The differences among netbooks are increasing, and the lines between netbooks and notebooks are blurring—at least physically. The MSI U210, for example, is a netbook with a 12-inch screen, full keyboard, fast AMD Neo processor, 2GB of memory, and HDMI port. Its battery life may not inspire frequent travelers, but the U210 is equipped with many parts that typical netbooks don't give you.

MSI’s Wind U210, the latest generation of Wind-series netbooks, is a bone-crushing competitor in the netbook arena. MSI claims that the U210 performs like a notebook. We tested the Wind's U210-006US configuration (available through MSI for $479 and through Newegg or Amazon for $429.99), and we were blown away by the results. The 3.2-pound U210-006US offers up a stylish design and spectacular performance. The battery life isn’t the best, but we’ve seen much worse in much weaker units that are more expensive. Built around an AMD Athlon Neo CPU, this sleek netbook is a record-breaking performer, but its battery life could be stronger.

This inexpensive ultraportable offers better performance than a netbook, but short battery life holds it back. At $479, the MSI Wind U210 is pretty good for the price. It’s not as powerful or long lasting as more expensive ultraportables powered by Intel’s ULV processors, but it’s a viable option for someone who is willing to spend just a little bit more to get a bigger display and better performance than a netbook. Just be sure to remove some of that bundled software if you want a faster boot time.

ATI Radeon Xpress X1250: Auf AMD M690G verbauter onboard Grafikchip. Manchmal auch Mobilty Radeon X1250 genannt. Basierend auf X700 Design, jedoch mit weniger Pixel- und Vertexpipelines. Für Spieler kaum geignet. Windows Vista Aero tauglich.

Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen.  Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.

AMD Athlon Neo:

12.1": Es handelt sich um ein relativ häufiges Displayformat für Subnotebooks. Es stellt die durchschnittliche Grösse für Subnotebooks dar. Netbooks dagegen haben noch kleinere Displays. Der Vorteil von Subnotebooks liegt darin, dass das Notebook klein dimensioniert sein kann und daher leicht tragbar ist. Der kleine Display hat noch den Vorteil wenig Strom zu benötigen, was die Akkulaufzeit und damit die Mobilität weiter verbessert. Der Nachteil ist, dass das Lesen von Texten etwas anstrengend für die Augen ist. Hohe Auflösungen sind nur bedingt nutzbar.

MSI: Micro-Star International (MSI) wurde 1986 in Taiwan gegründet. MSI ist besonders als Hersteller von Hauptplatinen und Grafikkarten für PCs bekannt, bietet darüber hinaus Computerzubehör, Komplettsysteme und Notebooks an. Das Unternehmen beschäftigt weltweit etwa 16.900 Mitarbeiter und besitzt Werke in China und Taiwan. Der Markenname Microstar gehört in Deutschland allerdings der Firma Medion. Der Umsatz belief sich im Jahr 2005 auf ca. 1,52 Mrd. €. Als Notebook-Hersteller ist MSI erst seit 2005 einem breiteren Publikum bekannt und vermarktet seine Mobilcomputer weltweit, allerdings mit eher bescheidenen Marktanteilen.

77.2%: Weltbewegend ist diese Bewertung nicht. Obwohl es bei den meisten Websites einem "Befriedigend" entspricht, muss man bedenken, dass es kaum Notebooks gibt, die unter 60% erhalten. Verbalbewertungen in diesem Bereich klingen oft nicht schlecht, sind aber oft verklausulierte Euphemismen. Dieses Notebook wird von den Testern eigentlich als unterdurchschnittlich angesehen, eine Kaufempfehlung kann man nur mit viel Wohlwollen darin sehen.
