If you can do without the dual solid state drives and Blu-ray drive, you can pick up the VAIO TT for a far more reasonable $2,094, although you’ll have to settle for a slower 1.2-GHz processor and 2GB of RAM. If you’re shrugging off the recession, and you want to be able to brag that you own an ultraportable with Blu-ray capabilities and one of the largest SSD capacities available, the Sony VAIO VGN-TT198UBX will satisfy. It offers butter-smooth performance and lots of endurance. In general, though, we prefer the Sony VAIO Z series, because it’s only about half a pound heavier while offering discrete graphics and a larger screen and keyboard.

The VAIO TT really does offer road warriors that perfect mixture of performance, battery and portability. As well as the Bluetooth and WiFi draft-n, Sony offer a Sprint EV-DO Rev.A WWAN option (for a $59.99 monthly fee); work while you travel and then, when you’re at the hotel, plug the TT in to the TV and watch a movie rather than paying for the usual lousy selection. Vista is a chore but, courtesy of the SSDs, it’s at least manageable. What might be less so is the price. Most people would call the entry level TT expensive; the superlative-spec VGN-TT190UBX topples that over into astronomical.

  ich habe mir vor kurzem ein Sony Vaio TT11VN 11" Subnotebook gekauft. Zum einen da ich etwas wirklich kleines haben wollte, zum anderen und um nachprüfen zu können ob die vielen negativen Berichte über die TT Seie der Wahrheit entsprechen. Meiner Meinung nach nein! Es handelt sich um ein wohl strukturiertes Gerät, welches seinen Platz neben der Z Serie verdient hat. Sicher ist sie weniger spektakulär und von den reinen technischen Daten her wenig interessant im Vergleich zu dieser. Und trotzdem, obwohl der ein oder andere sagen mag, die 200 Gramm weniger Gewicht etc. machen keinen Unterschied, ist das Gerät deutlich mobiler. Allein die kleineren Außenabmessungen sorgen dafür. Das Teil passt wirklich in fast jede Handtasche und im Gegensatz zur P Serie noch alles an Bord was man sich wünschen kann. Schlussendlich kann ich nur sagen: tolles Gerät mit kleineren Macken die bei dem Preis vielleicht nicht angebracht sind, mit denen ich aber gut leben kann.

Sony is well known for its premium product ranges and the TT series of Vaio notebooks, unveiled in October, is certainly an indication that it puts quality over price. While our recent review of the Dell Inspiron Mini 12 highlighted the case of a netbook that wanted to be a notebook, the TT series takes the opposite approach, cramming a fully featured notebook into a form factor the same size as most of today's netbooks. The chassis measures just 200mm x 279mm and is 23.5mm deep at its thinnest point. The Sony Vaio TT is small, light and portable while still packing enough power for almost all of today's applications. However, the price tag could prove offputting to many buyers.

Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: Im GM45, GS45 und GE45 Chipsatz (Montevina Plattform) integrierte shared Memory Grafikkarte von Intel. Durch höhere Taktung und mehr Shader ist sie deutlich schneller als die X3100, jedoch immer noch nicht für Spieler empfehlenswert. Kann HD-Videos (AVC/VC2/MPEG2) dekodieren und so die CPU entlasten.

Der Notebook Core 2 Duo ist baugleich mit den Desktop Core 2 Duo Prozessoren, jedoch werden die Notebook-Prozessoren mit niedrigeren Spannungen und geringerem Frontsidebus Takt betrieben. Von der Leistung bleiben gleichgetaktete Notebooks deswegen (und auch wegen der langsameren Festplatten) 20-25% hinter Desktop PCs.

SU9400:

SU9300: Langsam getakteter Core 2 Duo ULV Prozessor für kleine und leichte Notebooks. Bietet Virtualisierungs und Trusted Execution Unterstützung.

11.1: Es handelt sich um ein relativ kleines Displayformat für Subnotebooks, das auch nicht sehr oft verwendet wird. Netbooks dagegen haben noch kleinere Displays. Der Vorteil von Subnotebooks liegt darin, dass das ganze Notebook klein dimensioniert sein kann und daher leicht tragbar ist. Der kleine Display hat noch den Vorteil wenig Strom zu benötigen, was die Akkulaufzeit und damit die Mobilität weiter verbessert. Der Nachteil ist, dass das Lesen von Texten etwas anstrengend für die Augen ist. Hohe Auflösungen sind nur bedingt nutzbar.

Dieses Subnotebook/Netbook gehört zu den leichtesten Notebooks überhaupt und kann hervorragend getragen werden. Es gibt nur wenige Sub-Notebooks/Netbooks, die noch leichter sind. 10 Zoll Displays passen in diesen Gewichtsbereich.

76.35%: Weltbewegend ist diese Bewertung nicht. Obwohl es bei den meisten Websites einem "Befriedigend" entspricht, muss man bedenken, dass es kaum Notebooks gibt, die unter 60% erhalten. Verbalbewertungen in diesem Bereich klingen oft nicht schlecht, sind aber oft verklausulierte Euphemismen. Dieses Notebook wird von den Testern eigentlich als unterdurchschnittlich angesehen, eine Kaufempfehlung kann man nur mit viel Wohlwollen darin sehen.
