Dank Update konnten diese zwar größtenteils beseitigt werden, wie beispielsweise bei der Sprachqualität, doch ist es schade, dass es überhaupt zu diesen Problemen gekommen ist. Die Akkuleistung ist mehr als enttäuschend - hier bleibt das iPhone 8 klar hinter der Konkurrenz zurück. Durchwachsene Ergebnisse wurden hingegen bei der Kamera erzielt. Die Fotos sind zwar gut, haben aber auch die ein oder andere Schwachstelle. Die beste Kamera, wie häufig berichtet wird, bietet das iPhone 8 somit nicht.

Jegliche Kritik mit dem Hinweis auf das kommende iPhone X wegzuwischen, lasse ich nicht gelten. Apple vermarktet das iPhone 8 und iPhone 8 Plus als Premium-Modelle und verlangt mit 799 bzw. 909 Euro für das Einstiegsmodell sogar mehr als vor einem Jahr für das iPhone 7 und iPhone 7 Plus.

I keep telling people to go for the iPhone 7 instead of the iPhone 8, simply because of the marginal difference in features and significant difference in price, and that verdict unfortunately hasn’t changed much. Granted, the iPhone 8 performs much better with a better processor and camera system, it supports wireless charging and has better battery life than the iPhone 7, but you aren’t missing out on essential features if you already own an iPhone 7. As a matter of fact, the iPhone 8 is made for those looking to upgrade from the iPhone 6 or older, and doesn’t want to pay an extra premium for Animojis and Face ID, it may be dated, but it is still a decent product.

While many people have complained that there are not enough changes in the iPhone 8’s camera as compared to the iPhone 7’s (which is true as the shooting experience and the specs on both the device remains largely the same), we would say that in terms of performance, the iPhone 8 is significantly better. It cannot be denied that the company has not taken a super long jump from where it was with its previous model in spec terms- many expected dual cameras and portrait mode and maybe even dual front cameras – but even then, we would say that this does qualify as one of the best smartphone cameras out there. Modell: Das neue iPhone 8 verfügt über einen gänzlich neuen A11 Bionic Prozessor, der erstmals von Apple von Grund auf entworfen wurde anstatt bereits existierende ARM SoC Designs zu nutzen. Bis jetzt handelt es sich um den bei weiten leistungsstärksten mobilen SoC, der sogar seinen nächsten Konkurrenten, Qualcommm, und seine Snapdragon-Designs übertrifft. Außerdem ist das iPhone 8 mit 2 GB RAM und einer Speicherkapazität von 64 bis zu 256 GB ausgestattet. Betrachtet man das Gehäuse, entdeckt man nicht wirklich Neues. Apple hat das nahezu völlig raffinierte Design des iPhone 6 weiter verwendet. Das soll nicht heißen, es wäre schlecht. Jedenfalls leidet es nicht unter den Verwindungsproblemen, die beim iPhone 6 auftraten. Verglichen mit den 6, 6s und sogar dem 7 handelt es sich um das bislang verwindungsresistenteste iPhone. Gewiss handelt es sich um ein bewährtes, weiterhin unantastbar elegantes Design. Außerdem können User zwischen drei Farben, nämlich silber, gold, und grau wählen. Bei den Schnittstellen lässt das iPhone 8 weiterhin unnachgiebig die Kopfhörerbuchse weg. Daher muss jeglicher Sound über den Lightning-Port geleitet werden. Diesmal nutzt das iPhone 8 einen true-tone-basierten Retina-Display mit IPS-Technologie, der schärfer, heller und lebendiger aussieht als jemals zuvor. Man beachte, dass der Bildschirm des iPhone 8 nur mit 1.334 x 750 Pixeln auflöst. Es mag so wirken, als wäre dies keine gute Auflösung, weil es sich nicht um Full-HD handelt, doch rückblickend ist der Bildchirm wegen seiner Pixeldichte tatsächlich besser als die meisten aktuell man Markt verfügbaren Konkurrenten.

Die Kamera an der Rückseite löst in 12 MP auf, jene auf der Vorderseite ist ein 7-MP-Modell. Im Allgemeinen macht nicht nur die Pixelzahl eine Kamera zu einem guten Modell, sondern auch Software und inkludierte Merkmale. Apple schnitt diesbezüglich schon immer hervorragend ab und lieferte unter guten sowie schlechten Lichtbedingungen schön und knackig aussehende Bilder ohne Detailverlust. Man beachte, dass HDR nun ständig aktiviert ist, was Bilder viel realistischer und natürlicher macht. User können sich darüber freuen, dass 4K-Videos nun mit 60 FPS anstatt 30 FPS, auf welche das iPhone 7 beschränkt war, aufgezeichnet werden können. Darüberhinaus können 1080p-Videos mit bis zu 240 FPS gegenüber von 120 FPS beim iPhone 7 aufgezeichnet werden, womit sich das Phone wirklich deutlich von anderen am Markt verfügbaren Flagship-Modellen absetzt. Obwohl der ganze Schnickschnack das iPhone 8 attraktiv macht, sollte angemerkt sein, dass es Apple oft bei der Akkukapazität mangelt, die mit nur 1.821 mAh weiter geschrumpft ist, anstatt zu steigen. Doch dass sich Apple weigert die Akkukapazität zu erhöhen, wirkt sich nicht nachteilig aus. Wenigstens sind die spezifizierten Zeiten gleichauf mit dem iPhone 7 der letzen Generation. Allerdings unterstützt das iPhone 8 nun Fast-Charging, womit User in unter 30 Minuten auf bis zu 50 % aufladen können. Ein weiteres neues Feature, das Android-Usern nicht neu vorkommen mag, ist die Unterstützung von kabellosen Qi-Charging dank der neuen Glas-Rückseite. Die einzige Beschwerde über Fast-Charging ist, dass User den Vorteil dieses Features nicht ab Werk nutzen können, da Nutzer des bereits teuren iPhone dazu zuerst in ein USB-C-auf-Lightning-Kabel und einen USB-C-Stromadapter, der üblicherweise mit iPads oder Macbooks mitgeliefert wird, investieren müssen. Das ist aber nicht so schlimm, denn Apple erwartet, dass jene die sich ein iPhone 8 kaufen bereits Mac oder iPad-User sind. Trotzdem wäre die Ausgangssituation viel besser, wenn diese mit dem Phone mitgeliefert werden würde. Da das neue iPhone 8 für Apple-Standards nur ein kleines inkrementelles Update ist, ist es für User, die bereits ein 6S oder ein 7 verwenden, nur schwer empfehlbar. Doch User, die noch ein 5 oder sogar ein 4S haben, können es in Betracht ziehen. Ansonsten lohnt es sich nicht etwas Altes durch etwas fast gleiches Neues zu ersetzen.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
