The integrated graphics will enable you to play a few rounds of Starcraft or similar nostalgia-inducing games, but don’t even think about Crysis or anything similar. As far as performance in other departments is concerned, this configuration and its latest-gen hardware components will provide you with several years of comfortable work, which is the basic condition when buying a PC like this, after all. The thing that’ll truly make you glad that you’ve bought this notebook (in the case that you do, of course) is that you won’t have to constantly look for a power plug, which has become a rare feat in today’s portable PCs, with the possible exception of netbooks, which TimelineX surpasses multiple times in every way.

This is a decent system from Acer. It compromises on computational welly, but offers more than enough memory to keep things running smoothly. The only people who won’t be wholly enamoured with it are likely to be serious power users - it’s not particularly well-suited to Photoshop or big rendering jobs - and gamers. If you simply want a machine for everyday work or studies, this will fill the role without carving a rut out of your wallet. Look online and you'll pay £100 less than the RRP.

Nach eigenen Angaben ist das Unternehmen "drittgrößter Anbieter auf dem PC-Weltmarkt und auf Position zwei im Notebook-Segment mit dem schnellsten Wachstum unter den Top fünf der Weltrangliste". Der Konzern ist zusammengeschlossen mit Gateway Inc. und Packard Bell. Acer beschäftigt weltweit 5.000 Mitarbeiter. Im Jahr 2007 realisierter Umsatz: 14,07 Mrd. US$. Acer ist nach Angaben des Marktforschers IDC (Q2 2008) mit 9,9 % Marktanteil der weltweit drittgrößte Hersteller von Personal Computern (HP 18,9 %, Dell 16,4 %, Lenovo 7,5 %, Apple 5,7%).

Diese Grafikkarten sollten alle modernen Spiele flüssig darstellen können. Anspruchsvolle Spiele müssen jedoch in mittlerer Detailstufe gespielt werden. Ältere und weniger anspruchsvolle Spiele wie die Sims Serie können auch in hohen Detailsstufen flüssig dargestellt werden.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M: Mittelklasse Grafikkarte basierend auf dem GT 435M Chip (GF108) jedoch mit minimal höheren Taktraten und Unterstützung für GDDR5 und DDR3 mit 900 MHz.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M: Einsteigergrafikkarte basierend auf den GF119 Chip (Fermi Ableger) mit 64 Bit Speicheranbindung oder den GF108 mit 128 Bit aber geringeren Taktraten.

Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.

Intel HD Graphics 3000: In Sandy Bridge Prozessoren (Core ix-2xxx) integrierte Grafikkarte von Intel. Stärkere GT2 genannte Version mit 12 Execution Units (EUs). Je nach Modell mit unterschiedlichen Taktraten (350-650MHz) und TurboBoost Unterstützung (900-1350MHz).
