Fazit: Neben dem eleganten Auftreten des Gerätes sind vor allem die solide Bauweise der Base Unit aber auch des Displays positiv zu erwähnen. Einziges Manko in Punkto Verarbeitung ist der Drehklappmechanismus, der ein Wackeln des Displays sowohl im offenen als auch im geschlossenen Zustand zulässt. Der vermutlich positivste Aspekt des Asus R1F ist das helle Display mit ausgezeichneten Kontrastwerten und einer sehr guten Blickwinkelstabilität, welche insbesondere für Tablet PCs von enormer Wichtigkeit ist.

Fazit: I've mentioned a lot of good things about the R1F, because it really is great - it's a quality machine inside and out. So I'll only mention the cons - which for me is the scratches on the tablet pen (because of the pen-slot not being smooth on the inside), the plastic notebook casing (I wish it was metal!), and the non-airbag fitted hard drive (such as the IBM X-tablet). Other than that, if you want the best tablet PC cheaper than other like brands, the R1F is the cream of the crop. The Fujitsu T4210 has a smaller screen, doesn't have a sharp design and is more expensive, and the Toshiba R25 looks boring, is heavy and looks boring. They were my 3 contenders. ASUS R1F can be proudly named Ms Universe of tablet PCs (for now).

Asus R1F Notebook to Tablet PC Convertible Review

Fazit: Considering all the features you get for the price, which is affordable at around $1,500, it is hard to pass up on the Asus R1F if you're looking for a notebook with the added Tablet PC functionality. It features good performance with its Core 2 Duo processor and ample storage with up to a 120GB hard drive. It's not too heavy or too big to take on trips or hold while standing for awhile. If you use the Splendid Video Technology movies look great, despite some graininess due to the Wacom screen layer. The plastic housing is a little cheap feeling, but the R1F is still durable. The plastic housing helps keep the cost and weight down as well. I enjoyed the R1F in both notebook and Tablet mode, nothing beats writing on the screen especially when you are in a hurry. The screen can double as one big post-it-note and the R1F definitely helped keep me organized.

Asus R1F

Fazit: Der einzige Tablet PC mit 13.3-Zoll-Breitbild-Display überzeugt mit hoher Rechenleistung, läuft aber nicht lange und hat einen schlechten Monitor-Anschluss. Für knapp 2000 Euro liefert Asus reichlich Zubehör zum R1F mit, darunter eine stabile Hülle, eine Umhängetasche, eine Bluetooth-Maus und diverse CDs.

Fazit: Als Tablet-PC verfügt es über ein großes Touchscreen-Display, als Notebook über einen schnellen Prozessor. Kaum ein Hersteller hat bislang eine so leistungsstarke und konsequente Synthese aus beiden Welten auf den Markt gebracht.

Fazit: The Asus R1 is my first laptop, plus it is a Tablet PC, which in my opinion makes it worth the money. I am completely happy with my purchase and would never pick another computer. If this computer was stolen or destroyed I would not hesitate to get another R1. There are very few cons to this computer. The pros are overwhelming, I mean this computer is fast and efficient. Not only that, but it has an attractive design and the Tablet factor is astonishing. I recommend this computer to everyone. It took me a while to think of cons for this computer, as you can see below they are super minor. Great computer!!!

Fazit: The packaging that ASUS R1F arrives in is just like any other at first glance. Using a highly trained and sophisticated move, we open the box and find a bag and another two boxes. We take the more elegant one and find cables, battery and the rest of the package inside, but no laptop. We take the other box, which is rather simple-looking, and open it, only to find a fourth box inside. OK, someone really decided to lengthen that sweet impatience every buyer has. Safety is becoming more and more of a factor, so ASUS R1F is equipped with a Trusted Platform Module (TPM), and the fingerprint reader is an additional form of protection. Alongside all sorts of hardware solutions, ASUS Splendid Video Intelligence is something worth mentioning, as it provides a better image quality.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950 ist ein onboard integrierter Grafikchip und kann als schneller getakteter GMA 900 bezeichnet werden (auf Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipsatz, erst ab Core Duo/Solo verfügbar). 2006 ist es die meistgenutzte Grafiklösung und gehört zum leistungsschwächsten Drittel mobiler Grafiklösungen, kann daher nur für ältere Spiele sinvoll eingesetzt werden. Für Büroanwendungen und zum Surfen reicht es aber ohne Probleme.

Intel Core Duo: Intel Core Duo (Pentium M-Nachfolger), ein Doppelkernprozessor mit sehr gutem Verhältnis von Leistung zu Stromverbrauch. Die 2 MB L2 Cache werden gemeinsam genutzt. Die maximale Leistungsaufnahme von 31 Watt ist nur 4 W mehr als beim Pentium M. Aufgrund geringen Stromverbrauchs eignet sich Core Duo auch für Subnotebooks. Ausserdem unterstützt er nun auch SSE3 Befehle. Bei Anwendungen, die für Multiprozessoren designed wurden, kann die Leistung fast verdoppelt ausfallen verglichen mit Pentium M.

T2400: T2400 ist ein Core Duo mittlerer Geschwindigkeit und eignet sich gut für Büroanwendungen und zum Surfen.

13.3": Das ist ein häufiges, jedenfalls aber das grösste Displayformat für Subnotebooks.

Der Vorteil von Subnotebooks liegt darin, dass das ganze Notebook klein dimensioniert sein kann und daher leicht tragbar ist. Das winzige Display hat noch den Vorteil wenig Strom zu benötigen, was die Akkulaufzeit und damit die Mobilität weiter verbessert. Der Nachteil ist, dass das Lesen von Texten sehr anstrengend für die Augen ist. Hohe Auflösungen sind fast nicht nutzbar.

2.4 kg: Dieses Notebook ist etwas leichter als der Durchschnitt aller Notebooks. Für Subnotebooks ist das bereits zu schwer. 14 Zoll Displays passen in diesen Gewichtsbereich.

Asus: Asus ist ein internationaler Hersteller mittlerer Grösse. Im deutsch- und englischsprachigen Raum werden in jüngerer Zeit sehr viele Notebook-Modelle von Asustec getestet. Allerdings schafften es in diesen Tests bisher relativ wenige Modelle in Top-Positionen bzgl. Gesamtwertung und Preis/Leistungs-Bewertung.
