Don’t call it a Laptop. Die Precision Serie von Dell spricht in erster Linie professionelle Benutzer mit besonders hohen Anforderungen hinsichtlich Performance an. Das Precision M6500 wird das bestehende M6400 ablösen und wie gewohnt die aktuell leistungsfähigste Hardware für Notebooks bieten. Intel Extreme Core i7-920XM CPU, Nvidia Quadro FX 3800M bzw. ATI FirePro M7740 Grafik und bis zu 16GB! DDR3 1600MHz RAM. Sonst noch Wünsche?

As a workstation class product, we had to look at additional tests to try and determine value. Ultimately, the recommendation is pretty straightforward: you buy a mobile workstation with certification to run the particular software package that you need for a reason. You can try the Dell Precision Workstation Advisor, though I suspect it will likely just confirm that the M6500 is capable of running your particular application.

ATI FirePro M7740: Workstation Grafikkarte basierend auf die Mobility Radeon HD4860 mit bis zu 1 GB GDDR5 Speicher (dies kann den 128 Bit Speicherbus kompensieren) und 640 Shadern. Direkter Konkurrent zur Quadro FX 3700M und in manchen professionellen Benchmarks sogar schneller.
Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

720QM: Der Core i7-720QM war zur Zeit der Einführung der langsamste Core i7-9xx Quad Core Prozessor. Er taktet dank Turbo Modus automatisch zwischen 1.6-2.8 GHz. Außerdem unterstützt er Hyperthreading zur gleichzeitigen Abarbeitung von 8 Threads.
