In den Online-Shops ist das S10-3 M33D6GE Schwarz jedoch bereits gelistet. Der Preis von 329 Euro zeigt, dass Lenovo den Preiskampf nicht als Ultima Ratio ansieht. Die Pine Trail 10-Zoller von Asus, Acer, Packard Bell oder MSI kosten zwischen 249 und 299 Euro. Was bietet Lenovo für den Mehrpreis?

So begeistert ich von dem alternativen Bedienkonzept eigentlich bin, so enttäuschend ist die Umsetzung von Lenovo. Am IdeaPad S10-3T hat man einfach zu häufig den Eindruck, dass dieses Konzept noch nicht ausgereift ist. Man muss sozusagen immer wieder ein paar Haken schlagen, um zu seinem Ziel zu kommen. Sicher hilft die Kalibrierung und etwas Übung bei der Bedienung des Bildschirms, aber immer wieder auf das Touchpad zurückgreifen zu müssen lässt keinen anderen Schluss zu.

Lenovo's IdeaPad S10-3 may offer a newer processor and DDR3 memory but that doesn't really garner much additional performance out of a meager netbook platform. What users will really enjoy is the excellent keyboard, Bluetooth connectivity and a QuickStart OS for doing minor tasks on the go. The new integrated button Touchpad design leads to problems though especially when clicking the buttons.

The third-generation, 10.1-inch Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3 is a 1.5kg business-oriented netbook that's a bit pricier per spec than the competition. Most other 10.1-inch, 1024-by-600-resolution netbooks sell for marginally less with the same 1GB Intel N450/3150 CPU/GPU combination, although you do get a capacious 250GB hard drive. The Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3 10in netbook is much more than the sum of its parts. Type and point with one before you grab something else.

Everything Lenovo sells, including the third-gen, 10.1-inch IdeaPad S10-3 netbook ($369, as of 3/29/10) appears to be intended for the board or meeting room--in this case, perhaps the meeting room imagined in Terry Gilliam's movie Brazil (the top or cover of the unit has a slightly psychedelic red checkerboard pattern)--but a meeting room nonetheless. Superior input ergonomics will sell this comparatively overpriced netbook.

And it offers decent performance and battery life (while falling far short of the 10+ hours of run time offered by some of its competitors). But there’s one major problem with the S10-3, and that’s the awful Touchpad. If you’re a USB mouse kind of person, or if you don’t have a problem with integrated mouse buttons, then the Lenovo ideaPad S10-3 is definitely worth checking out.

Lenovo did a lot of things right with the S10-3. Its design and keyboard are much improved over the previous generation, the speakers are positively booming (for a netbook), and its instant-on environment is easily the most attractive among netbooks. However, like the Dell Inspiron Mini 10, we’re not enamored with the Touchpad and integrated buttons. So far, the only company that has gotten this right is Apple, although they have a lot more real estate to work with.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150: Integrierte (shared memory) Grafikkarte welche im Prozessor Intel Atom N4xx integriert ist. Basiert laut Intel auf einen "optimierten" X3100 Kern, ist jedoch nur minimal schneller als der alte GMA 950. Daher für HD Videos und 3D Spiele nicht geeignet.

Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen.  Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.

Intel Atom: Die Intel Atom Serie besteht aus 64-Bit Mikroprozessoren für günstige und stromsparende Notebooks, MIDs oder UMPC. Besonderheit der Architektur, ist das die Befehle nicht wie derzeit üblich (z. B. Intel Core Architekture oder AMD Turion) "out of Order"  sondern  "in  Order"  ausgeführt  werden. Dadurch verliert man zwar einiges an Performance, jedoch spart dies Transistoren und daher Kosten und dadurch auch etwas Strom.

N450: Intel Atom CPU für Netbooks mit integriertem DDR2 Speichercontroller und GMA 3150 Grafik. Die Leistung ist nur etwas besser eine Kombination aus N270 / GMA950, jedoch ist der gesamte Stromverbrauch deutlich besser. 10.1": Es handelt sich um ein kleines Displayformat für Subnotebooks bzw. sind 10 Zoll das Standardformat für Netbooks. Der Vorteil der Mini-Notebooks liegt darin, dass das Gerät klein dimensioniert sein kann und daher leicht tragbar ist. Das vergleichsweise kleine Display hat noch den Vorteil wenig Strom zu benötigen, was die Akkulaufzeit und damit die Mobilität weiter verbessert. Der Nachteil ist, dass das Lesen von Texten relativ anstrengend für die Augen ist. Hohe Auflösungen sind nur bedingt nutzbar wegen zu kleiner Schrift- und Icongröße.

72.67%: Diese Bewertung ist schlecht. Die meisten Notebooks werden besser beurteilt. Als Kaufempfehlung darf man das nicht sehen. Auch wenn Verbalbewertungen in diesem Bereich gar nicht so schlecht klingen ("genügend" oder "befriedigend"), meist sind es Euphemismen, die eine Klassifikation als unterdurchschnittliches Notebook verschleiern.
