Mit der Aero-14-Serie zielte Gigabyte darauf ab, Gaming- und Multimedia-Laptops, die so leistungsfähig wie Gaming-Desktops sind, herzustellen. Die Gigabyte-Aero-14-Serie besteht aus erstklassigen Laptops mit besonderen Merkmalen, die trotzdem mit weniger als 2 kg leicht sind, wodurch sie für User angenehmer zu transportieren sind. Die leistungsstarken, jedoch leichten 14-Zoll-Laptops sind etwas billiger als die MSI GS43 und hochwertigen Razer Blade Laptops. Diese Serie ist mit leistungsstarken Prozessoren, bestem Grafikkarten und einer SSD ausgestattet, beispielsweise einen Intel Core i7-770HQ Kaby-Lake-Prozessor der siebten Generation oder einer eigenständigen NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 GPU. Meiner Meinung nach kann das Gigabyte Aero 14 gegenüber konkurrierenden Modellen und Serien im gleichen Marktsegment aktuell leicht seine Vorteile ausspielen.
Design
Laut TechRadar, haben Gigabyte-Laptops immer schon allzu minimalistisch ausgesehen, sodass das Aero 14 geradezu stylisch ist. „I personally quite like the matte black design - although the orange and carbon-fibre trim looks like a bit of an afterthought”, sagt der Tester von TrustedReview. Auch UnlockedNewEgg denkt, dass ein einzigartiger und leistungsstarker Laptop wie das Gigabyte Aero sich nicht für ungewöhnliche Desigenentscheidungen entschuldigen muss. ComputerShopper kommentiert zum Aussehen dieses Notebooks, dass die orangen und grünen Versionen nicht zur Firmeneinrichtung passen könnte, doch das schwarze Aero 14 ist stattlich genug, um sowohl für Arbeit als auch Spiel zu passen. Außerdem berichtet Hexus: „The Aero 14 measures a hair under 20 mm thick and tips the scales at 1.9 kg. It isn’t the thinnest nor lightest laptop of its size, but considering the firepower within, the dimensions are perfectly acceptable and the system easily slips inside a backpack”. Trotzdem gibt es laut TrustedReview keine großen Probleme mit dem Design und der Verarbeitung des Aero 14, obwohl vergangene Erfahrungen zeigten, dass Gigabyte-Laptops nach weniger als einem Jahr Nutzung gebraucht aussehen. Wichtiger ist, dass - laut Meinung des Testers von Hexus - die Verarbeitung gleichermaßen zufriedenstellend ist. Das Gigabyte nutzt genug Aluminium-Verstärkung, um sicherzustellen, dass die Tastaturwanne nur minimal nachgibt und sich das System robuster anfühlt als die Kunststoffgehäuse, an welche Gamer gewöhnt sind.
Tastatur und Trackpad
Über die Tastatur meint UnlockedNewEgg, dass es sich über einen ziemlich guten Kompromiss aus traditioneller Tastatur und mechanischer handelt. Klicken fühlt sich gut an, obwohl das Gefühl nicht allen gefiel. Laut Hexus weist die Tastatur des Aero ein gute Größe, einen guten Hubweg und ein konsistentes weißes Hintergrundlicht auf, doch an das Layout muss man sich zuerst etwas gewöhnen. Zudem kommentiert TechRadar, dass die Tastatur über ein neues und größeres Isolationsdesign mit deutlich größeren Tasten und mehr Tastenzwischenraum verfügt. Die Tastenschalter fühlen sich beim Tippen elastisch an und bietet einen festen Widerstand. “The keyboard has an extremely firm action; you’ll need to put more force into each key press than is usual. I really like this, although it takes some getting used to”, sagt TrustedReview.
Indes bewertet UnlockedNewEgg: „The trackpad isn’t anything exciting, but it works better than some truly vestigial pads on gaming laptops. It gets the job done, but isn’t as large or responsive as others out there”. Zudem ist das Touchpad laut Bemerkung von TrustedReview eine integrierte Sache ohne eigenständigen physikalischen Tasten. Es ist gut, jedoch nicht Microsoft-Precision-zertifiziert. Daher erhält man nicht das unmittelbare, perfekt gewichtete Gefühl, das andere Laptops liefern. TechRadar bewertet: „Just below that, you’ll find a generously sized and silky smooth trackpad. Unfortunately, the Elan software driving this pointing device left us with fewer multi-touch gestures than we’ve become accustomed to with a Microsoft Precision Touchpad”. Laut Hexus handelt es sich um ein Trackpad mit guter Größe, dass sich angenehm anfühlt, doch in Verwendung etwas launisch sein kann.
Display
Der Bildschirm des Aero 14 bietet eine gute Balance aus Auflösung und Qualität. Das hochauflösende 2.560 x 1.440 Panel sieht laut TrustedReview ausgezeichnet aus. So ähnlich kommentiert Hexus, dass das Gigabyte ein IPS-Panel von LG mit ausgezeichneten Blickwinkeln, einer matten Oberfläche und QHD-Auflösung bietet, die für einen 14-Zoll-Bildschirm optimal ist. Und der Tester von ComputerShopper sagt: “We have nothing bad to say about the Gigabyte’s screen. Colors, contrast and viewing angles are all impressive”. Wie TechRadar bewertet, ist der Bildschirm des Aero 14 erstklassig. Der Bildschirm ist so hell, dass 50 % der Bildschirmhelligkeit ausreicht, um das Sonnenlicht, welches in ihr Büro einfällt, zu überstrahlen.
Audio
