It’s obvious that the Microsoft Surface Go 4 ain’t perfect. On the one hand, it has a solid premium build and an IR Web camera. The machine is light which is great news for people who are constantly on the go and need a device with Windows OS. On the other hand, one of the main cons of this gadget is its overall performance. The Intel Processor N200 has just four cores, when you add the non-upgradable 8GB of soldered RAM and the slow UFS storage to the mix, things aren’t looking that bright. After a full OS update, only 7GB of free storage remained, which is quite limited. We recommend the 128GB version for casual use and the 256GB model for those intending to use it as a primary PC. The 10.5″ IPS screen (NV105WAM-N31 (BOE088B)) is good. It’s a PWM-free unit with 93% sRGB coverage and 337 nits of max brightness.

The Surface Go 4 hasn’t really moved on from its predecessor. Sure, it has a new processor and a different type of storage, but neither amount to any serious improvements in performance. The lack of any substantial power makes it unworkable as a laptop for almost all creatives and the clunky Windows interface lets down an otherwise great design. Microsoft has gone big on improvements for business users but that does nothing to provide a device that will bring joy to most of the creative world.

All in all, the Surface Go 4 looks to be something of a mixed bag. It certainly sounds as though Microsoft has taken feedback on board regarding the lacklustre performance of the Surface Go 3 and made real attempts to offer a nippier experience this time around. Until we see pricing, however, it’s impossible to know whether or not these changes will represent good value for money. We’ll be putting the Surface Go 4 through the gauntlet of our review process soon enough, though, so be sure check back in with Expert Reviews to see if this could be the right laptop for your workplace.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
