Auffälliges Aussehen und mit 279 Euro einen günstigen Preis – viel mehr hat das Acer Aspire One D257 nicht zu bieten. Der schnellere Prozessor ändert nichts am zähen Arbeitstempo, das für Netbooks typisch ist. Und auch mit seiner mittelmäßigen Akkulaufzeit kann das Aspire One D257 im Test nicht punkten.

Acer Aspire One D257 review- a solid 10 inch netbook right now While it can’t be called a perfect device, having some faults and weak points, the number of strong points overwhelms these and make the AOD257 a possible best-seller in our opinion. The netbook packs a strong hardware configuration for a device of its size, features a very original and good-looking design and also comes at a pretty competitive price. On the other hand, we can’t completely overlook the minor problems, as the glossy finish, glossy display or the not-really-ideal keyboard and trackpad. Or, in our case, the glitchy OS, but like I said, for most of you this should not really be a problem, as Acer decided to bundle the D257 with Windows 7 Starter on most markets. In the end, you’ll just have to ask yourself what do you value more: the cheap price tag and sleek looking body, or extra battery life, matte screen and maybe better keyboard. If you’re into the first options, the D257 Aspire One and also the Happy 2 lines can be your ideal picks. Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150: Integrierte (shared memory) Grafikkarte welche im Prozessor Intel Atom N4xx integriert ist. Basiert laut Intel auf einen "optimierten" X3100 Kern, ist jedoch nur minimal schneller als der alte GMA 950. Daher für HD Videos und 3D Spiele nicht geeignet.

3D Spiele sind auf diesen Vertretern nur in Ausnahmen spielbar, grundsätzlich sind die Grafiklösungen hierfür jedoch nicht geeignet. Office Programme und Internet surfen dürfte jedoch ohne Problem möglich sein.

Intel Atom: Die Intel Atom Serie besteht aus 64-Bit Mikroprozessoren für günstige und stromsparende Notebooks, MIDs oder UMPC. Besonderheit der Architektur, ist das die Befehle nicht wie derzeit üblich (z. B. Intel Core Architekture oder AMD Turion) "out of Order"  sondern  "in  Order"  ausgeführt  werden. Dadurch verliert man zwar einiges an Performance, jedoch spart dies Transistoren und daher Kosten und dadurch auch etwas Strom.

N570: Doppelkernprozessor für Netbooks. Durch die Taktung von 1.66 GHz etwas schneller als der N550 Dual-Core aber immer noch hinter CULV Prozessoren.
