Nicht weniger als 15 Jahre nach seiner Veröffentlichung ist Aptoide endlich für alle in der Europäischen Union verfügbar. Seit dem 6. Juni 2024 war der iOS-App-Store für Gamer in der Region zunächst für eine begrenzte Anzahl von Testern verfügbar. Um diese App-Store-Alternative nutzen zu können, mussten sich Interessierte auf eine Warteliste setzen lassen und hoffen, schnell genug berücksichtigt zu werden. Jetzt ist diese Phase vorbei, und jeder kann die App ausprobieren.
Laut Paulo Trezentos, dem CEO von Aptoide:
Dieser Launch markiert einen wichtigen Meilenstein in der Spieleverteilung auf iOS und Aptoides Engagement für ein offenes und uneingeschränktes App-Vertriebsökosystem. Was Aptoide auszeichnet, ist die Funktion ‚App-Versionen‘, mit der iOS-Nutzer – wie Android-Nutzer – ältere Versionen von Apps herunterladen können. Weder der Google Play Store noch der Apple App Store bieten diese Funktion für Endnutzer an, was sich jedoch als äußerst praktisch erweist, wenn ein Update fehlschlägt und ein Zurückrollen zur vorherigen Version die beste kurzfristige Lösung ist.
