Das T91 MT von Asus hinterlässt insgesamt einen sehr zwiespältigen Eindruck. Auf der einen Seite punkten die praktische sowie zuverlässige Convertible-Funktion, die relativ präzise Multitouch-Bedienung und die gute Schriftenerkennung, die für ein sehr entspanntes Arbeiten sorgen. Das schicke Design, die kompakten Maße, das geringe Gewicht und die intuitive Software bewerkstelligen ihr übriges, damit man sich nach kürzester Zeit wohl fühlt. Weitere Pluspunkte konnte das T91 MT mit seiner sehr ordentlichen Akkulaufzeit, der kühlen Oberflächen und der jederzeit leisen Geräuschkulisse sammeln.

Die Touch-Bedienung gelingt bei den Netbooks von Asus, Gigabyte und Wortmann ordentlich - bei den beiden erstgenannten sowohl per Stift als auch per Finger, bei Letzterem nur per Stift. Dafür hängt das Wortmann Edu III das restliche Testfeld beim Zeichnen, Freistellen und Schreiben weit ab, weil es die passende Software dafür mitliefert, präzise ist und zwischen Stift und Handballen unterscheiden kann.

ASUS‘ Erweiterung für seine Eee-Familie ist konsequent umgesetzt und kann mit einem hohen Bedienkomfort punkten. Noch dazu erweist sich der extrem leichte Winzling mit drehbarem Display natürlich als absoluter Eye-Catcher.
Leider müssen aber einige Einschränkungen in Kauf genommen werden, um die Kombination aus Netbook und Tablet-PC möglich werden zu lassen – unseres Erachtens zu viele Einschränkungen. So greift ASUS auf ein zu kleines Display im 9-Zoll-Format zurück. Ein längeres Arbeiten ist somit leider aufgrund der kleinen Darstellung kaum möglich – erschwerend kommt hier auch noch die kleine Tastatur dazu. Ebenso merkt man dem T91 seinen recht kleinen, fest verbauten Akku an. Eine Laufzeit von über vier Stunden ist zwar alles andere als schlecht, die Konkurrenten zeigen aber, dass hier wesentlich mehr möglich ist.

Die Redaktion geht ernüchtert aus dem Test des Asus Eee PC T91. Die Helligkeit des Panels ist unterirdisch (83 cd/m²) und die Abwärme zu hoch. Die Befürchtungen aus unserem HandsOn des Vorserien-Convertibles konnte Asus nicht revidieren. Schade, denn von der übrigen Handhabung her hat der Eee-PC T91 das Zeug zu einem brauchbaren Tablet bzw. Mini-Notebook.

Vorerst geht die Redaktion ernüchtert aus dem Test des Asus Eee-PCT T91. Die Helligkeit des Panels ist unterirdisch (zirka 100 cd/m²) und das Dreh-Scharnier relativ fragil. Wir sind gespannt auf ein Serienmodell und hoffen selbiges kann die Mankos des Presamples weit hinter sich lassen. Die Asus TouchSuite Oberfläche empfinden wir als ausgereift. Nutzer finden hier alle Funktionen zum Verwalten, Surfen, Bilder Anschauen oder Musik Hören. Leider hakt die Touch Bedienung per Finger ständig an der geringen Leistung des Intel Atom Z520 sowie der langsam schreibenden SSD „Festplatte“.

Granted the Asus Eee PC T91's tiny and easy to carry around, but its touch interface isn't quite perfect. The Asus Eee PC T91 is overpriced in terms of features when compared to other Eee PCs on offer.

We first caught sight of the Asus Eee PC T91 back at CES 2009 in January, and were immediately taken with the idea of combining a small, low-cost Netbook with a touch-screen interface. Seven months later, the final product is here, and it's largely successful for a first attempt at this kind of hybrid. It's a much more flexible way to interact with a Netbook--especially if you're tripped up by the tiny touch pads and keyboards found on most minilaptops. Asus does a good job combining a Netbook and a touch screen in the Eee PC T91, even if the system hits a couple of first-generation snags.

We were impressed with the battery life (nearly five hours, just as claimed), but we didn't appreciate the non-removable nature of the battery. Also, the trackpad was great, but the keys were cramped due to the small chassis. The display looked washed out and was mushy to the touch, but that's what you get in a resistive touch panel. We loved how small and light the machine was, but we lamented the fact that it really wasn't equipped to handle any task more demanding than typing a Word document, sending an email or engaging in the occasional Skype call.

