Apple weiß weiterhin mit den Unibody MacBooks zu überzeugen. Design, Haptik und Stabilität sind unübertroffen. Auch die Performance ist für ein 2.5 kg Notebook hervorragend, jedoch ist die 9600M GT nicht mehr ganz aktuell. Das verbesserte Display gefällt durch einen erweiterten Farbraum, ist jedoch leider immer noch nicht in matt erhältlich. Die größte Neuerung ist der integrierte 72 Wh Akku, welcher fantastische Akkulaufzeiten von bis zu 8,5 h ermöglicht. Leider ist er nicht vom User wechselbar, was im Servicefall ärgerlich sein kann.

  Für Einsteiger sind die Top-Modelle der jeweiligen Modellreihen, die uns erreichen, allein vom Preis her nicht zu empfehlen. Hier sollten Profis zugreifen, die auf Leistung pur abzielen. Am meisten Power bekommt man derzeit mit dem 15-Zoll-Macbook Pro, das durch den zusätzlichen diskreten Grafikchip ein Quäntchen mehr an Grafikleistung liefert. Wer darauf verzichten kann, ist auch mit dem 13-Zoll-Modell gut bedient. Die Displays beider Modelle unterscheiden sich, abgesehen von der Auflösung kaum noch von einander.

Mit dem leichten und verwindungssteifen Unibody aus einem Alu-Block und dem ergiebigen Akku verkörpern sie eine ziemlich ideale Kombination vo Laufzeit, Leistung, Laufruhe und Design - allein das Gewicht könnte etwas niedriger sein.

We know what's coming. Two cores, Hyper Threading and Turbo Boost. Chances are Arrandale will be the first noticeable performance improvement the MacBook Pro line has seen since 2007. If these machines weren't so good, waiting would be the only option.
Apple deserves credit for giving users a reason to upgrade. Intel bases its roadmaps off of how competitive AMD will be in the future. AMD's mobile CPUs weren't doing so well, and thus the mobile Core 2 Duo lineup didn't improve in performance much over the past couple of years.

Still, I wouldn't dump it on the nature strip and rush out to buy the Pro. Apart from battery life all you're really missing out on is Firewire, something you obviously decided you could live without when weighing up your purchase. You can also bet that this first-gen 13 inch MacBook Pro will go through a refresh or two before your current MacBook reaches the end of its life.

We'll admit to being extremely wary whenever Apple makes changes to the 15-inch MacBook Pro. 15-inch MBPs running all manner of operating systems are pervasive in the Engadget ranks, and when we hit the road at events like CES and E3 we tend to standardize on them so we can do things like... share batteries. So it's fair to say we went into testing somewhat skeptical, and after a week with the midrange $1,999 configuration we're only slightly less ambivalent about Apple's latest revision of its most popular pro machine -- it's still solid, but we just don't think mobile professionals will be as pleased with Apple's design choices as the general consumer.

NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT: Nachfolger der 8600M GT und durch 65nm Prozess deutlich höhere Taktraten (und dadurch mehr Performance) bei gleichem Stromverbrauch. Dadurch sollte die Leistung einer 8700M GT erreicht werden können (bei Verwendung von GDDR3). Verbesserte Videofunktionen (VP3), HybridPower und Hybrid SLI Unterstützung.

Diese Grafikkarten sollten alle modernen Spiele flüssig darstellen können. Anspruchsvolle Spiele wie Crysis, Age of Conan oder Mass Effect jedoch nur mit (deutlich) reduzierten Details. Ältere und weniger anspruchsvolle Spiele wie Fifa 08, Command & Conquer 3, oder Battlefield 2142 können auch in hohen Detailsstufen flüssig dargestellt werden.

15.4": 15 Zoll Display-Varianten sind der Standard und werden für fast die Hälfte aller Notebooks verwendet. Notebook-Displays im 15 Zoll-Format sind der Standard schlechthin. 15.4 Zoll ist meist die genaue Größeneinheit für 16:10 Notebooks, während 15.6 Zoll ein Indiz für das Format 16:9 sind. Der Grund der Beliebtheit mittelgrosser Displays ist, dass diese Größe einigermaßen augenschonend ist und dennoch nicht allzu viel Strom verbraucht und die Geräte noch halbwegs kompakt sein können.

80.23%: Diese Bewertung muss man eigentlich als durchschnittlich ansehen, denn es gibt etwa ebenso viele Notebooks mit besseren Beurteilungen wie Schlechteren. Die Verbalbeurteilungen klingen aber oft besser als sie wirklich sind, denn richtig gelästert wird über Notebooks eher selten.
