Das neue MacBook Pro mit Touch Bar geht den Weg konsequent weiter, den Apple seit Jahren eingeschlagen hat. Die MacBooks und nun auch wieder die Pro-Modelle werden immer dünner und leichter. Dem zum Opfer fällt die Anschlussvielfalt. Man könnte es aber auch als eine Chance sehen, denn der Typ-C-Stecker bietet viele Vorteile.

Die Farben werden auf dem Bildschirm angenehm matt und nicht zu knallig dargestellt. Das Display spiegelt kaum, die Helligkeit kann auf bis zu 500 Nits ausgereizt werden. Je heller der Bildschirm ist, desto eher macht aber der Akku schlapp. ... Bei der Performance hat sich gegenüber den Vorgängern nicht viel getan. Lediglich die Grafikleistung ist besser. Wer auf eine hohe Performance angewiesen ist, sollte etwas warten.

Womit wir auch direkt zum Fazit kommen und das versuche ich dieses Mal kurz zu machen. Das MacBook Pro ist ein tolles Gerät. Das Display ist großartig, das Design und die Verarbeitung sind modern und zeitlos und die Performance reicht meiner Meinung nach auch beim Einsteigermodell aus. Die Tastatur ist ein Streitpunkt, mir hat sie gut gefallen.

Das "Pro" im Namen Macbook Pro kann Apple mittlerweile getrost streichen. Die neuen 13-Zoll-Notebooks sind kaum zu warten, können nicht aufgerüstet werden und bieten unzeitgemäße Limits bei RAM- und SSD-Kapazitäten. Nicht zu vergessen, dass selbst Fotografen, eine wichtige Macbook-Zielgruppe, mangels Schnittstellen einen SD-Karten-Adapter nutzen müssen.

There are changes to the keyboard beyond the Touch Bar. The keys now coming with a new butterfly mechanism. It does feel different compared to my MacBook Air. The response is different, and I’m not sure it’s so in a good way. The keys seem to hit a flat at the end of its travel, and send a small kick up the fingers, which will take some getting used to. Meanwhile, the trackpad has become really big and easy to work with. This large trackpad has been incorporated to let users easily drag stuff from one end of the screen to the other. See, Microsoft, you don’t always need a touchscreen.

For someone in my shoes, this 13-inch MacBook Pro is preferable to the 12-inch MacBook in Apple’s current lineup, and a solid replacement for my aging 13-inch MacBook Air. Its speed gains over the early 2015 13-inch MacBook Pro are marginal, but the graphics performance is much improved. If this machine isn’t Pro enough to do your best work, the Touch Bar models (especially the 15-inch version) have better specs—or you could try to hold out even longer for next year’s models, which will hopefully have Kaby Lake processors and perhaps 32GB of RAM.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
