Priced at around £550, the 13.3-inch Pavilion dm3-1020ea is HP's latest affordable ultra-portable laptop. The company has decided to use AMD's Athlon Neo X2 L335 processor instead of one of Intel's ultra-low-voltage chips, so we were interested to see how the machine would perform both in terms of speed and battery life. Despite its relatively low price tag, the HP Pavilion dm3-1020ea still manages to effortlessly combine slick looks and great performance with impressive battery life. As a result, it's easy to recommend to those after a stylish ultra-portable laptop.

An impressively portable laptop with a stylish design and stunning 13.3" screen. Despite some very minor flaws, the Pavilion dm3-1020EA is nevertheless a stunningly designed, highly usable and eminently portable machine. While its lack of an integrated ODD is unfortunate, this is still a great mobile device and one that is very easy to recommend.

Were it not for the somewhat sluggish network connectivity, we'd probably award the Pavilion dm3-1020ea a 9/10. All the same, it still gets a Recommended Award thanks to outstanding design, decent performance and a keyboard whose quality belies the affordable asking price. Anyone in need of a flexible, portable laptop will find the dm3 an excellent servant.

ATI Radeon HD 3200:

Onboard Grafikchip (RS780M Chipsatz) von AMD mit Avivo HD Technologie zur Entlastung der CPU bei HD Videos. Der Kern basiert auf eine HD 2400. Achtung, unter XP soll es keine 2D Beschleunigung aufgrund eines Treiberfehlers geben.

Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen.  Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.
