The Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p suffers from being a very good gaming laptop in a crowded category where it is not the very best. Despite this, it's a well-built gaming rig, and it will play even demanding high-end games without so much as a stutter. While the Editors' Choice MSI GX60 1AC-021US remains our top pick due to its longer battery life and affordability, the IdeaPad Y510p is a good machine, and worth looking at if you want gaming prowess combined with Lenovo's reliability.

No question the Y510p SLI I5 gaming laptop makes a lot of sense: top gaming performance for the money, combined with relatively good (though TN-panel) 1080p screen, good looks, comfortable backlit keyboard, very good sound system and 1TB SSHD. The only major issues are the heat and battery performance (on SLI) with the heat being the most important.

Für die gebotene Leistung ist das 15-Zoll Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p fast geschenkt. Es kostet wesentlich weniger als andere Geräte mit gleicher Hardware und ist so die Gaming-Ausstattung der Wahl, wenn man sich zuvor keine leisten konnte. Das einfache schwarze Aluminium-Design ist minimalistisch. Rote Farbakzente auf den Tasten and JBL-Lautsprecher sind einige geschmackvolle Highlights. Der Sound ist laut und deutlich und man kann die Lautsprecher ohne Verzerrungen laut genug aufdrehen, um die Nachbarn zu ärgern. Die ziemlich klobigen 2,9 kg, sind nicht zu schwer für den Rücken, jedoch auch nicht ultra-portabel.

Wie erwartet, ist die Grafikleistung hoch. Der Bildschirm mit 1920 x 1080 Pixel Auflösung bietet knackige, herrliche Farben und Kontrast. Der Bildschirm ist einfach hell mit kräftigen Farben und übertrifft die Konkurrenz. Mit zwei Nvidia GeForce GT 750M GPUs mit 2GB VRAM und einem 2,2 GHz Intel Core i7-4702MQ Quad-Core-Prozessor, schneidet das Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p ziemlich gut bei anspruchsvollen Spielen in mittleren bis niedrigen Settings ab. Bei der gebotenen Leistung ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass die Akkulaufzeit kurz ist. Bei Gaming-Laptops ist dies jedoch üblich. Das Gerät kann auch anders konfiguriert werden, um einem bestimmten Preisbereich zu entsprechen. Für Gamer mit kleinem Budget, bietet das Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p den besten Wert für die gebotene Leistung.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M SLI: Zwei GeForce GT 750M im SLI-Verbund. Die GT 750M basiert auf der Kepler-Architektur und wird von TSMC in einem 28-nm-Prozess gefertigt.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
