Architektur und Features

Die Radeon R4 bietet zwei Kerne der dritten GCN Generation (in der Presse oft als GCN 1.2 oder 2.0 bezeichnet). Damit ist sie sehr ähnlich zu dem Tonga Desktop Chip und bietet DirectX 12 (FL 12_0) Hardware-Support. Weiters können auch per Mantle, OpenGL und OpenCL die Grafikkerne angesprochen werden. Außerdem unterstützt die Grafikkarte den HSA 1.0 Standard und kann damit effizient in Verbindung mit den CPU Kernen genutzt werden. Technisch entspricht die GPU exakt dem Vorgänger Carrizo.

Sie kommt zum Launch im AMD A10-9600P und A10-9630P zum Einsatz und bietet 6 aktive Compute Cores (384 Shader). Je nach Modell beträgt die maximale Taktung 720 MHz (15-Watt-Modelle) oder 800 MHz (35-Watt-Modelle). Je nach konfigurierter TDP und eingesetztem Hauptspeicher kann die Leistung deutlich variieren.

Performance

Durch die konfigurierbare TDP können erhebliche Leistungsunterschiede bei Spielen entstehen. Die typische ULV-Variante mit 15 Watt TDP erreicht mit schnellem Dual-Channel-Speicher knapp die Leistung einer GeForce 920M oder Radeon R7 M260.

Die AMD Radeon R7 (Bristol Ridge) ist eine integrierte Grafikeinheit der schnellsten mobiler AMD Carrizo-APUs. Zum Launch kommt die R7 z.B. im Topmodell FX-9830P mit 512 GCN-Shadereinheiten und 900 MHz Grafiktaktrate zum Einsatz. Technisch unterscheidet sich die GPU nicht von der AMD Radeon R7 in Carrizo, jedoch wird sie um bis zu 100 MHz höher getaktet. Je nach verbauter Kühllösung und damit konfiguriertem TDP (12-45 Watt) kann die Leistung sich deutlich unterscheiden.  Ausserdem hängt die Leistung stark vom verbauten Hauptspeicher ab (beste Leistung mit Dual-Channel DDR4).

Die Radeon R7 bietet laut AMD acht Kerne der dritten GCN Generation (in der Presse oft als GCN 1.2 oder 2.0 bezeichnet). Damit ist sie sehr ähnlich zu dem Tonga Desktop Chip und bietet DirectX 12 (FL 12_0) Hardware-Support. Weiters können auch per Mantle, OpenGL und OpenCL die Grafikkerne angesprochen werden. Außerdem unterstützt die Grafikkarte den HSA 1.0 Standard und kann damit effizient in Verbindung mit den CPU Kernen genutzt werden.

Im Vergleich zur Kaveri-Generation (Kaveri R7 mit GCN 1.1) verhilft vor Allem die neue Farbkomprimierung für eine bessere Speicherausnutzung und führt dadurch zu einer 5-7% höheren Performance in Spielen.

Die überarbeitete Videoeinheit Carrizos/Bristol Ridge beinhaltet den UVD 6 (Unified Video Decoder) welcher erstmals HVEC / H.265 und 4K vollständig in Hardware dekodieren kann. Performance

Durch den konfigurierbaren TDP der Kaveri Chips von 12 bis 45 Watt können erhebliche Leistungsunterschiede bei Spielen entstehen. Insgesamt sind leicht bessere Ergebnisse als bei der Carrizo Radeon R7 durch den höheren Takt bei vergleichbaren Modellen zu erwarten. Generell kann man jedoch die Kaveri R7 Seite für eine Performanceeinschätzung und Spieleleistung nutzen.
