MSI GP65 Leopard 10SX review – evolution rather than revolution

MSI GP65 Leopard 10Sx’s display has a 144Hz IPS panel (LG LP156WFG-SPB3) with a Full HD resolution, reasonably high maximum brightness, and comfortable viewing angles. Additionally, it covers 94% of sRGB and its backlight doesn’t flicker at all. And thankfully, from the gamer’s perspective, the 144Hz refresh rate is paired with a fast pixel reaction time. What was unexpected, though, was with our Gaming and Web design profile applied, the color accuracy is below 2.0, making it good enough for people, who value the accurate color representation. However, our unit had a reasonable nonuniformity of the luminance in the top right corner of the display, making it inappropriate for Web design.

Lisa Gade reviews the 2020 MSI GP65 Leopard 15.6” gaming laptop with the Intel 10th gen Core i7-10750H 6-core, 45 watt processor and NVIDIA RTX 2070 graphics. It sells for $1499 at Computer Upgrade King, who supplied our review loaner. The Leopard is also available with an RTX 2060 if your budget is lower and in a 17.3” size as the GP75 if you prefer a bigger screen. This gaming PC offers a lot of performance for the money and its fairly light and portable. A 144Hz IPS matte FHD display is standard. It has an ample selection of ports, including 3 USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, DisplayPort, mic/headphone jacks, Ethernet and a full size SD card slot.

MSI ist besonders als Hersteller von Hauptplatinen und Grafikkarten für PCs bekannt, bietet darüber hinaus Computerzubehör, Komplettsysteme, Motherboards, Grafikkarten, Laptops, Desktop-PCs, Monitore und andere Komponenten an. Der Markenname Microstar gehört in Deutschland allerdings der Firma Medion. MSI ist bekannt für seine Gaming-Produkte und hat eine breite Palette von Gaming-Laptops und Desktop-PCs entwickelt. Das Unternehmen ist auch in den Bereichen Workstations, Server und industrielle Automatisierung tätig. MSI hat Niederlassungen in Nordamerika, Europa, Asien und Australien.

Diese Grafikkarten sollten alle modernen Spiele flüssig darstellen können. Anspruchsvolle Spiele müssen jedoch in mittlerer Detailstufe gespielt werden. Ältere und weniger anspruchsvolle Spiele wie die Sims Serie können auch in hohen Detailsstufen flüssig dargestellt werden.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Mobile: High-End Notebook-Grafikkarte basierend auf die Desktop RTX 2070 jedoch bei deutlich reduzierten Taktraten der GPU.

Intel Comet Lake:

i7-10750H: Auf der Comet-Lake-Architektur basierender SoC (System-on-a-Chip) für große Notebooks. Integriert unter anderem sechs CPU-Kerne mit 2,6 - 5 GHz (wahrscheinlich 4,3 GHz bei allen 6 Kernen) und HyperThreading sowie eine Grafikeinheit und wird in 14-Nanometer-Technik gefertigt.
