Ohne Zweifel ist das ThinkPad T61p in dieser Konfiguration sein Geld wert. Lenovo bündelt im 14-Zoll-Notebook extrem gute Verarbeitung, sehr viel Leistung und eine gute Ausstattung in einem kompakten und leichten Format. Warum Lenovo dann ein verhältnismäßig schwaches Displays verbaut, bleibt uns ein Rätsel. Denn für den sehr hohen Preis kann man weitaus Besseres erwarten.

Lenovo’s ThinkPad T61p is the company’s top-of-the-line desktop replacement notebook. It’s not ultra-portable, nor is it necessarily for mom and dad. This is a hardcore, power-user notebook with extremely high-end specifications, making it a bleeding edge notebook that’s as future proof as notebooks get. We reviewed the T60p back in April of this year, and now that it’s been revamped and up-armored, it’s time to take another look. When we first lifted the T61p out of the box, it felt a bit heavy given its thin dimensions. We’ve handled hundreds, if not thousands, of notebooks in our day, and this one feels very solid, thin, and a bit heavy. The ThinkPad line has always been considered one of the most sturdy, if not the most sturdy, line of notebooks, and it’s not by accident. The T61p feels like it’s made of very solid materials and would last through years of use and abuse.

Den Ruf der T-p Serie, etwas leistungsfähiger und grundsätzlich einfach etwas „besser“ zu sein als die normalen T Geräte, dem wird auch das Lenovo Thinkpad T61p gerecht. Im Grunde genommen weist das Gerät alle Vorzüge des T61 auf, wozu neben dem robusten Magnesiumgehäuse auch die hervorragenden und besonders angenehm zu bedienenden Eingabegeräte zählen.
Einen Schritt nach vorne hat man dann beim Display gemacht. Das WUXGA Display mit einer Auflösung von sage und schreibe 1920x1200 Pixel bietet maximale Übersicht am 15 Zoll Display. Mit einer Auflösung von 147dpi gehört das Panel zu den aktuell am feinsten aufgelösten Displays.
Helligkeit und Ausleuchtung fallen eher durchschnittlich aus, und könnten speziell was den Einsatz im Freien betrifft etwas besser sein. Im Indoorbetrieb geht dies jedoch ok.
Der zweite signifikante Unterschied zur T61 Serie ist natürlich die gebotene Leistung des Gerätes. Die verbaute NVIDIA Geforce Quadro FX 570M zieht im Benchmarktest mit den schnellen Kollegen der Geforce 8600M GT Reihe gleich. Verantwortlich dafür sind unter anderem die verbauten GDDR3 Speicher.

The T61p is light for a power laptop at 6.5 pounds minimum weight. It comes in the signature ThinkPad black and with the signature keyboard our reviewers consistently find so comfortable to use. It has both a Touchpad and an eraserhead as well as convenient hardware buttons for Wi-Fi, volume, and forward-and-back for your browser. It also has a blue ThinkVantage button for quick access to troubleshooting utilities. The T61p is a great business notebook for those who need lots of power and features, and the fact that it's environmentally friendly and efficient (to a degree) helps make the purchase easier to justify.

The T61p is the first widescreen ThinkPad mobile workstation, and the latest high-end offering from Lenovo. It comes with almost every feature a demanding business user could want, and is starting at a very reasonable price point below 1400 for the 14.1” model. This model has also gone under a number of changes from the previous generation, and in this ThinkPad T61p review you will find out how it stacks up.
The ThinkPad T61p comes in two sizes, one being 14.1” and the model being reviewed at 15.4”. The key difference between both these lines, besides screen size, is the memory size of the NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M video card included with the system. You receive a 128MB card in the smaller 14.1” model, and double the memory at 256MB in the 15.4” model. The processor selection is the same, spanning from the Intel T7100 to T7700, memory from 1GB to 4GB, and hard drives from 60GB to 160GB in 5400 or 7200rpm flavors.

Two months after we reviewed the Lenovo ThinkPad T61, the company released the ThinkPad T61p, a mobile workstation that features a faster processor, higher-end discrete graphics, and a sharper-resolution display for business users who want a laptop that can handle data- or graphics-intensive applications. The higher-end components proved capable of heavy lifting on our performance benchmark tests, without negatively affecting battery life. Extra muscle aside, the ThinkPad T61p shares all the features found across the ThinkPad line: a sturdy (if boxy) case, an excellent keyboard, and the helpful ThinkVantage suite of support and configuration tools. The ThinkPad T61p isn't for everyone--in fact, many users' needs can be met with less-expensive systems--but video and graphics professionals and other power users will find what they need within the ThinkPad T61p's slender, portable case.

If the Lenovo ThinkPad T61p were a car, it would be known in street-racer circles as a sleeper: no glossy paint, no chrome trim--just a plain-Jane exterior with enough horsepower to blow the doors off all comers. Add in the ThinkPad line's excellent manageability, top-notch security, and standard three-year warranty, and you have a high-powered workstation for business users who value substance over in-your-face style. And at $2,288 for our tested configuration, it's also reasonably priced. The T61p comes wrapped in the classic (a nicer word for dull) matte-black cloak we've come to expect; while it's not contemporary, at least it's smudge-proof. The 15.4-inch widescreen and extended nine-cell battery hanging off the back (the standard six-cell sits flush) give the machine a large footprint and makes the 6.2-pound unit feel a little tippy in the hand.

NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M: Performance Workstation Grafikchip mit DirectX 10 Unterstützung wahrscheinlich auf 8600M GT basierend.

Wie bei der Leistungsklasse 1 sind auch diese Karten vergleichbar mit den Desktopgrafikkarten mit dem selben Namen. Neueste Spiele sollten mit allen Details flüssig laufen (jedoch nicht in den höchsten Auflösungen und ohne Antialiasing).

Intel Core 2 Duo: Core Duo Nachfolger mit längerer Pipeline und 5-20% Geschwindigkeitszuwachs bei 0.5 - 3 Watt mehr Stromverbrauch.

Der Notebook Core 2 Duo ist baugleich mit den Desktop Core 2 Duo Prozessoren, jedoch werden die Notebook-Prozessoren mit niedrigeren Spannungen und geringerem Frontsidebus Takt betrieben. Von der Leistung bleiben gleichgetaktete Notebooks deswegen (und auch wegen der langsameren Festplatten) 20-25% hinter Desktop PCs.

15.4": 15 Zoll Display-Varianten sind der Standard und werden für mehr als die Hälfte aller Notebooks verwendet. 15.4 Zoll Displays mit 16:10 sind bei Notebook-Displays der Standard schlechthin.

Der Grund der Beliebtheit mittelgrosser Displays ist, dass diese Größe einigermaßen augenschonend ist und dennoch nicht allzu viel Strom verbraucht und die Geräte noch halbwegs kompakt sein können.

2.8 kg: Dieses Gewicht ist für Notebooks durchschnittlich. Daher passt vor allem die breite Masse der Laptops mit 15 Zoll Display in diese Gewichtsklasse.

Lenovo: Lenovo ist seit dem Ankauf der IBM-Notebook-Sparte einer der grossen internationalen Hersteller hinsichtlich Marktanteile und getesteter Modelle am deutsch- und englisch-sprachigen Markt. Allerdings gelangen Lenovo-Notebooks selten in Top-Positionen bzgl. Gesamtwertung oder Preis/Leistungs-Bewertung. Auffallend gute Bewertungen gibt es bei den Beurteilungen der qualitativen Verarbeitung.
