Das HP ZBook 14 G2 ist eine portable mobile Workstation mit zahlreichen Features. Der Laptop hat ein traditionelles, vollständig schwarzes Design eines typischen Business-Geräts. Der Bildschirm sieht mit einer Kombination aus einer texturierten Fläche um ein Metallstück mit HP-Logo in der Mitte hochwertig aus. Das HP ZBook 14 G2 ist HPs dünnstes und leichtestes ZBook-Workstation-Ultrabook und ergibt ein ideales Setup für Power-User unterwegs. Wie die meisten Profi-Laptops für die Arbeit kann das HP ZBook 14 G2 konfiguriert und an die Anforderungen angepasst werden. Es gibt einige Betriebssystemoptionen von Ubuntu bis zu Windows 8.1 64 bit. In puncto Hardware kann zwischen Intel i5 Prozessoren oder der leistungsstärkeren Intel-i7-Familie bis zur Intel i7-5600U gewählt werden. Bis zu 16 GB RAM sind möglich und das HP ZBook 14 G2 verfügt über eine eigenständige AMD FirePro M4150 GPU als Zusatz-Feature. The HP ZBook 14u G4 has a place in the market, especially for those who need to do things like access complex CAD files on the go, or for engineers or content professionals who are on their feet or on location for much of the day. Certain classes of technically minded students will also find the machine attractive, both for its durable build quality and its pricing. You can get into a FirePro workstation-class graphics chip for under a grand here in the base model, although in most other respects, the rest of the machine at that price amounts to, essentially, a well-built midrange mainstream laptop.

HP: 1939 gegründet, ist das US-Unternehmen ein wichtiger Server und Druckerhersteller und eines der führenden IT-Unternehmen weltweit. Bis 2015 hieß das Unternehmen Hewlett-Packard Company. Nach einer Aufspaltung wurde der Computer-Bereich in HP Inc. umbenannt.
2023 hatte HP einen ungefähren Marktanteil von 22% am weltweiten PC-Absatz und war damit die Nummer 2 nach Lenovo.
Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
AMD FirePro M4100: Professionelle Workstation-Grafikkarte basierend auf der GCN-Architektur mit GDDR5-Grafikspeicher und zertifizierten Treibern für CAD- und DCC-Applikationen.
AMD FirePro W4190M: Basiert auf der Radeon HD 8790M / FirePro W4170M und ist damit eine GCN-basierte DirectX 12 Mittelklasse-Grafikkarte

14 Zoll Display-Grösse stellt ein Mittelding zwischen den kleinen Subnotebook-Formaten und den Bildschirmen der 15 Zoll-Standard-Laptops dar.
Der Grund der Beliebtheit mittelgrosser Displays ist, dass diese Größe einigermaßen augenschonend ist, gute Auflösungen mit brauchbaren Detailgrößen liefern und dennoch nicht allzu viel Strom verbraucht und die Geräte noch halbwegs kompakt sein können.
Früher waren 14 Zoll-Geräte sehr selten, jetzt stellen sie nach den 15-Zollern den Standard bei Laptops dar.