Leider hinterlassen die Lautsprecher des Gigabyte Aero 14 laut TechRadar nicht annähernd einen so guten Eindruck. Sie reichen für Musik-Wiedergabe und Gaming, wenn wir keinen Kopfhörer nutzen wollen. In puncto Soundqualität sind sie mittelmäßig. „For a laptop with a fat battery and fat performance, getting phat beats like it’s the 90’s is challenging. I wouldn’t give it any awards, but it got the job done and, in laptops, that’s good enough”, bewertet UnlockedNewEgg. Überraschenderweise sind die Lautsprecher für TrustedReview ganz gut. Während der Tester dieser Seite mit ihnen keine sound-kritischen Games spielen würde, so bieten sie Stereo-Trennung und einen ausreichend ausgewogenen Klang und können außerdem sehr laut werden.
Leistung
Die meisten neuen Laptops der Gigabyte-Aero-14-Serie werden durch den jüngsten Intel Core i7-7700HQ der Kaby-Lake-Generation angetrieben: eine Quad-Core CPU, die 8 Threads gleichzeitig abarbeiten kann mit einer Taktrate von 2,8 GHz (Turbo-Takt: 3,8 GHz). Die restlichen, älteren Modelle sind mit einem Intel Core i7-6700HQ Quad-Core-Prozessor der Skylake-Generation ausgestattet. Dies und das großzügige 16 GB 2133 MHz RAM hilft bei Aufgaben wie Video-Rendering und Photobearbeitung. Die Leistung scheint im Geekbench 4 Benchmark, in welchem das Aero 14 laut TrustedReview Ergebnisse von 4.229 und 1.2903 in den Single-Core bzw. Multi-Core-Tests erreichte. Laut dieser Seite ist die verbaute Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 Grafikkarte nahezu identisch mit ihrem Desktop-Bruder und zudem ähnlich leistungsstark. Dank 6 GB GDDR5 VRAM laufen auf diesem Chip die neuesten Games in Full-HD-Auflösung und hohen Einstellungen, ohne dass er zu stark ins schwitzen kommen würde. Ergebnisse von Hexus: „Getting in excess of 60 frames per second is achievable in most modern titles if you knock the resolution down to full-HD. It isn’t quite so easy at native QHD, you may find you’ll need to drop quality settings in order to get silky-smooth action at the highest available resolution”. TechRadar testete durch Spielen von The Division, das 52 fps bei 1080p Ultra und 112 fps bei Low 1080p erreichte. GTA V 1080p Ultra erreichte 39 fps bzw. 115 fps für Low 1080p. Und UnlockedNewEgg zeigte, dass das Aero 65 bis 70 fps bei 1440p-Auflösung schafft. Reduziert man die Auflösung auf 1080p, erhöht sich die Framerate auf bis zu 100 fps in Epic Mode in Overwatch.
Temperatur
„Heat-wise, the bottom of the Aero does become fairly toasty when gaming, which isn’t surprising. I’d suggest gaming with it on some sort of lap tray to help with airflow - and to keep your knees cool”, klagt TrustedReview. Hexus berichtet, dass das System der Aero-14-Serie beim Gaming deutlich warm wird, doch die Lüfter die Hitze gut ableiten und zu ihrer Überraschung das Geräusch nicht unausstehlich ist. Der Laptop ist im Idle-Betrieb ausreichend leise und, obwohl der Lüfter deutlich hörbar ist, wenn einer der Prozessoren belastet wird, ist das Geräusch bei allgemeiner Arbeit wahrscheinlich kein großes Problem.
Akkulaufzeit
Über die Akkulaufzeit befindet der Tester von UnlockedNewEgg, dass Gigabyte in puncto Akku-Steuerung und Leistungsdrosselung in Abhängigkeit von der benötigten Leistung eine gute Arbeit geleistet hat. Seiner Meinung nach ist es ziemlich beeindruckend, dass man am Flughafen an der Steckdose einige Runden Overwatch spielen kann und dann noch genug Akkulaufzeit für einen 5-Stunden Flug hat. Laut TrustedReview schafft das Gigabyte Aero 14 8:20 Stunden in ihrem sehr leichten Powermark Akku-Benchmark und zwischen sechs und sieben Stunden bei normaler Verwendung. Laut TechRadar hielt das portable System am längsten während ihres Video-Tests durch, welcher einen lokal gespeichertes 1080p-Video bei 50 % Helligkeit und Lautstärke in einer Schleife 4:49 Minuten lang abspielt. Dagegen meint Hexus: „Our battery rundown test entails looping a HD movie clip with 50% screen brightness and all wireless radios disabled, and in this scenario the 14-inch Gigabyte machine managed to keep going for the best part of nine hours”.
Fazit
Insgesamt fasst TechRadar zusammen, dass Gigabytes Gamings-Laptops schon immer herausragende Leistung in einem schlanken Gerät mit leistbarem Preis geboten hätte und das Aero 14 keine Ausnahme wäre. Im Besonderen übertrifft diese Serie seine Kollegen mit besseren Benchmark-Ergebnissen bei einem deutlich niedrigeren Preis. Das Gigabyte Aero 14 bietet viele Vorteile wie: leichtes und schlankes Design oder das 190-Grad-Bildschirmscharnier. Zudem bietet der Laptop nicht nur die solide Gaming-Leistung mit Intels jüngsten, leistungsstarken Prozessoren, sondern auch ein stattliches Quad-HD-IPS-Display. Wenn es eine Mangel am Aero 14 gibt, so könnte das die unerwartete Audioqualität sein, die im Vergleich mit dem Gesamtgerät schlechter ist. Im Allgemeinen handelt es sich laut TrustedReview um einen schlanken und leichten Gaming-Laptop, der nicht die Welt kostet und es Wert ist, gelobt zu werden. “Gigabyte’s understated Aero 14 is a sleeper in performance laptop market. It’s undeniably a Macbook Pro killer”, resümiert UnlockedNewEgg.

