The addition of the touchscreen on a lot of ultrabooks has added a bit of weight for something that was a tad unnecessary. With the VivoBook S550, Asus has managed to deploy the add-on without adding to the thickness or weight. Its performance is at par with the HP ENVY 4 ultrabook, and is built very well, with a dedicated graphics chip adding a lot of value to the package.

Getting the full Windows 8 experience—touchscreen and all—doesn’t have to be expensive. The Asus VivoBook S550CA falls short in some performance areas and features, but for many mainstream users, it's still a decent computer for a great price.

The VivoBook’s standout feature is not the Ultrabook label … it’s the touchscreen. Many inexpensive systems offer touch, and prices creep downwards by the month, but this is the first laptop we’ve tested to offer edge-to-edge glass. We’d prefer a higher-quality panel beneath, but most competitors do no better.

Intel HD Graphics 4000: In Ivy Bridge Prozessoren (3. Generation Core) integrierte Grafikkarte in höchster Ausbaustufe. Je nach Prozessor (ULV bis Desktop Quad-Core) unterschiedlich getaktet.

Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.
