We'll close by saying that HP's Pavilion 11 Touchsmart is a fine little laptop if you're looking for something that can handle basic, everyday tasks, or even something that can be used as a media centre or sorts when connected to your TV. It felt a little sluggish sometimes when we used Web-based apps such as Google Docs, but for the most part it was a responsive unit that didn't leave us waiting too long when launching or switching applications.

The logical successor to the Pavilion dm1, the Pavilion TouchSmart 11 is a most attractive buy at its price. The excellent battery life and the responsive 11.6-inch touchscreen add to the compact and very portable design. This is a perfect laptop for someone buying one for the first time, or for someone who cares only about good battery life and doesn't mind a smaller screen.

Its closest rival in price—Dell’s Latitude 3330—costs $100 more, doesn’t have a touchscreen, and carries a smaller hard drive. The Dell is slightly faster and has a larger display, but I think the TouchSmart 11z is a better value in the long run.

Das HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11z-e000 ist ein winziger 11.6-Zoll Laptop, der leicht in Taschen und Budgets passt. Mit 1,5 kg ist er leicht. Trotz seines niedrigen Preises bietet er einen Touchscreen. Während eine 1366 x 768 Pixel Auflösung bei größeren Geräten enttäuschen mag, sieht sie auf einem derart kleinen Bildschirm gut aus. Es handelt sich auch um ein ziemlich gut aussehendes Gerät, das seinen geringen Preis lügen straft. Der Kunststoffkörper sieht wie hochwertiges gebürstetes Aluminium aus und die Konstruktion ist robust, was verwunderlich ist, da es so schlank und leicht ist. Die Akkulaufzeit ist großartig und hält locker einen ganzen Arbeitstag mit mäßiger Last durch.

Leider werden all diese guten Aspekte durch einige Details zunichte gemacht. Die Tastatur leidet ein wenig, da HP die Tasten verkleinert hat und die Tastatur damit eng und unbequem zu bedienen ist. Personen mit großen Fingern oder Händen wird dies besonders bewusst. Der Laptop ist auch langsam - sehr, sehr langsam wegen des 1GHz AMD A4-1250 und einer 5400 U/min HDD. Der Realtek RTL8188EE Wi-Fi-Adapter schafft nur eine Maximum von 150 Mbps via physikalischer Verbindung bzw. 100 Mbps sonst. Insgesamt handelt es sich um eine ausreichend gute Maschine mit einem Preis, der von keinem anderen preisgünstigen Laptop geschlagen werden kann. Das HP eignet sich am besten für Schüler mit kleinen Fingern für leichte Textverarbeitung und Internet-Surfen.

AMD Radeon HD 8180: Integrierte Grafikeinheit der AMD A4-1200 APU ("Temash"). Basiert auf der GCN-Architektur, integriert 128 Shadereinheiten und taktet mit 225 MHz.

Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen.  Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.
