The Ziaomi Redmi Pad SE is definitely worth a look if you are looking for an Android tablet that is under that crucial $300 price point. It's a bit difficult to believe that at this price, you can get a solidly built tablet with an aluminum enclosure, a high refresh display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, up to 8GB RAM, and expandable storage, all alongside at least two OS updates. While that all looks good on paper — err, on-screen — it also works well in practice. I really enjoyed my time with this device and would have no problem recommending it to anyone who wants a midsized tablet for casual use. The Xiaomi Redmi Pad SE had no issues running apps side by side, streaming movies, or playing games. Sure, there's still space for improvement — I wish it had some kind of fingerprint scanner and that the speakers had a broader sound stage — but for $240, this tablet is a winner.

The Redmi Pad SE is currently going for just €150, a fairly good deal in our books. We liked the display, the build, the battery life and the speakers. The UI is highly customizable, albeit too heavy for the Snapdragon 680 SoC in some cases. However, consider some of the most prominent drawbacks we found. The most annoying thing is the lack of an ambient light sensor - you can't rely on the automatic brightness mode. And secondly, the charging could be faster. Sure, an argument can be made that this device will probably stay at home most of the time so it would never be far from an outlet. Still, this is one of the slowest charging tablets we've tested. If you are willing to spend just a tad more, then maybe you should consider the Xiaomi Pad 6, which has a better screen with an ambient light sensor, offers a more powerful chip and runs on the same software. Alternatively, the older Redmi Pad, the Oppo Pad Air and the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ may be up your alley depending on your software preferences, but the overall experience and hardware are similar.

Das neueste Mitglied der Xiaomi-Familie ist kein anderes als das Xiaomi Redmi Pad SE. Was das Design und die Verarbeitung angeht, ist dieses Modell mit seinem Aluminium-Unibody-Gehäuse sehr robust gebaut. Außerdem ist es mit Abmessungen von 255,5 x 167 x 7,4 mm und einem Gewicht von 478 g viel leichter als das Xiaomi Pad 6, das 490 g wog. Auf den ersten Blick sieht die Verarbeitungsqualität nicht schlechter aus als die des Google Pixel Tablet oder des Samsung Galaxy Tab S8. Während das Xiaomi Pad 6 Flaggschiff keinen Fingerabdrucksensor bot, ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass man auch bei diesem Budget-Modell keinen findet. Das einzige hardwarebezogene Sicherheitsmerkmal zur Entsperrung ist daher der KI-Scan des Gesichts über die Frontkamera. Abgesehen davon ist es erwähnenswert, dass die Tasten in typischer Xiaomi-Manier angeordnet sind, einschließlich der Power- und Standby-Tasten, die sich oben auf der linken Seite befinden, und der Lautstärkewippe, die sich auf der oberen linken Seite befindet.

 Was das Display angeht, so ist das Gerät mit einem 11-Zoll-Display ausgestattet, das ein IPS-LCD-Panel mit einer Auflösung von 1.920 x 1.200 px bei 207 ppi ist. Obwohl die maximale Bildwiederholfrequenz nur bei 90 Hz liegt, ist es definitiv ein guter Kompromiss zwischen Energieeffizienz, visueller Leichtigkeit und Benutzerfreundlichkeit. Das Display bietet eine maximale Helligkeit von 400 nits, was in der Welt der Tablets kein schlechter Wert ist, aber das Arbeiten unter direktem Sonnenlicht unmöglich macht. Trotzdem macht der Bildschirm unter typischen Bedingungen einen guten Eindruck, da er lebendige Farben, einen guten Kontrast und einen knackigen Schwarzwert bietet. Was die Leistung angeht, so ist das Redmi Pad SE mit einem Snapdragon 680 ausgestattet, der im 6-nm-Verfahren hergestellt wird, gepaart mit entweder 4, 6 oder 8 GB LPDDR4X RAM. Der interne eMMC 5.1-Speicher ist auf 128 GB begrenzt und kann nur über eine microSD-Karte um bis zu 1 TB erweitert werden. Während es insgesamt für eine flüssige Leistung sorgt, ist die Grafikleistung recht langsam.

 Was die Kamera betrifft, so ist dieses Modell mit insgesamt zwei Kameras ausgestattet. Auf der Vorderseite befindet sich eine 5-MP-Kamera, die an der Längsseite in den Rahmen integriert wurde, um allgemeine Videochats zu ermöglichen, und eine 8-MP-Hauptkamera, die uns optisch ein größeres Objektiv suggeriert, als es in Wirklichkeit der Fall ist. Beide bieten eine akzeptable Foto- und Videoqualität für ein Einsteigermodell. Was den Akku angeht, so ist dieser mit 8.000 mAh deutlich kleiner als der 8.840 mAh Akku des Xiaomi Pad 6, der nicht einmal lange durchhalten konnte. Im Gegensatz dazu bieten Konkurrenten wie das Google Pixel Tablet einen 7.020-mAh-Akku, der eine ganze Nummer kleiner ist. Kurz gesagt, es ist ein großartiges Tablet, das es zu entdecken gilt, je nach Bedarf und Vorliebe des Nutzers.
