Das Dell XPS 12 ist ein sehr gutes Ultrabook mit Tablet-Funktionalität und gelungener Umsetzung in der Convertible-Geräteklasse. Das Umschalten zwischen Ultrabook und Tablet klappt flink, das Gerät ist zudem sehr gut verarbeitet. Damit liefert Dell eine ordentliche Alternative zum Lenovo Yoga, auch wenn das Display etwas kleiner ist.

The Dell XPS 12 is a solid performer with normal applications, and it can perform quite well even when faced with daunting multi-tasking. The unique flip screen form factor is complicated and probably that is the reason why nobody has attempted to imitate it. However, it does appear to be sturdy and should last long with normal usage. The bright 12.5" FullHD display is crisp and visible outdoors, and is also very responsive to touch input. It has most of the necessary ports except that there is no memory card slot or an HDMI port. A Display Port has been provided but that is not of much use, as we don't get too many display devices compatible with the same here. Providing an HDMI port or at least an adapter would have been better. While its dimensions are small, and Dell boasts of the carbon fibre body contributing to its light weight, it is not exactly as light at a little over 1.5 kg. Priced at Rs 95,000, the Dell XPS 12 is quite expensive, in fact Rs 5000 more than the Sony VAIO Duo 11, which performs a tad better. We would've have recommended Sony's device over the one from Dell, had it not come with a crammed keyboard or lacked a touchpad. We must say that most manufacturers have been pricing Windows 8 devices a little too steeply by simply adding a touchscreen as a novelty factor, when you can still use the device perfectly well with the keyboard and touchpad that it already comes with.

Dell: Dell ist ein US-amerikanischer Hersteller (Sitz Texas) von Computer-Hardware  und gehört zu den grössten internationalen Herstellern sowohl in Bezug auf Marktanteile als auch hinsichtlich Notebook-Modellen, die im deutsch- und englisch-sprachigen Raum getestet wurden. Dell ist nach Angaben des Marktforschers IDC (Q2 2008) mit 16,4 % Marktanteil der weltweit zweitgrößte Hersteller von Personal Computern (HP 18,9 %, Acer 9,9 %, Lenovo 7,5 %). In Deutschland liegt Dell mit einem Marktanteil von 13,2 % derzeit auf Platz drei. Dell erzielte 2007 einen Umsatz von 61 Milliarden US-Dollar und beschäftigt etwa 80.000 Mitarbeiter weltweit. Die Produktpalette umfasst unter anderem PCs, Notebooks, Speichersysteme, Monitore, Server, Drucker sowie Unterhaltungselektronik. Dell vertreibt seine Produkte vorwiegend direkt. Kunden haben die Möglichkeit, per Internet, Fax oder telefonisch zu bestellen. Die Produkte werden erst zusammengestellt, nachdem der Kunde seine Bestellung aufgegeben hat.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

Intel HD Graphics 4000: In Ivy Bridge Prozessoren (3. Generation Core) integrierte Grafikkarte in höchster Ausbaustufe. Je nach Prozessor (ULV bis Desktop Quad-Core) unterschiedlich getaktet.

Diese Subnotebook/Netbook ist deutlich leichter als der Durchschnitt aller Notebooks, und stellen eine mittlere Gewichtsklasse unter den Subnotebooks dar. 11 Zoll Displays passen in diesen Gewichtsbereich.

76.67%: Weltbewegend ist diese Bewertung nicht. Obwohl es bei den meisten Websites einem "Befriedigend" entspricht, muss man bedenken, dass es kaum Notebooks gibt, die unter 60% erhalten. Verbalbewertungen in diesem Bereich klingen oft nicht schlecht, sind aber oft verklausulierte Euphemismen. Dieses Notebook wird von den Testern eigentlich als unterdurchschnittlich angesehen, eine Kaufempfehlung kann man nur mit viel Wohlwollen darin sehen.
