Da wären zum einen das sehr geringe Gewicht und die extrem flache Bauweise. Die Tablets der Galaxy S2-Serie profitieren zum anderen weiterhin von der Super-AMOLED-Display-Technik, die für eine tolle Bildqualität sorgt.

Neben dem flachen Gehäuse ist es vor allem das Gewicht, das uns beim Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 besonders beeindruckt. Auf dem Papier klingt es nicht nach viel, doch im alltäglichen Tablet-Umgang machen 50 Gramm mehr oder weniger auf den Rippen eben doch einen riesigen Unterschied.

Fangen wir mal mit dem Negativsten an was es momentan gibt und das ist die nicht aktuelle Android Version. Das Tab S2 hat momentan noch Android 5.0.2 installiert, wo doch schon 5.1.1 Gang und Gebe ist. Wir hoffen, dass Samsung da in nächster Zeit nachbessert. Ansonsten kann man aber sagen, dass Samsung mit dem Gerät eine sehr gute Arbeit abgegeben hat.

Das Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 ist ein richtig tolles Tablet. Das Display ist eine Wucht, mehr Pixel wären nur auf dem Papier wirklich sinnvoll. Der Prozessor ist nicht mehr ganz State of the Art, aber auch nicht weit davon entfernt - entsprechend schnell läuft das Tab S2. Über die Bautiefe muss man auch kein weiteres Wort verlieren, dünner geht es derzeit einfach nicht.

With the 32GB Wi-Fi only version costing £399 direct from Samsung, the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 is priced on a par with the 16GB 9.7-inch iPad Air 2. It has the same screen resolution in a lighter and thinner package, and of course more storage, so it’s clear to see what the target is here. The Samsung offers good performance in everyday use and is likely to deliver better battery life than the iPad as well.

Is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 the slate to unseat Apple? Not quite, but in many ways it feels like an Android iPad. It’s a joy to use thanks to a thin and light design, a big and bright screen and plenty of power, which are the most important things really. Well, those and battery life, which isn’t quite as good as it could be, but there’s still enough juice here to see you through an average day of use with ease. All that and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 won’t cost you any more than an iPad mini 4. It’s not as beautiful to behold as Apple’s tablets and with a not fully premium design it doesn’t feel quite as high-end, but if you’re after an Android slate with a great screen then this is right up there.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2's strongest aspect is its size and the weight, giving you plenty of display, while remaining light and slimline. There's lot to like about this tablet. There's a great deal of vibrancy to the display and while that looks good in many apps, it can be a little over-bearing depending on the content you're viewing. It adds pop to website images, but isn't as natural when it comes to watching your favourite movies. We like the 4:3 aspect though, as it's convenient when reading and browsing.

This feels almost completely obvious but the Tab S2 9.7" is definitely the most compelling tablet that Samsung has released to date, and I think it's a good overall upgrade over the Tab S 10.5". Over the course of the review I've found some aspects of the Tab S2 to be really great, and others that need improvement next time around. It's worth going over them all again before coming to any final conclusions about the tablet.

I personally prefer the smaller size because of its portability—I typically travel with just my purse on me. There's no doubt the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is an impressive tablet. It's slim, light and has a generally excellent screen, as long as you're willing to put up with a slight yellow tint for the sake of excellent contrast. However, it sits in an odd position in the tablet market. It's the same price as the iPad Air 2, which has superior performance, if worse battery life, and is up to £200 more than the price-yoyoing Google Nexus 9, which isn't as nice an object but has stronger performance.

We expect the device’s dimensions to be its defining feature and for a good reason - the Tab S2 9.7 breaks the rules about how a full size tablet should handle. The chipset found in the device raised a few eyebrows, as it isn’t the most powerful solution available at the moment. It is however, a massive improvement over the SoC found in the tablet’s predecessor.

Although we've only had hands-on time with the Galaxy Tab S2 it's clear to see that it's a great tablet – even if it has suddenly matched the iPad on screen size, aspect ratio and resolution. The S2 wins on dimensions but it's so close that this is really just bragging rights and both tablets have top-notch specs. Aside from the choice between iOS and Android storage and price are the big differences here with that potentially deal breaking Micro-SD card slot found on Samsung's tablet only.

Modell: Das Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 ist ein umfassendes Tablet für User, die etwas mehr Übersicht auf einem 9,7 Zoll großen Bildschirm wünschen. Ein Verkaufsargument ist das 4:3-Seitenverhältnis, mit welchen sich Lesen vom Bildschirm natürlicher anfühlen soll. In puncto Design sieht das Gerät so ziemlich wie die meisten Samsung Geräte aus. Die Kanten sind abgerundet und der physikalische Home-Button ist von berührungsempfindlichen Menu- und Back-Tasten umgeben. Die Abdeckung an der Rückseite ist leicht texturiert, um sich angenehm anzufühlen. Das Chassis selbst ist solide mit hochwertiger Haptik. Abhängig von den Anforderungen kann der Nutzer zwischen zwei Modellen wählen: nur WLAN oder mit 3G/LTE.

Der 9,7 Zoll große Super AMOLED Bildschirm verfügt über ein Pixeldichte von 264 ppi. Das Android 5.0.2 bietet eine Octa-Core-Architektur, die sich aus zwei Quad-Core-Prozessoren mit 1,9 GHz bzw. 1,3 GHz zusammensetzt. Diese ist mit 3 GB RAM und entweder 32 GB oder 64 GB internem Speicher kombiniert. Zu den weiteren Features zählen Bluetooth 4.1, A-GPS und microUSB 2.0. Die Bildaufnahmefähigkeiten sind mit einer 8-MP-Autofokus-Kamera und einer 2.1-MP-Frontkamera gut. Für lange Akkulaufzeit gibt es einen Lithium-Ion-Akku mit einer Nennkapazität von 5870 mAh.
