Der Intel Atom Z500 ist ein stromsparender und sehr langsam getakteter Prozessor für MIDs und sehr kleine Netbooks. Die Performance der CPU reicht jedoch nur für sehr einfache Aufgaben. Dank Hyper-Threading können 2 Threads gleichzeitig auf dem einzelnen Kern zur besseren Auslastung ausgeführt werden. 64 Bit Befehle werden jedoch nicht unterstützt.

In Verbindung mit dem US15W (Poulsbo) Chipsatz brauch die Kombination knapp unter 3 Watt (0.65 + 2.3 W).

Intel Atom Z550

Der Intel Atom Z550 ist die stromsparende Version der Intel Atom Serie und daher ein Einzelkern-Prozessor für kleine Notebooks, Netbooks und MIDs. Im Vergleich zur N-Serie bietet der Z550 Virtualisierungsfunktionen (VT-x) in der CPU und die Stromsparmechanismen Idle States und Demand Based Switching. 64 Bit Befehle werden jedoch nicht unterstützt.

Die Performance des Z550 ist relativ gering und reicht nur für anspruchslose Aufgaben wie Websurfen, Email oder Office Aufgaben. Ohne Unterstützung der Grafikkarte, überfordern den Atom Z550 z.B. bereits HD Videos oder mehrere parallel laufende Anwendungen. Die Performance pro Megahertz ist im Vergleich zu anderen Single Core Prozessoren (Celeron M, Core 2 Solo) sehr gering, da der Atom auf eine in-order Ausführung setzt (er sortiert die Befehle nicht automatisch für die bessere Auslastung). Dieser Nachteil wird aber teilweise durch das integrierte Hyper-Threading wieder vermindert (die CPU gibt sich hierbei als 2 Kern CPU aus um die Aufgaben besser einteilen zu können).

Der Intel Atom Z510 ist ein stromsparender und sehr langsam getakteter Prozessor für MIDs und sehr kleine Netbooks. Die Performance der CPU reicht jedoch nur für sehr einfache Aufgaben. Im Vergleich zum Z500 fehlt dem Z510 Hyper-Threading und er braucht mit 2W deutlich mehr Strom (vs 0.65W TDP). 64 Bit Befehle werden von beiden nicht unterstützt.

In Verbindung mit dem US15W (Poulsbo) Chipsatz brauch die Kombination knapp unter 4.3 Watt (2 + 2.3 W).
