Toshiba stößt mit seinem Mini-Notebook auf einen gesättigten Markt vor. Dort haben nur solche Modelle eine Chance, die entweder beim Preis oder bei den Merkmalen hervor stechen. Toshiba kann keine solchen Merkmale bieten, das NB200-113 ist ein fast schon langweiliger Mini mit einer sehr guten Tastatur. Technisch haben wir es mit einem typischen Intel Atom System zu tun, das entsprechende Leistungswerte abliefert. Die Mobilität hält sich mit dem 3-Zellen-Akku in engen Grenzen: Gut drei Stunden sind möglich.

Toshiba lässt mit dem NB 200 seine zweite Netbook Generation auf die Kunden los. Auch wenn sich bei der Hardware kaum was getan hat, so hat sich Toshiba hinsichtlich Optik und Design mächtig ins Zeug gelegt – mit Erfolg wie wir meinen. Wirkte das NB 100 mehr zweckdienlich als elegant, und durch den herausragenden Akkupack eher klobig, so ist beim NB 200 keine Spur mehr davon zu sehen. Ganz im Gegenteil. Das NB 200 macht einen sehr eleganten und schicken Eindruck, womit es sich in der Hinsicht auch mit dem Asus Eee PC 1002HE oder dem NC10 von Samsung messen kann. Ebenso konnte uns die saubere Verarbeitung des NB 200 überzeugen.

If there’s one conclusion that I can come up with for the NB200 it’s this — this netbook is the one to buy if you like a small, cheap computer without looking like you bought a small cheap computer. Performance is not too shabby either, especially the keyboard. While battery issues can be solved by buying the extended battery, I’d have preferred it if Toshiba had just put in a better set of speakers into the netbook as I often use mine for watching movies while on the go. However those are really minor niggles, especially when you consider that you get a pretty high quality and nice-looking notebook for RM1,699.

The Satin Brown NB200-10Z that we tested is superbly designed with a great exterior and interior colour scheme. We love the fact that the lid is not a fingerprint magnet unlike so many other netbooks with their glossy lids.

After spending some time with the NB205 it’s clear that this is a prime candidate for the hot netbook of the month. Toshiba got a lot right with this, including the design, the input devices, the size, and even the price. Of course there are some minor stumbles with the battery, performance, and sound, plus it’s not the lightest model out there, but it’s still a competitive machine. It’s probably not the best netbook on the market, but it’s not one to cross off your list without trying out, especially if you need the battery life. Note: The model we tested and photographed was the NB205-N312BL. There are other models in the NB200 series, not all of which have the same keyboard. Toshiba can't be blamed for the lack of evolution in the netbook platform, however infuriating it might be. Until someone deigns progress necessary (or nVidia ION systems begin to hit the shelves) all any company can do is make the best product possible under the limitations created by Microsoft and Intel. Toshiba has done just that with its second netbook, the NB200. Though it's bound by common restrictions, Toshiba has managed to add one or two unique features of its own and delivers in the all the right areas. There's no shortage of good netbooks these days, but the NB200 is definitely one of the best.

The battery life of the NB205 is among the best in class and should get you through a full day at school or the office. At a price of just $400 this might be a popular netbook for the back-to-school season. Still, despite these nice features, it's hard to overlook the flex and sound of weak plastics, the extremely flexible keyboard, and the weak speakers. Most netbooks have surprisingly firm keyboards, so we're more than a little disappointed that the keyboard on the NB205 practically "bounces" while you type on it.

This is about as high end as a low-end laptop gets. We admire Toshiba for finding a design hook, hanging itself off it, and resolutely staying there no matter how loudly the world shouts: the look of the NB200 we recieved is best summed up as 'diagonal stripes and plastic'. If you can find the black version we'd say the NB200 is a fantastic choice poking its head out above a busy crowd. Steer clear of the silver one, though.

Wer mit dem Gedanken spielt, sich ein Netbook anzuschaffen, stößt auf eine Vielzahl von Modellen, die auf den ersten Blick (zu) viele Gemeinsamkeiten haben – gerade bei der verbauten Hardware. Den Ausschlag geben daher eher Nuancen, Optik oder Preis. Das NB200-110 von Toshiba zieht mit seinem leistungsstarken Akku an den 3-Zellen-Exemplaren seiner Klasse vorbei und weiß mit einem schönen Design zu gefallen. Auch den Job als Schreibmaschine erfüllt das Toshiba NB200-110 mit der hochwertigen Tastatur sehr gut. Alternativen wären - im Hinblick auf die Akkulaufzeit - zum Beispiel die Asus Netbooks 1000HE oder 1005HA-H, das MSI Wind U110 Eco oder auch die Samsung Netbooks N110/120/140 beziehungsweise NC10.

