Mit dem MacBook Air teilt das Asus UL50AG die Leidenschaft für die Farbe silber und einen schlanken Körperbau. Der wesentlich günstigere Preis hat aber auch seine Schattenseiten. Das Unternehmen hat weltweit 100.000 Angestellte, die meisten davon in China, wohin der Großteil der Produktion schon vor einiger Zeit ausgelagert wurde. Im Geschäftsbereich mit dem Markennamen Asus fertigt das Unternehmen Notebooks, Komplettsysteme und PC-Bauteile für Endkunden. Asus betreibt Niederlassungen in Deutschland, Italien, Großbritannien, Frankreich, Spanien, Russland und den USA sowie ein europäisches Servicecenter in Tschechien. Mit dem Eee PC hat Asus 2008 den Netbook-Boom ausgelöst.

Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: Im GM45, GS45 und GE45 Chipsatz (Montevina Plattform) integrierte shared Memory Grafikkarte von Intel. Durch höhere Taktung und mehr Shader ist sie deutlich schneller als die X3100, jedoch immer noch nicht für Spieler empfehlenswert. Kann HD-Videos (AVC/VC2/MPEG2) dekodieren und so die CPU entlasten.
Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
NVIDIA GeForce G210M: Die GeForce G210M besitzt, wie die alte GeForce G 110M 16 Shaderkerne jedoch konnte sie dank 40nm Prozess bei selben Stromverbrauch deutlich höher getaktet werden (bei um 50% verringertem Stromverbrauch ohne Last).
Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen. Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950: Integrierter (onboard) Grafikchip auf Mobile Intel 945GM/C/Z/ME/ML Chipsätzen und Nachfolger des GMA 900. Kein Hardware T&L (für manche Spiele benötigt). Für Spiele kaum geeignet.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Core Duo Nachfolger mit längerer Pipeline und 5-20% Geschwindigkeitszuwachs bei 0.5 - 3 Watt mehr Stromverbrauch.
Der Notebook Core 2 Duo ist baugleich mit den Desktop Core 2 Duo Prozessoren, jedoch werden die Notebook-Prozessoren mit niedrigeren Spannungen und geringerem Frontsidebus Takt betrieben. Von der Leistung bleiben gleichgetaktete Notebooks deswegen (und auch wegen der langsameren Festplatten) 20-25% hinter Desktop PCs.
SU7300: Langsam getakteter Core 2 Duo Prozessor mit 3 MB Level 2 Cache und geringem TDP von 10 Watt.
15.6: 15 Zoll Display-Varianten sind der Standard und werden für fast die Hälfte aller Notebooks verwendet. Notebook-Displays im 15 Zoll-Format sind der Standard schlechthin. 15.4 Zoll ist meist die genaue Größeneinheit für 16:10 Notebooks, während 15.6 Zoll ein Indiz für das Format 16:9 sind. Der Grund der Beliebtheit mittelgrosser Displays ist, dass diese Größe einigermaßen augenschonend ist und dennoch nicht allzu viel Strom verbraucht und die Geräte noch halbwegs kompakt sein können.

Dieses Notebook ist etwas leichter als der Durchschnitt aller Notebooks. Für Subnotebooks ist das bereits zu schwer. 14 Zoll Displays passen in diesen Gewichtsbereich.

74.3%: Diese Bewertung ist schlecht. Die meisten Notebooks werden besser beurteilt. Als Kaufempfehlung darf man das nicht sehen.
