Die AMD FirePro M2000 ist eine DirectX-11-Grafikkarte der unteren Mittelklasse für mobile Workstations (Notebooks). Sie wurde Mitte 2012 vorgestellt und basiert auf den Turks Chip der HD 7600M Serie. 

Die AMD FirePro Serie ist das Gegenstück zur Quadro Serie von Nvidia und bietet zertifizierte Treiber für professionelle 3D Anwendungen (CAD und DCC). Durch einige freigeschaltene Features und Optimierungen ist die Performance auch deutlich besser als bei Consumer Radeon Grafikchips.

Die 480 Stream Prozessoren entsprechen der alten Terascale 2 Architektur, zudem bietet die Karte 24 TMUs. Featureseitig werden weitestgehend dieselben Eigenschaften wie bei den Consumer-Modellen unterstützt, dazu zählt unter anderem der Multi-Monitor-Support per Eyefinity oder die Grafikumschaltung Enduro.

Die 3D Spiele-Leistung liegt durch die niedrige Taktrate sowie das schmale 64-Bit-Speicherinterface trotz GDDR5-VRAM (mit 800 bzw 3200 effektiv Takt) nur auf dem Niveau einer Radeon HD 7570M.

Die GPU besitzt einen integrierten HD Audio Prozessor.

Die Leistungsaufnahme der FirePro M2000 ist für Notebooks der 14-Zoll-Klasse und darüber geeignet.

Die AMD FirePro M6100 ist eine DirectX-12-Grafikkarte der High-End-Klasse für mobile Workstations (Notebooks), die Mitte 2013 vorgestellt wurde. Die AMD FirePro Serie ist das Gegenstück zur Quadro Serie von Nvidia und bietet zertifizierte Treiber für professionelle 3D Anwendungen (CAD und DCC). Durch einige freigeschaltene Features und Optimierungen ist die Performance in derartigen Programmen dadurch deutlich besser als bei Consumer Radeon Grafikchips.

Architektur

Die FirePro M6100 verfügt über 12 Compute Units auf Basis der GCN-Architektur. Insgesamt besitzt der Chip damit 768 Stream-Prozessoren. Der bis zu 2 GB große GDDR5-Speicher wird über ein 128 Bit breites Interface angebunden. Featureseitig werden dieselben Eigenschaften wie bei den Consumer-Modellen unterstützt, dazu zählt unter anderem der Multi-Monitor-Support per Eyefinity, die Grafikumschaltung Enduro oder PCIe 3.0. Technisch basiert die M6100 auf dem Bonaire-Grafikchip der Desktop Radeon HD 7790.

Performance

Dank der sehr hohen Taktraten von bis zu 1.100 MHz für den Chip und 1.500 MHz für den Speicher (6.000 MHz effektiv, 96 GB/s) liegt die 3D-Spiele-Leistung leicht oberhalb der Nvidia Quadro K4100M oder GeForce GTX 860M. Aktuelle Spiele des Jahres 2014/15 können damit zumeist in mittleren bis hohen Details und FullHD-Auflösung flüssig wiedergegeben werden.

Leistungsaufnahme

Die FirePro M6100 verfügt über eine Reihe verschiedener Energiesparmechanismen, die den Verbrauch mindern und damit die Akkulaufzeit verlängern sollen. Dazu gehören unter anderem PowerPlay und PowerTune (zur Taktsteuerung der GPU), ZeroCore (Abschaltung großer GPU-Teile bei inaktivem Display) sowie Enduro (dynamische Grafikumschaltung zwischen Prozessorgrafik und dedizierter Radeon-GPU). Dennoch dürfte die Fire Pro M6100 eine sehr hohe maximale Leistungsausnahme besitzen (vermutlich über 75 Watt) und damit nur für große und gut gekühlte Workstation-Notebooks ab 15 bis 17 Zoll geeignet sein.
