All of this may come off like there are a lot of negatives about the NB505, and there are, but remember: It’s less than 300 bucks. If you don’t like it, park it in the kitchen and use it for recipes. Keep it in your sock drawer in case of emergency. Or, give it to an orphan and write it off on your taxes. If the bottom line really is the bottom line, the NB505 is ultimately a surprisingly good netbook choice.

While Toshiba's NB500-series is stylish across the board and the speakers on the higher-end models are certainly impressive, we can't help but think the NB550D's C50 CPU is poorly complemented by a sub-HD Ready screen and only 1GB of RAM (we hope a higher-specced model will be brought out soon). However, if its price remains below £300 it's likely to be a very strong contender, especially considering its premium feel and impressive battery life claims.

Toshiba's mini NB505 is essentially a redesign of the previous NB255. It shares much of the same specifications and performance as the previous model but with a more clean finish. Toshiba does a good job of producing a higher quality feel netbook compared to many other models but they also charge a slightly high price. Overall, it is an average netbook that may win out on looks or feel which is all personal preference.

It doesn't get much cheaper than $299, and for the price the Toshiba mini NB505 delivers style and substance. The EasyGrip finish, comfy keyboard, and more than 7 hours of battery life add up to one of the best bargain netbooks yet. For the same price, the student-focused HP Mini 1103 has a faster 7,200-rpm hard drive and lasts an hour longer on a charge, but there's something to be said for the NB505's color options. If you're on a budget, the mini NB305 is an excellent choice.

Yes, this review is overloaded with the adjectives standard, usual, and cookie-cutter. Don't shoot the messenger--or the vendor; it's the species that has settled into a mind-numbingly routine and somewhat underpowered configuration. If you intend to use the NB505-508GN for what it's tasked for--Web surfing, light e-mail, the occasional short word document--it's as good as you'll find in its price range (around $310, as of 3/29/11).

Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen.  Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150: Integrierte (shared memory) Grafikkarte welche im Prozessor Intel Atom N4xx integriert ist. Basiert laut Intel auf einen "optimierten" X3100 Kern, ist jedoch nur minimal schneller als der alte GMA 950. Daher für HD Videos und 3D Spiele nicht geeignet.

Intel Atom: Die Intel Atom Serie besteht aus 64-Bit Mikroprozessoren für günstige und stromsparende Notebooks, MIDs oder UMPC. Besonderheit der Architektur, ist das die Befehle nicht wie derzeit üblich (z. B. Intel Core Architekture oder AMD Turion) "out of Order"  sondern  "in  Order"  ausgeführt  werden. Dadurch verliert man zwar einiges an Performance, jedoch spart dies Transistoren und daher Kosten und dadurch auch etwas Strom.

N455: Intel Atom CPU für Netbooks mit integriertem DDR2 / DDR3 Speichercontroller (als Unterschied zum sonst identischen N450) und GMA 3150 Grafik. Die Gesamtleistung sollte dank des DDR3 Hauptspeicher nur minimal über einem N450 liegen und daher immer noch auf dem Level N270 / GMA950.

10.1: Es handelt sich um ein kleines Displayformat für Subnotebooks bzw. sind 10 Zoll das Standardformat für Netbooks. Der Vorteil der Mini-Notebooks liegt darin, dass das Gerät klein dimensioniert sein kann und daher leicht tragbar ist. Das vergleichsweise kleine Display hat noch den Vorteil wenig Strom zu benötigen, was die Akkulaufzeit und damit die Mobilität weiter verbessert. Der Nachteil ist, dass das Lesen von Texten relativ anstrengend für die Augen ist. Hohe Auflösungen sind nur bedingt nutzbar wegen zu kleiner Schrift- und Icongröße.

Dieses Subnotebook/Netbook gehört zu den leichtesten Notebooks überhaupt und kann hervorragend getragen werden. Es gibt nur wenige Sub-Notebooks/Netbooks, die noch leichter sind. 10 Zoll Displays passen in diesen Gewichtsbereich.

1.3 kg:

65%: Eine so schlechte Bewertung ist selten. Es gibt nur wenige Notebooks, die schlechter beurteilt wurden. Auch wenn Verbalbeurteilungen in diesem Bereich meist "genügend" oder "ausreichend" lauten, so sind dies meist Euphemismen.
