Kann ein Notebook mit einem 16-Zoll-Display mobil sein? Dell beweist, dass das möglich ist. Denn das Latitude Z des Direktversenders wiegt ganze 2,3 Kilogramm und ist dennoch mit einem so großen Bildschirm ausgestattet. Die schlanke und leichte Bauweise in Kombination mit dem großen 16-Zoll-Display ist ebenso hervorzuheben wie die langen Akku-Laufzeiten in Verbindung mit den guten Systemleistungen. Ein Vor-Ort-Service in den ersten drei Jahren und ein mitgelieferter DVD-Brenner relativieren zwar den Preis ein wenig. Dennoch werden sich wohl nur Anwender mit einem exklusiven Geschmack ein solches Gerät leisten.

Mit dem Latitude Z600 hat Dell ein edles, hochwertiges, aber auch teures 16-/oll-Notebook entwickelt, das dank mehr als acht Stunden Laufzeit und zwei Zentimeter flachem Gehäuse sowohl auf dem Schreibtisch als auch unterwegs eine gute Figur macht.

The Dell Latitude Z is a classy notebook with some touches that truly earn the label innovative. Some of this technology – such as wireless charging and screen sending – will almost certainly trickle down into more affordable laptops in the future. But right now, the expensive Dell Latitude Z goes some way to justifying its price by virtue of its wire-free tech, and tactile covetable design, great feature set and excellent build quality.

For those looking for a big screen in an ultra-slim package, the Latitude Z600 is a dream machine, but its high price and so-so performance relegate it to niche status.

The Dell Latitude Z is a very impressive high-end business notebook with many tricks up its sleeve. This notebook offers EdgeTouch technology, inductive charging, and haptic feedback for the volume controls all inside a chassis that is no thicker than about ¾ of an inch. Compared to other thin and light notebooks the Z offers a 16-inch screen with plenty of real estate and one of the best keyboards we have seen to date.

The Dell Latitude Z is possibly the strangest laptop we’ve ever reviewed. It’s as if Dell has taken all the conventional rules of building a business notebook, cut them up into tiny pieces and reassembled them to form this: an ultra-wide, ultra-thin, ultra-odd laptop. A truly innovative business laptop with hordes of interesting features, but its three-hour battery life is a disappointment.

The Dell Latitude Z600 is indeed a high-class executive system. Its black-cherry exterior, smooth and comfortable keyboard, and luxe accessories definitely make it look the part of a mogul’s laptop. We were also impressed by the blazing solid state drives, as well as the convenient EdgeTouch controls. However, although Z600 has the screen size of a desktop replacement notebook, it performs like an ultraportable--without the benefit of long battery life.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: Im GM45, GS45 und GE45 Chipsatz (Montevina Plattform) integrierte shared Memory Grafikkarte von Intel. Durch höhere Taktung und mehr Shader ist sie deutlich schneller als die X3100, jedoch immer noch nicht für Spieler empfehlenswert. Kann HD-Videos (AVC/VC2/MPEG2) dekodieren und so die CPU entlasten.

Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.

Der Notebook Core 2 Duo ist baugleich mit den Desktop Core 2 Duo Prozessoren, jedoch werden die Notebook-Prozessoren mit niedrigeren Spannungen und geringerem Frontsidebus Takt betrieben. Von der Leistung bleiben gleichgetaktete Notebooks deswegen (und auch wegen der langsameren Festplatten) 20-25% hinter Desktop PCs.

16.0": 16 Zoll Display-Varianten gibt es im Großen und Ganzen erst seit 2009, dürften aber immer häufiger werden, vor allem in Kombination mit 16:9 Diagonalen. Die Bildschirmgröße ist etwas größer als die häufige Standardgröße 15 Zoll. Der Grund der Beliebtheit mittelgrosser Displays ist, dass diese Größe einigermaßen augenschonend ist und dennoch nicht allzu viel Strom verbraucht und die Geräte noch halbwegs kompakt sein können.

Auch wenn Verbalbewertungen in diesem Bereich gar nicht so schlecht klingen ("genügend" oder "befriedigend"), meist sind es Euphemismen, die eine Klassifikation als unterdurchschnittliches Notebook verschleiern.