This tablet netbook sets itself apart with an attractive touch interface, but it’s held back by slow performance, a small hard drive, and cramped keyboard. We give credit to ASUS for innovating; the touch features on the ASUS Eee PC T91 definitely break the netbook mold. However, its underpowered processor results in an underwhelming experience; screens take too long to open, and the lack of palm rejection is frustrating. Also, at $499, the Eee PC T91 is $100 more expensive than other netbooks that, while lacking a touchscreen, have larger 10-inch displays, and have batteries that last twice as long. Yes, the T91 is worth a look, but it’s not worth the wait.

The marketing slogan for the Asus Eee PC T91 is "Fun at Your Fingertips," but our time with this netbook/tablet combo turned out to be less than fun for us. Asus based its first netbook tablet on what seems to be a netbook that the company has all but discarded and improved upon many times over. All the quibbles we’ve had with, say, the Eee PC 4G or Eee PC 900, such as the tight resolution, misplaced right Shift key, and slow performance, have reappeared on the T91. The T91 netbook deserves kudos for trying something new with its convertible-tablet design, but its sluggish performance mars the experience.

On the whole we found this new concept in netbooks and interesting one. Seeing as the usual route for a netbooks evolutionary path would be to become much faster, with greater storage or larger screens this is a welcomed diversion in design that we weren’t expecting to see at all. This could now be a very useful addition to the Eee family of computers of theirs that have already proven themselves in sales. What will be interesting to see is if this will be picked up and adopted by the average user, in addition to the educational market they’re already established in.

The first Eee PC to ship with a touchscreen interface - and it's great. Overall, we're impressed with what Asus has done here. Since the introduction of the original Eee PC, manufacturers (Asus included) have desperately tried to tweak netbooks to set themselves apart from the crowd. Larger screens, better hard drives, different operating systems, you name it - it's been tried. The problem is, all these tweaks are too subtle to really register. The Asus Eee PC T91 on the other hand genuinely moves things forward. As long Asus can keep pricing to realistic levels, it deserves to have another winner on its hands.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 500: Integrierter (onboard) Grafikchip auf UL11L, US15L, US15W Chipsatz mit lizensiertem PowerVR SGX Kern. Trotz DirectX 10.1 Unterstützung durch die geringen Taktraten (100-200 MHz je nach UL11L - US15L/W) nicht spielfähig. Integrierter Video Decoder für MPEG-2, VC-1, AVC.

Viele Spiele sind mit diesen Karten nicht (kaum) lauffähig oder laufen nur sehr langsam. Für Spieler nicht geeignet! Office Programme und Internet surfen dürfte jedoch ohne Problem laufen.

Intel Atom: Die Intel Atom Serie besteht aus 64-Bit Mikroprozessoren für günstige und stromsparende Notebooks, MIDs oder UMPC. Besonderheit der Architektur, ist das die Befehle nicht wie derzeit üblich (z. B. Intel Core Architekture oder AMD Turion) "out of Order"  sondern  "in  Order"  ausgeführt  werden. Dadurch verliert man zwar einiges an Performance, jedoch spart dies Transistoren und daher Kosten und dadurch auch etwas Strom.

8.9": Es handelt sich um ein sehr kleines und seltenes Displayformat für Netbooks, UMPC bzw. Subnotebooks. Es gibt nur sehr wenig Netbooks, Subnotebooks und UMPC mit kleineren Displays und auch dieses Format ist ziemlich selten. Der Vorteil der Mini-Notebooks liegt darin, dass das Gerät klein dimensioniert sein kann und daher leicht tragbar ist. Das winzige Display hat noch den Vorteil wenig Strom zu benötigen, was die Akkulaufzeit und damit die Mobilität weiter verbessert. Der Nachteil ist, dass das Lesen von Texten sehr anstrengend für die Augen ist. Hohe Auflösungen sind fast nicht nutzbar.

0.97 kg: Dieses Subnotebook/Netbook/UMPC, sofern man es als solches überhaupt bezeichnen kann, gehört zu den leichtesten Notebooks überhaupt und kann klarerweise hervorragend getragen werden. Es gibt kaum Sub-Notebooks, aber ein paar Netbooks in dieser extremen Gewichtsklasse. 7-9 Zoll Displays passen in diesen Gewichtsbereich.
