Ganz klar, eine der großen Stärken des MSI GT725 ist die satte Leistung. Der Intel Core 2 Duo P9500 Prozessor mit einem Standardtakt von 2,53 GHz sorgt dank der Übertaktungsfunktion für eine Performance, die sonst nur in deutlich teureren Notebooks zu haben ist - 963 PassMark Punkte. So bietet die CPU mit der Standard-Turbo-Einstellungen 16% (2,93 GHz) eine Leistung auf dem Niveau eines Intel Core 2 Duo T9800 Prozessors. Mit 24%iger Übertaktung (3,12 GHz) werden sogar Werte erreicht, die einem X9100 Prozessor eben würdig sind.

MSI GT725 ATI Radeon HD4850

Ich habe das MSI GT725 seit dem 24.02.2009 und schreibe hier einen kleinen Lesertest. Ziel war es einen Laptop zu finden, der meinen Desktop PC leistungsmäßig ersetzen kann, jedoch noch als Laptop durchgeht. Für mich ist das MSI GT725 ein perfektes Arbeits / Multimedia / Spielegerät. Das Verhältnis zwischen Leistung - Gewicht - Lautstärke - und vor allem Preis (1246 Euro) macht das GT725 zu einem perfekten Desktopersatz. Einziger Kritikpunkt war ein Pixelfehler, welcher jetzt bei mir verschwunden ist.

MSI's GT725-074US is a good balance between performance, features and price. This is a system that is geared towards gamers looking for a capable system that doesn't cost much. In most areas it does this job very well because they didn't try to push the system past what most laptop graphics are capable. The system design is dogs by a number of small annoyances that are just too many to not be noticed though.

The MSI GT 725 could replace a desktop PC, especially if you connect your own input devices (which, after playing with the keyboard, I highly recommend). Its 2-hour, 49-minute battery lets it behave as an actual portable system, versus competing laptops that need to leap between outlets. And its gaming benchmarks are strong. But even though its screen is refreshingly free of glare, its slightly muted color and distinct sweet spot disappoint. Overall, the GT 725 is a competent gaming and entertainment laptop. It'll fill other roles when needed, but it seems like itself only when you're shooting 3D aliens or playing movies.

It too packs a turbo button, which can, according to MSI, make its already powerful quad-core CPU up to 20 per cent faster than it would be in a standard laptop. It's also very well-suited to gaming and has Blu-ray playback capability, meaning it could be the ideal desktop replacement. The MSI GT725 is a fast and well-equipped laptop, with a relatively low price tag. It's definitely worth considering if gaming or media playback is a priority, but there's no getting away from the fact its closest rivals, such as the Alienware M17, are more aesthetically pleasing.

MSI's GT725 proves gaming laptops don't have to to be heavy or expensive. The MSI GT725 is a laptop with a ATI Mobility Radeon 4850 inside. How unusual. It seems odd to us that so many manufacturers have stuck with Nvidia's mobile GPUs since this chipset was launched, because this AMD chip really is a remarkable piece of silicon. There's really very little to fault with this machine. It's got the power and the impressive battery life. If you're looking for a laptop for gaming, you've just found it.

This feature-rich gaming rig delivers powerful graphics, Blu-ray, and a quad-core CPU at an attractive price. The MSI GT725 offers very good quad-core performance and gaming muscle for a reasonable price of $1,699. Although you could spend less on the $1,399 Gateway P-7807u and get strong gaming performance, that system lacks the MSI’s higher resolution and Blu-ray playback. We would’ve liked to seen a better designed keyboard and more responsive mouse buttons, but the GT725 is a good value.

If ever there was a notebook that gave mixed feelings, MSI's GT725 is it. On the one hand, its potency in various usage scenarios has us going back for more - perhaps due to the fact that it scores higher in the performance stakes than my own desktop PC. On the other hand, we're anything but dazzled by the system's supposedly gamer-orientated aesthetics. Herein - literally - lies the problem. What's inside the MSI GT725 has us very impressed, the hardware combination is exactly what we'd look for in a high-end notebook. Intel's 2.53GHz processor makes light work of day-to-day tasks, 4GB of RAM is more than ample for most users, and the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4850 is on the cutting edge of notebook graphics. Still, MSI's target market is the gamer that seeks acceptable frame rates on the go. Here's a notebook that scores 9,943 on 3DMark '06, and they generally don't come much quicker than that.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4850: Basiert auf die Desktop 4850 Grafikkarte jedoch mit geringerer Taktung und daher auch etwas langsamer. Mit 800 Unified Shader (160 5D Shader) bietet sie mehr theoretische Rechenleistung als eine 9800M GTX.

High-End Grafikkarten welche auch neueste und anspruchsvolle 3D Spiele in hohen Auflösungen und Detailstufen flüssig wiedergeben können. Durch den hohen Stromverbrauch, werden diese GPUs nur in großen und schweren Notebooks mit geringen Akkulaufzeiten angeboten.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Core Duo Nachfolger mit längerer Pipeline und 5-20% Geschwindigkeitszuwachs bei 0.5 - 3 Watt mehr Stromverbrauch.

Der Notebook Core 2 Duo ist baugleich mit den Desktop Core 2 Duo Prozessoren, jedoch werden die Notebook-Prozessoren mit niedrigeren Spannungen und geringerem Frontsidebus Takt betrieben. Von der Leistung bleiben gleichgetaktete Notebooks deswegen (und auch wegen der langsameren Festplatten) 20-25% hinter Desktop PCs.

17.0": 17 Zoll Displaygrösse ist ein seit 2006 häufig angebotenes Standardformat für Desktop-Replacements. Die DTR-Laptops sind schwerer zu tragen, brauchen mehr Strom, dafür sind Texte leicht lesbar und hohe Auflösungen kein Problem. DTR sind hauptsächlich für stationären Schreibtischeinsatz vorgesehen, wo Gewicht und Energiehunger egal sind.

81.38%: Diese Bewertung muss man eigentlich als durchschnittlich ansehen, denn es gibt etwa ebenso viele Notebooks mit besseren Beurteilungen wie Schlechteren. Die Verbalbeurteilungen klingen aber oft besser als sie wirklich sind, denn richtig gelästert wird über Notebooks eher selten. Obwohl dieser Bereich offiziell meist einem "Befriedigen" entspricht, passt oft eher "mäßiger Durchschnitt".
