Vor uns steht ein weiteres Mitglied der Thinkpad Familie, das sich zwar eher am unteren Ende der Palette platziert, dennoch in vielerlei Hinsicht mit typischen Thinkpad-Features punkten kann. Die Optik des L412 lehnt sich teils an die Keilform der (mißglückten?) Thinkpad Z-Serie an, gibt sich aber wesentlich agiler und kompakter. Abgesehen von ein paar kleineren Schwachstellen ist auch die Gehäusestabilität und die Verarbeitung auf Thinkpad-Niveau.

The Lenovo ThinkPad L412's only real drawback appears to be the keyboard, which is so loud that you should really think twice about toting this laptop to conferences and meetings. Other than that annoyance, however, the L412 delivers- it's quick, sturdy, and professional-looking, and even has decent multimedia playback for those long business trips.

In reviewing the ThinkPad L412, we couldn't help feeling that while there wasn't much one could say is wrong with it, neither was there much to make it stand out from the bunch. It's not the most portable 14-inch notebook we've come across, but it isn't the bulkiest, either. And if the L412 isn't the most fully featured notebook we've reviewed, neither is it the least.

An inexpensive alternative to the ThinkPad T series, the L412 has more than enough power for students or workers who are looking for the comfort and reliability of a Lenovo system, but desire something more economical. While we wish its battery life was a bit longer, the L412 has plenty of power for everyday office or classroom tasks, and its security and durability is on a par with more expensive systems. For less than $900, the L412 delivers plenty of value.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) HD Graphics: Intel HD Graphics oder GMA HD genannte onboard Grafikkarte welche im Package der Core i3/i5/i7 Arrandale Dual-Core Prozessoren untergebracht wird. Je nach Prozessormodell maximal mit 500 bis 766 MHz getaktet (Turbo Boost). Von Lenovo anscheinend auch GMA5700MHD genannt. Die gleichgenannte Intel HD Graphics Prozessorgrafik in den Sandy Bridge Prozessoren basiert auf einer neueren Architektur.

Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen.  Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.

330M: Der Core i3-330M ist ein Mittelklasse Dual-Core Prozessor ohne Turbo Boost Modus. Daher läuft die CPU mit max. 2.13 GHz. Durch Hyperthreading werden bis zu 4 Threads gleichzeitig bearbeitet. Im Package ist auch noch eine integrierte Grafikkarte (GMA HD mit 500-667 MHz) und ein Speichercontroller (beide noch 45nm Fertigung).
