Als Pentium Dual-Core bezeichnet Intel eine Serie von Doppelkernprozessoren (CPUs mit 2 Rechenkernen) für Laptops und Notebooks. Sie sind unterhalb der Core 2 Duo Serie plaziert und daher preisgünstiger und langsamer. Dies wird von Intel durch geringere Taktraten und halbierten Level 2 Cache erreicht. Teilweise stammten die ersten Pentium-Dual Core auch noch vom Core Duo ab (Resteverwertung sozusagen).

Schüsseleigenschaften

  • Zwei 64 Bit Rechenkerne (Merom, ev. 64 Bit nicht aktiviert!) mit gemeinsamen L2 Cache (512-1024 MB)
  • Basiert auf Core 2 Duo Architektur
  • Sockel P (Merom)
  • L1-Cache 32+32 KB (Daten + Instruktionen)
  • Taktraten 1.6 GHz - derzeit 1.8 GHz (derzeit, Details siehe Liste unten)
  • 65nm  Herstellungsverfahren (derzeit, Details siehe Liste unten)
  • 35 W Verlustleistung
  • Eventuell weniger C-States zur Verfügung und daher höherer Stromverbrauch

Leistung

Die Celeron Dual-Core Serie zeigt eine Leistung welche vergleichbar bzw. etwas unter der eines gleichgetakteten Pentium-Dual Core liegt (je nach L2 Cache). Die Kerne sind von der Architektur vergleichbar, ev. fehlen den Celeron Modellen noch einige Stromsparfeatures (deaktiviert). 

Die Celeron Dual-Core mit 512 KB L2 Cache sollten sich in etwa auf dem Niveau eines gleichgetakteten Turion X2 befinden, die 1024 KB Modelle auf Niveau eines Turion X2 Ultra.
