Das Dell Studio 17 ist zurzeit das preiswerteste 17-Zoll Notebook mit dem starken Intel Core i7 Prozessor. Trotz des geringen Preises von 949 Euro (Reviews-NR74701) muss nicht auf eine starke Grafikkarte verzichtet werden. Die ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650 sorgt für passable Leistung im 3D-Segment und ermöglicht flüssiges Gaming in hohen Auflösungen und Detailstufen, trotz der Drosselung des Prozessors.

ein tolles notebook dass aber leider sehr viel staub anzieht habe mir die gesichtserkennungssoftware und beleuchtete tastaur dazubestellt und diese erweißen sich als sehr nützlich. Bei der tastatur muss man "richtig in die tasten hauen" dafür ist der bildschirm wirklich toll. Klangqualität ist beim skypen und normal-lauten musik hören top.
wenn man das notebook entstauben will und man über die mltimedialeiste fährt schaltet sich da notebook an (etwas nervig, aber ich muss noch schaun ob man dass vll ausschalten kann)
guter support und lieferzeit o.k. (knapp 2 wochen mit vorrauszahlung) alles in allem kann ich dieses notebook empfehlen und würde es jederzeit wieder kaufen

Das Dell Studio 17 Notebook hinterlässt einen guten Eindruck. Die Verarbeitung ist auf einem hohen Niveau und bietet viele kleine Detaillösungen. Das Design ist sehr ansprechend und dank den verschiedenen Farben sehr individuell. Das 17 Zoll Display konnte besonders überzeugen, die Farben waren sehr kräftig und dank der LED Hintergrundbeleuchtung ist das Display sehr hell. Dank des umfangreichen Konfigurators kann man sein System auf seine Bedürfnisse anpassen, dadurch kann es aber auch passieren, dass der Preis recht schnell nach oben geht. Auf jeden Fall handelt es sich bei dem Dell Studio 17 um ein schickes 17 Zoll Notebook, was durchaus das Potential besitzt dem heimischen Desktoprechner Konkurrenz zu machen.

Multimedia für die Massen: Dell Studio 17 im Test

Das Dell Studio 17 ist ein gut verarbeitetes Gerät, das sich einen oberen Platz unter den Multimedianotebooks ergattern kann. Auch der Grundpreis von 679 Euro passt gut ins Bild - Multimedia für die Masse. Die Gesamt-Performance des Rechners ist gut - sowohl einfaches Surfen im Internet als auch aufwändigere Grafik- und Multimediaprogramme bringen den 17-Zöller nicht aus der Puste. Soll der PC allerdings mit einigen Extras, wie zum Beispiel einem Fingerprint-Sensor, aufgerüstet werden, so wie das beim netzwelt-Testgerät der Fall war, so entstehen sehr schnell hohe Zusatzkosten. Der Preis in der netzwelt-Testkonfiguration beträgt happige 1.438 Euro zuzüglich Versandkosten. Jedoch bietet Dell die Testkonfiguration von netzwelt zu einem wesentlich günstigeren Preis - nämlich 999 Euro - auf der Dell Homepage an.

Although it costs a reasonable $1,164, the Dell Studio 17 has the power of a much more expensive notebook: a blazing quad-core Intel Core i7 processor that’s perfect for multitaskers and multimedia fiends, a full gigabyte of dedicated graphics memory, a fast, 7,200-rpm hard drive, and a nine-cell battery that outlasts other desktop replacements. Sure, you’ll get a more refined design and even stronger performance as you move up to more tricked-out systems, but the Studio 17 delivers a lot of value.

Dell's Studio 17 packs a big screen for a big peformance - pity on the big price

Our review model Dell 17 came with an eyewateringly green lid - it comes in a range of colours, and we were apparently sent the ‘puréed frog' model. Joking aside, the Studio is a good-looking system. Make no mistake, the Studio 17 is an excellent laptop, but Dell's exquisite design is again undermined by price.

Dell has managed to walk a fine line between price and performance with this machine. You can upgrade but at this price you don’t get extras like Blu-ray, just a standard DVD rewriter, but for a family orientated notebook you won’t find any compromises. It manages to pack in the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 3GB of RAM and a whopping 320GB hard drive and still be affordable. There is even a dedicated gaming card, the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650, so you’ll be able to play games with ease. We really like this machine – it’s powerful, portable and for the configuration isn’t about to cost the earth.

Otherwise, the 802.11n Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet covers standard network and Internet connectivity, and you can add built-in mobile broadband as an optional extra. To top it all off, Dell also throws in a two-year next business day parts and labour warranty.

The Studio 17 is by no means as attractive or desirable as an XPS laptop (excluding the gaming XPSs, they're pig-ugly), but it is slightly more appealing than an Inspiron. With that in mind, it achieves its objective: to be cheaper than an XPS without sacrificing too much in the way of looks. Laptops such as the Asus M70 offer more in the way of storage and connectivity, but the Studio 17 just about holds its own.

All things said and done, the Dell Studio 17 is the most impressive 17-inch consumer notebook we've seen so far this year. The build quality, range of customizable options, expandability, style, and price make this an excellent choice if you're in the market for a 17-inch notebook. Still, we would have liked to see more graphics card options than just the integrated Intel X3100 and dedicated ATI Radeon HD 3650. While issues like lack of VGA cable screw posts, dedicated docking station connector, or lack of a simple RAM expansion cover might prevent some buyers from purchasing this notebook, there's a lot to like about this notebook. The Studio 17 has virtually every cool feature you'd want in a 17-inch notebook ... with the exception of a built-in TV tuner. Bottom line, you'll be hard pressed to find a better 17-inch notebook in the same price range at the time of this writing.

Sometimes you want more performance than what a typical big-screen machine offers, and on that front the Dell Studio 17 delivers. You get a fast dual-core processor, discrete graphics, a humongous hard drive, and a beautiful high-res display. And we really like what Dell has done with its Dock interface and webcam software. However, the look of the system isn’t for everyone, and we’d like to see less-finicky volume controls.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650: In 55nm gefertigter DirectX 10.1 Mittelklasse-Grafikchip mit vergleichbarer Leistung einer 8600M GT Grafikkarte. Dank Avivo Video Engine kann die Grafikkarte den Prozessor bei verschiedensten Videooperationen (auch HD Video) entlasten.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Core Duo Nachfolger mit längerer Pipeline und 5-20% Geschwindigkeitszuwachs bei 0.5 - 3 Watt mehr Stromverbrauch.

Der Notebook Core 2 Duo ist baugleich mit den Desktop Core 2 Duo Prozessoren, jedoch werden die Notebook-Prozessoren mit niedrigeren Spannungen und geringerem Frontsidebus Takt betrieben. Von der Leistung bleiben gleichgetaktete Notebooks deswegen (und auch wegen der langsameren Festplatten) 20-25% hinter Desktop PCs.

78.36%: Weltbewegend ist diese Bewertung nicht. Obwohl es bei den meisten Websites einem "Befriedigend" entspricht, muss man bedenken, dass es kaum Notebooks gibt, die unter 60% erhalten. Verbalbewertungen in diesem Bereich klingen oft nicht schlecht, sind aber oft verklausulierte Euphemismen. Dieses Notebook wird von den Testern eigentlich als unterdurchschnittlich angesehen, eine Kaufempfehlung kann man nur mit viel Wohlwollen darin sehen.
