Der Apple M1 Pro 8-Core ist ein System on a Chip (SoC) von Apple, der im Einstiegsmodell des Apple MacBook Pro 14 verbaut wird. Es ist ein abgespeckter M1 Pro mit nur 8 der 10 CPU Kerne aktiv und auch nur 14 der 16 Grafikkerne. Der CPU-Part bietet zwei Stromspar-Kerne (E-Cores) und 6 Performance-Kerne (P-Cores). Die Taktung der Performance-Kerne rangiert von 600 bis 3220 MHz, die Effizienz-Kerne können von 600 bis 2064 MHz takten. Einen kurzen Turbo Boost oder höhere Taktraten für einzelne Kerne gibt es nicht.  Neben den 24 MB L2 Cache, kann der M1 Pro auf 16 MB System Level Cache zurückgreifen.

Der Chip wird mit 16 GB LPDDR5-6400 Unified Memory ausgeliefert auf die CPU und GPU gleichzeitig zugreifen können und die mit einem schnellen 256 Bit Speicherbus (max. 200 GB/s) angebunden werden.

Weiters bietet der Chip eine 16-Kern-Neural-Engine für AI-Beschleunigung, die Secure Enclave, Unified Memory Architecture, ISP und Media De- und Encoder.

Der TDP des Chips wird nicht angegeben, die Package Power kann aber bis zu 46W betragen (CPU und GPU gemeinsam). Der Prozessor-Teil alleine kann sich ca 21,5 Watt genehmigen.

Der Chip wird im modernen 5nm Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt und soll sehr energieffizient sein.

Der Apple M1 ist ein System on a Chip (SoC) von Apple, der im Late 2020 MacBook Air und MacBook Pro 13 verbaut wird. Er integriert 8 Prozessorkerne in zwei Cluster. Vier schnelle Performance-Kerne mit 192 KB Instruction-Cache, 128 KB Data-Cache und 12 MB geteilten L2-Cache und vier Effizienz-Kerne mit 128 KB Instruction-Cache, 64 KB Data-Cache und 4 MB geteilten L2-Cache. Weiters integriert der SoC 16 MB Sstem Level Cache (geteilt mit der GPU).

Laut Apple sind die Performance-Cores die aktuell schnellsten der Welt und die Energieeffizienz deutlich besser als derzeitige Laptop-Chips. Die Stromsparkerne takten mit 600 - 2064 MHz, die Performance mit 600 - 3204 MHz.

Der M1 wird in zwei TDP Bereichen ausgeliefert. 10 Watt für das MacBook Air mit passiver Kühlung und wahrscheinlich wieder um die 28 Watt im MacBook Pro 13 und Mac Mini mit Lüfter.

Die integrierte Grafikkarte bietet 8 Kerne (im Einstiegs MacBook Air sind nur 7 aktiviert). Wenn alle 8 genutzt werden, bietet die GPU 128 Ausführungseinheiten mit einer theoretischen Leistung von 2,6 Teraflops. Dadurch soll sie die schnellsten iGPUs von Intel und AMD schlagen können (laut Apple).

Weiters bietet der Chip eine 16-Kern-Neural-Engine für AI-Beschleunigung mit bis zu 11 TOPS Rohleistung, die Secure Enclave, Unified Memory Architecture, Thunderbolt / USB 4 Controller, ISP und Media De- und Encoder.

Der Chip wird im modernen 5nm Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt und soll sehr energieffizient sein. Mit 16 Milliarden Transistoren ist der Chip sehr groß (doppelt so viele Transistoren wie die Tiger Lake U-Serie).
