Der Intel Core i7-4930MX ist ein High-End Quad-Core Prozessor auf Basis der Haswell-Architektur, der im zweiten Quartal 2013 vorgestellt wurde. Er löst den Core i7-3940XM als schnellsten Notebookprozessor ab und kann dank freiem Multiplikator einfach übertaktet werden. Dank Hyperthreading können die 4 Kerne gleichzeitig bis zu 8 Threads bearbeiten. Die in 22 Nanometer gefertigte CPU taktet mit 3,0 GHz, kann per Turbo Boost aber Frequenzen von bis zu 3,9 GHz erreichen (4 Kerne: 3,7 GHz, 2 Kerne: 3,8 GHz).

Haswell ist der Nachfolger der 2012 vorgestellten Ivy-Bridge-Architektur und soll vor allem mit höherer Performance und verbesserter Energieeffizienz punkten. So wurde sowohl die Sprungvorhersage optimiert als auch die Zahl der Ausführungseinheiten erhöht, wodurch die Pro-MHz-Leistung um etwa 5 bis 10 Prozent gesteigert werden konnte. Neue Befehlssatzerweiterungen wie AVX2 und FMA sollen die Performance in darauf ausgelegten Anwendungen zusätzlich verbessern.

Die Steigerung der Performance gegenüber Ivy Bridge resultiert einzig aus der verbesserten Pro-MHz-Leistung. Im Mittel erlaubt die stagnierende Taktrate aber nur ein Plus von weniger als 10 Prozent auf den i7-3940XM. Dies reicht jedoch aus, um selbst schnelle Desktop-Prozessoren wie einen i7-3770K zu erreichen oder gar zu übertrumpfen.

Für die Grafikausgabe zeigt sich die im Prozessor integrierte Intel HD Graphics 4600 verantwortlich, die mit 400 - 1350 MHz taktet. Das Performanceplus gegenüber der HD Graphics 4000 liegt bei rund 30 Prozent, was die HD 4600 näher an die Grafikeinheit der schnellsten Trinity-APUs von AMD heranbringt.

Gegenüber dem Vorgänger ist die maximale Leistungsaufnahme des i7-4930MX leicht auf 57 Watt (TDP) angestiegen, was auf die Integration der Spannungswandler in die CPU zurückzuführen ist. Damit ist die CPU lediglich für sehr große und schwere Notebooks ab 17 Zoll geeignet.

Der Intel Core i7-4610M ist ein High-End Dual-Core Prozessor auf Basis der Haswell-Architektur, der im erstem Quartal 2014 vorgestellt wurde. Dank Hyperthreading können die 2 Kerne gleichzeitig bis zu 4 Threads bearbeiten. Die in 22 Nanometer gefertigte CPU taktet mit 3,0 GHz, kann per Turbo Boost aber Frequenzen von bis zu 3,7 GHz erreichen (2 Kerne: 3,6 GHz). Die 2C-Turbo-Taktrate wurde vom Hersteller bislang noch nicht bestätigt.

Performance

Die Taktanhebung um 100 MHz gegenüber dem Core i7-4600M dürfte sich in einer minimalen Leistungssteigerung von rund 3 Prozent niederschlagen. Dies genügt jedoch, den 4610M zum schnellsten Dual-Core-Prozessor des ersten Halbjahres 2014 zu machen. In Single-Thread-Anwendungen erreicht die CPU sogar einen Core i7-4800MQ, fällt bei voller Auslastung aber etwa auf die Hälfte von dessen Performance zurück. Auch sehr anspruchsvolle Anwendungen und Multitasking werden problemlos bewältigt.

Grafikeinheit

Für die Grafikausgabe zeigt sich die im Prozessor integrierte Intel HD Graphics 4600 verantwortlich, die mit 400 - 1300 MHz taktet. Das Performanceplus gegenüber der HD Graphics 4000 liegt bei rund 30 Prozent, was die HD 4600 nahe an die Radeon HD 8650G von AMD heranbringt. Dies entspricht in etwa einer dedizierten Nvidia GeForce GT 720M.

Leistungsaufnahme

Der Core i7-4610M wird von Intel mit einer TDP von 37 Watt spezifiziert, worin auch der Speichercontroller, die GPU sowie Teile der Spannungswandler enthalten sind. Damit ist die CPU für Notebooks ab etwa 14 Zoll geeignet.
