Der Intel Core i5-6440HQ ist ein schneller Quad-Core-Prozessor für Notebooks auf Basis der Skylake-Architektur, der im September 2015 vorgestellt wurde. Neben den vier CPU-Kernen (kein Hyper-Threading-Support), die mit 2,6 bis 3,5 GHz takten (4 Kerne: max. 3,1 GHz, 2 Kerne: max. 3,3 GHz), integriert der Prozessor auch eine HD Graphics 530 Grafikeinheit sowie einen Dual-Channel-Speichercontroller (DDR3L-1600/DDR4-2133). Die Fertigung erfolgt in einem 14-Nanometer-Prozess mit FinFET-Transistoren.

Architektur

Mit Skylake löst Intel sowohl Broadwell als auch Haswell ab und setzt damit in sämtlichen TDP-Klassen von 4,5 bis 45 Watt wieder auf ein einheitliches Kerndesign. Zu den diversen Verbesserungen der Skylake-Architektur gehören unter anderem vergrößerte Out-of-Order-Buffer, Optimierungen bei Prefetching und Sprungvorhersage sowie stärkere Zugewinne durch Hyper-Threading (falls unterstützt). Insgesamt fallen die Änderungen für einen "Tock", das heißt eine neue Mikroarchitektur, jedoch eher klein aus, sodass die Pro-MHz-Leistung nur um etwa 5 bis 10 Prozent (gegenüber Haswell) respektive unter 5 Prozent (gegenüber Broadwell) ansteigt.

Performance

Bei Auslastung von maximal vier Threads erreicht der i5-6440HQ in etwa das Performance-Niveau eines i7-6700HQ oder i7-4720HQ (Haswell) beziehungsweise das Desktop-Modell Core i5-6600T. In noch besser parallelisierter Software fällt der Core i5 mangels Hyper-Threading-Unterstützung jedoch um bis zu 25 Prozent hinter die i7-Konkurrenz zurück. Dennoch werden selbst anspruchsvollste Anwendungen und exzessives Multitasking problemlos bewältigt.

Grafikeinheit

Die integrierte Grafikeinheit namens HD Graphics 530 repräsentiert die "GT2"-Ausbaustufe der Skylake-GPU (Intel Gen. 9). Die 24 Ausführungseinheiten, auch Execution Units oder EUs genannt, takten mit 350 bis 950 MHz und ermöglichen eine Performance etwa 25 Prozent oberhalb der alten HD Graphics 4600. Aktuelle Spiele des Jahres 2015 werden damit in niedrigen, selten auch mittleren Einstellungen flüssig dargestellt. Leistungsaufnahme

Entsprechend seiner TDP von 45 Watt ist der Chip vorrangig in größeren Notebooks ab etwa 15 Zoll zu finden. Optional kann die TDP auch auf 35 Watt abgesenkt werden (cTDP down), was allerdings die Performance mindert.

Der Intel Core i5-6267U ist ein Dual-Core-Prozessor für Note- und Ultrabooks auf Basis der Skylake-Architektur, der im September 2015 vorgestellt wurde. Neben den zwei CPU-Kernen samt Hyper-Threading, die mit 2,9 bis 3,3 GHz takten (2 Kerne: max. 3,1 GHz), integriert der Prozessor auch eine Iris Graphics 550 Grafikeinheit inkl. 64 MB eDRAM-Cache sowie einen Dual-Channel-Speichercontroller (DDR3L-1600/DDR4-2133). Die Fertigung erfolgt in einem 14-Nanometer-Prozess mit FinFET-Transistoren.

Statt wie bislang als Victim Cache zu fungieren, der umständlich über den L3-/LLC-Cache angesprochen werden muss, kann der eDRAM nun direkt von Programmen adressiert und als schnellere Vorstufe zum Hauptspeicher genutzt werden. Die Größe beträgt weiterhin 128 MB für die Quad-Core-Modelle (4C + GT4e), Dual-Core-Chips (2C + GT3e) müssen sich mit 64 MB begnügen.

Performance

Entsprechend der spezifizierten Taktraten sowie der leicht gestiegenen Pro-MHz-Leistung ordnet sich der Core i5-6267U noch vor einem Core i5-4210H (Haswell) ein und schlägt speziell bei Dauerbelastung auch einen Core i7-6600U (15 Watt TDP). Damit stehen auch für anspruchsvolle Anwendungen und Multitasking ausreichende Reserven bereit.

Grafikeinheit

Die integrierte Grafikeinheit namens Iris Graphics 550 repräsentiert die "GT3e"-Ausbaustufe der Skylake-GPU (Intel Gen. 9). Die 48 Ausführungseinheiten, auch Execution Units oder EUs genannt, takten mit 300 bis 1.050 MHz und dürften in Verbindung mit dem schnellen eDRAM-Cache eine Performance im Bereich einer dedizierten GeForce 930M erlauben. Leistungsaufnahme

Entsprechend der TDP von 28 Watt ist der Prozessor vorrangig in größeren Ultrabooks und Notebooks zu finden. Optional kann die TDP auch auf 23 Watt abgesenkt werden (cTDP down), was die Performance in einigen Situationen jedoch leicht schmälert.

Der Intel Core i5-6300U ist ein sparsamer Dual-Core-SoC auf Basis der Skylake-Architektur, der im September 2015 vorgestellt wurde. Die CPU wird hauptsächlich in Ultrabooks, aber auch gewöhnlichen Notebooks verbaut. Neben den zwei CPU-Kernen samt Hyper-Threading, die mit 2,4 bis 3,0 GHz takten (2 Kerne: max. 2,9 GHz), integriert der Prozessor auch eine HD Graphics 520 Grafikeinheit sowie einen Dual-Channel-Speichercontroller (DDR3L-1600/DDR4-2133). Die Fertigung erfolgt in einem 14-Nanometer-Prozess mit FinFET-Transistoren.

Leistungsaufnahme

Dank "Configurable TDP" kann die CPU ausgehend von den standardmäßigen 15 Watt auch mit einer TDP von 7,5 Watt (cTDP Down) oder 25 Watt (cTDP Up) betrieben werden, wodurch sich jedoch die Performance verändert. Je nach Einstellung ist der Chip für schlanke Note- und Ultrabooks ab etwa 11 Zoll Bilddiagonale geeignet.