Das NB200-110 erreicht die Gesamtnote GUT. Ein ausschlaggebender Grund ist die Akkulaufzeit von fast sieben Stunden. Das Notebook erbringt die typische Performance eines Intel Atom Prozessors. Zusätzlich ist das Netbook auch noch durchschnittlich leicht. Es passt prima anhand von Größe und Gewicht (1,5 Kilogramm) in eine Handtasche. Weder bei den Anschlüssen noch bei der Anzeige leistet sich Toshiba Highlights. Die Anschlüsse hören nach USB, VGA, LAN und Audio auf.

Als erstes Netbook knacket das Toshiba NB200-110 im Test die Zehn-Stunden-Marke. Auch Verarbeitung und Tastatur des Marathon-Netbooks überzeugten. Die Netbook-Hersteller reizen die technischen Möglichkeiten der Atom-Plattform immer weiter aus: Aktuelle Treiber machen Prozessor und Chipsatz sparsamer. Und ein größerer Akku sorgt für eine längere Laufzeit. Toshiba zum Bespiel stattet das NB200-110 mit einem großen 6-Zellen-Akku aus, der 63 Wattstunden fasst und hinten rund zwei Zentimeter über das Netbook-Gehäuse hinausragt. Die extrem hohe Ausdauer im Akkutest und die ordentliche Tastatur bringen das stabile Toshiba NB200-110 ganz nach vorne in der Netbook-Rangliste. Das Display ist allerdings nur Mittelmaß.

And at that price, it's a bargain. This netbook holds three aces: superb battery life, a great keyboard and a nice screen. If you can get it for under £300, with or without the current cashback offer, it's a superb buy.

The Toshiba NB200 is a solid all-around netbook that can be a good traveling companion. The lack of a built-in optical drive does not affect the usage of the system. Even with just the b/g wireless device, I am able to connect to all home and work networks with ease. Using the standard resolution the screen offers good clear viewing during browsing, office works and media playback. Surprisingly the speakers are clear for a small foot print notebook. I am further pleased by Windows 7 Ultimate performance on this comp. There is no shortage in system resources when switching between tasks.

Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen.  Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950: Integrierter (onboard) Grafikchip auf Mobile Intel 945GM/C/Z/ME/ML Chipsätzen und Nachfolger des GMA 900. Kein Hardware T&L (für manche Spiele benötigt). Für Spiele kaum geeignet.

Intel Atom: Die Intel Atom Serie besteht aus 64-Bit Mikroprozessoren für günstige und stromsparende Notebooks, MIDs oder UMPC. Besonderheit der Architektur, ist das die Befehle nicht wie derzeit üblich (z. B. Intel Core Architekture oder AMD Turion) "out of Order"  sondern  "in  Order"  ausgeführt  werden. Dadurch verliert man zwar einiges an Performance, jedoch spart dies Transistoren und daher Kosten und dadurch auch etwas Strom.

N270: Stromsparende und billige CPU mit schwacher Leistung und geringem Stromverbrauch. Durch die in-order Ausführung der Befehle langsamer als gleichgetaktete Pentium M / Core Solo / Celeron M.

N280: Typischer Netbook Prozessor und durch die geringe Leistung nur für Office, Web und andere einfache Applikationen sinnvoll einsetzbar. Im Vergleich zum N270 nur minimal höher getaktet, jedoch mit schnellerem FSB. Ein Celeron M mit 1.2 GHz bietet in etwa die selbe Leistung wie der N280.

10.1: Es handelt sich um ein kleines Displayformat für Subnotebooks bzw. sind 10 Zoll das Standardformat für Netbooks. Der Vorteil der Mini-Notebooks liegt darin, dass das Gerät klein dimensioniert sein kann und daher leicht tragbar ist. Das vergleichsweise kleine Display hat noch den Vorteil wenig Strom zu benötigen, was die Akkulaufzeit und damit die Mobilität weiter verbessert. Der Nachteil ist, dass das Lesen von Texten relativ anstrengend für die Augen ist. Hohe Auflösungen sind nur bedingt nutzbar wegen zu kleiner Schrift- und Icongröße.

Dieses Subnotebook/Netbook/UMPC, sofern man es als solches überhaupt bezeichnen kann, gehört zu den leichtesten Notebooks überhaupt und kann klarerweise hervorragend getragen werden. Es gibt kaum Sub-Notebooks, aber ein paar Netbooks in dieser extremen Gewichtsklasse. 7-9 Zoll Displays passen in diesen Gewichtsbereich.

1.4 kg:

Dieses Subnotebook/Netbook gehört zu den leichtesten Notebooks überhaupt und kann hervorragend getragen werden. Es gibt nur wenige Sub-Notebooks/Netbooks, die noch leichter sind. 10 Zoll Displays passen in diesen Gewichtsbereich.

80.81%: Diese Bewertung muss man eigentlich als durchschnittlich ansehen, denn es gibt etwa ebenso viele Notebooks mit besseren Beurteilungen wie Schlechteren. Die Verbalbeurteilungen klingen aber oft besser als sie wirklich sind, denn richtig gelästert wird über Notebooks eher selten. Obwohl dieser Bereich offiziell meist einem "Befriedigen" entspricht, passt oft eher "mäßiger Durchschnitt".
