Der AMD A10-8700P ist das Mittelklasse-Modell der Carrizo-APU-Serie für Notebooks (6. APU-Generation), die Mitte 2015 vorgestellt wurde. Als vollwertiger SoC verfügt Carrizo darüber hinaus über einen integrierten Chipsatz, der sämtliche I/O-Ports bereitstellt.

Im Vergleich zum Topmodell FX-8800P (2,1 - 3,4 GHz) ist der A10 etwas geringer getaktet (1,8 - 3,2 GHz) und bietet weniger Shadereinheiten (6 vs. 8 Cores bzw. 384 statt 512 ALUs).

Carrizo löst die ältere Kaveri-Generation ab und soll vor allem mit verbesserter Energieeffizienz punkten. Unter anderem wird die Versorgungsspannungen nun in Abhängigkeit von Taktrate, Temperatur und Chipgüte exakter an die aktuellen Anforderungen angepasst, was insbesondere bei niedrigen Frequenzen zu signifikanten Verbrauchseinsparungen führt. Darüber hinaus bieten die neuen Excavator-CPU-Kerne von Carrizo eine etwa 5 Prozent höhere Pro-MHz-Leistung als das Steamroller-Design der Kaveri-Serie. Performance

Aufgrund der variablen TDP kann sich die Performance des A10-8700P von Gerät zu Gerät stark unterscheiden. Typischerweise wird der Chip mit 15 Watt konfiguriert und erreicht so eine CPU-Leistung, die in etwa mit einem Core i3-5005U (Broadwell, 15 Watt) vergleichbar ist. Für typische Office- und Internet-Anwendungen, aber auch anspruchsvollere Software und leichtes Multitasking stehen damit ausreichende Leistungsreserven bereit.

Grafikeinheit

Die integrierte Radeon R6 (Carrizo) GPU verfügt über 384 aktive Shadereinheiten (6 Compute Cores), die mit bis zu 800 MHz (teils auch nur max. 720 MHz) takten. Auch hier hängt die Performance stark von der eingestellten TDP ab, zudem beeinflusst die Geschwindigkeit des verbauten Arbeitsspeichers die Framerate. Mit 15 Watt TDP und DDR3-1600-RAM im Dual-Channel-Verbund liegt die Leistung im Bereich einer dedizierten Radeon R5 M240 und knapp oberhalb der HD Graphics 5500 von Intel, sofern die CPU nicht limitiert.