Das ist allerdings auch notwendig, denn wenn der Nutzer ein leistungshungriges Spiel startet, wäre ein normaler Stromspeicher dann doch etwas schnell lehr. Trotz all der Ausstattung wiegt das Notebook lediglich 1,89 Kilogramm, kann also wirklich problemlos mitgenommen werden.

The textured portion is absolutely breathtaking and contrasts with the laptop’s default colour tone remarkably well. This evokes such a sense of pride when using the product and it feels like you’re receiving an expensive piece of equipment.

There is hardly anything bad to say about the laptop, all seems to work smooth and clean. From what I can see, this praising group of people is spot on. All of the important aspects are in check: the trio of CPU/RAM/storage are excellent, gaming performance is super with GTX1060, plenty of ports allow for many add-ons and the light weight lets you travel easy with the laptop. It is one of the pricier models for sure – but if you want all the good things in one package (performance, gaming, portability), you will find splendid value in this Gigabyte laptop!

Luftiger Langläufer. Mit dem Aero 14 will Gigabyte erstmals im Segment der mobilen Gaming-Notebooks punkten. Dazu packt der Hersteller High-End-Hardware in ein gelungenes Alu-Gehäuse und spendiert dem 14-Zöller einen WQHD-Bildschirm sowie einen ungewöhnlich potenten Akku. Soviel vorab: Die Leistung stimmt. Ganz ohne Kompromisse kommt der kompakte Tausendsassa aber nicht aus.

I’m very impressed with the storage performance, and the system boot times and how fast it loads games is certainly a pleasure. Even the USB 3.0 performance was pretty swift. The LED lit keyboard is nice, as is the large and responsive touchpad. Finally, little additions like the macro keys, the webcam, and the surprisingly punchy speakers all add up to a great value for money package.

I’m very impressed with the storage performance, and the system boot times and how fast it loads games is certainly a pleasure. Even the USB 3.0 performance was pretty swift. The LED lit keyboard is nice, as is the large and responsive touchpad. Finally, little additions like the macro keys, the webcam, and the surprisingly punchy speakers all add up to a great value for money package.

The Gigabyte Aero 14 OLED is a VERY well-built laptop, however, I am NOT impressed with the wimpy RTX 4050. If you’re considering this model I would definitely recommend checking out the RTX 4060 version of the Gigabyte Aero 14 OLED.

Gigabyte: Gigabyte Technology ist ein 1986 gegründeter taiwanesischer Hersteller von Computerhardware, der vor allem für seine Motherboards und Grafikkarten bekannt ist. Gigabyte bietet eine breite Palette an Produkten an, darunter Motherboards, Grafikkarten, Laptops, Monitore, Systeme und Komponenten. Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

14 Zoll Display-Grösse stellt ein Mittelding zwischen den kleinen Subnotebook-Formaten und den Bildschirmen der 15 Zoll-Standard-Laptops dar.
Der Grund der Beliebtheit mittelgrosser Displays ist, dass diese Größe einigermaßen augenschonend ist, gute Auflösungen mit brauchbaren Detailgrößen liefern und dennoch nicht allzu viel Strom verbraucht und die Geräte noch halbwegs kompakt sein können.
Früher waren 14 Zoll-Geräte sehr selten, jetzt stellen sie nach den 15-Zollern den Standard bei Laptops dar.
