The Acer Aspire 7740 is an affordable multimedia notebook with solid performance and a good appearance. While some budget notebooks might only offer resolutions of 1366 x 768, Acer went with a 1600 x 900 resolution for its 17.3-inch screen. System performance was very good for its price, reaching close to 5,000 in both PCMark05 and PCMark Vantage. We were also impressed that the system included a Blu-ray drive, but disappointed when it lacked decoding software

Available from Staples, the Acer Aspire AS7740-5691 ($649.98 list) offers a spacious 17.3-inch HD display, a dual-core CPU, and a few nice entertainment features. However, as is the case with most budget notebooks, there are trade-offs. While the integrated graphics helps keep the price down, the laptop has limited 3D capabilities. The Acer Aspire AS7740-5691 won't bowl you over with record breaking performance or stunning good looks, but it's incredibly low price may get your attention.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) HD Graphics: Intel HD Graphics oder GMA HD genannte onboard Grafikkarte welche im Package der Core i3/i5/i7 Arrandale Dual-Core Prozessoren untergebracht wird. Je nach Prozessormodell maximal mit 500 bis 766 MHz getaktet (Turbo Boost). Von Lenovo anscheinend auch GMA5700MHD genannt. Die gleichgenannte Intel HD Graphics Prozessorgrafik in den Sandy Bridge Prozessoren basiert auf einer neueren Architektur.

Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen.  Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.

330M: Der Core i3-330M ist ein Mittelklasse Dual-Core Prozessor ohne Turbo Boost Modus. Daher läuft die CPU mit max. 2.13 GHz. Durch Hyperthreading werden bis zu 4 Threads gleichzeitig bearbeitet. Im Package ist auch noch eine integrierte Grafikkarte (GMA HD mit 500-667 MHz) und ein Speichercontroller (beide noch 45nm Fertigung).
