That said, Acer does deserve some kudos for raising awareness of the issue and doing something to address it. And, even ignoring the environmental considerations, the Vero is a rather good laptop. I like the looks and, apart from the slightly weak display it does its intended job well. Performance from the Intel Core i7-1195G7 processor is impressive for the price and the speaker system performs very creditably. It can be strongly recommended to anyone seeking a general-purpose 15in laptop and who isn’t oblivious to the impending eco-catastrophe.

EN→DEThat about sums my feelings on this device. As a laptop, it’s too expensive for what it offers. While there’s likely a small group of people who don’t want a GPU but do want the power of the 1195G7, the mediocre battery life isn’t a sacrifice I’d recommend that most people make. Laptops like HP’s Pavilion Aero 13 and Acer’s own Swift 3 deliver better battery life in thinner and lighter chassis at the Vero’s price, and most people won’t notice the performance difference. And as an eco-friendly purchase, the Vero is pursuing a commendable mission that it does not actually achieve. If your priority is having the lowest environmental impact possible (which is certainly a priority everyone should have), buy a power-efficient laptop that you won’t need to replace any time soon. Buy something like the Framework Laptop, which is made entirely of user-upgradeable components. Buy any number of better built laptops from Dell, HP, Lenovo, or Acer itself that are stable and sturdy and will last for years (and aren’t too much more expensive than this Vero unit).

EN→DEIf not for the meager battery life, the Acer Aspire Vero would have earned a stronger recommendation among midrange laptops, particularly for environmentally conscious people with budgets of less than $1,000 to spend on a laptop. It features a roomy if somewhat dim display and a comfortable if somewhat quirky keyboard wrapped up in a youthful, eco-friendly design. It provides sufficient performance for student life outside of gaming, and you won’t find a laptop with decent 3D graphics muscle at this price. We could live with the display being on the dull side and the few oddities about the keyboard, given the price, but the limited battery life is a bigger obstacle to recommending the Aspire Vero for people who need a laptop that they can carry across campus or the office all day, then use for more work at night without worrying about making recharging stops. Compact laptops often feature small, three-cell batteries, but a large, 15.6-inch laptop like Aspire Vero ought to have room to accommodate a bigger battery for a longer runtime.

I’m excited to see how much further Acer is able to take its green initiative with future laptops. Ideally, if more and more devices are produced like this, it could positively impact our planet. Furthermore, it would also be best if brands would opt to make more eco-friendly laptops, especially those with a more beefy configuration. Both i5 and i7 variants will be available in the Philippines around late October, with prices starting at PHP 41,999.

While many of these new devices want to emphasize a sleek new design or powerhouse performance, the new Acer Aspire Vero has a different ethos in mind. Sustainability. The marketing material makes some ambitious claims about the environmentally-friendly way the Acer Aspire Vero was made, and I would assume those choices are costly. When you look at the display, battery life, and touchpad on this budget laptop, that becomes obvious. As much as I’d love to give Acer props, the Acer Aspire Vero ends up cutting too many corners to be worth its price. No. The Aspire Vero is slightly too expensive for its quality and doesn’t make up for it with enough truly sustainable initiatives.

Das neueste Mitglied der Acer-Familie ist das Acer Aspire Vero. Acer behauptet, dass dieses Modell ein umweltfreundliches Notebook ist, da es aus recycelten Materialien hergestellt wird. Die Umweltaussagen von Acer besagen, dass das Gehäuse und die Einfassungen dieses Laptops zu 30 Prozent aus recyceltem Kunststoff (PCR) bestehen, während der Bildschirm zu mehr als 99 Prozent recycelbar ist. Darüber hinaus bestehen die Tastenkappen zu 50 Prozent aus PCR-Kunststoff, und die Verpackung ist zu 100 Prozent recycelbar und kann in einen wiederverwendbaren Laptop-Ständer verwandelt werden. Acer behauptet weiterhin, dass das Vero im Vergleich zu einem herkömmlichen Kunststoffgehäuse der gleichen Größe rund 21 Prozent Kohlendioxid-Emissionen einspart.
Es ist jedoch erwähnenswert, dass dieser Anteil an recyceltem Material unter den Laptopgehäusen nicht besonders einzigartig ist. Die neuen MacBooks von Apple enthalten seit einiger Zeit einen hohen Anteil an recyceltem Material, und die Gehäuse der neuen Pro-Modelle bestehen zu 100 Prozent aus recyceltem Aluminium. Dieser Laptop kann also nicht der einzige sein, der sich mit diesem Anspruch abhebt.
Was das Design betrifft, so hat das Aspire Vero eine erdige Ausstrahlung. Der Deckel und die Handballenablagen haben eine leicht grobe Textur mit einer gesprenkelten grauen Farbe, die an handgeschöpftes Recyclingpapier erinnert. Das Gerät ist spürbar aus Kunststoff und fühlt sich im Vergleich zu höherwertigen Acer-Produkten wie dem Swift 3 ein wenig fadenscheinig an. Außerdem sind die Tastatur und das Display spürbar biegsam. Insgesamt sind die Lautsprecher recht ordentlich mit klaren Stimmen und ordentlicher Lautstärke. Die Bässe und die Percussion sind jedoch schwach. Abgesehen davon unterstützen die Mikrofone die KI-Rauschunterdrückung, was für Videotelefonate sehr hilfreich ist. Aber die nützliche Anschlussauswahl ist definitiv ein Plus für dieses Gerät, denn es gibt einen einzelnen USB-C-Anschluss, zwei USB 3.2 Gen 1-Anschlüsse, einen USB 2.0-Anschluss, einen HDMI 2.0-Anschluss, eine 3,5-mm-Audiobuchse und eine Ethernet-Buchse. Außerdem gibt es einen AC-Adapter und einen Lock-Slot.
Es ist auch erwähnenswert, dass das 15,6-Zoll-FHD-Display der schwächste Teil des Laptops ist, da es mit maximal 227 nits ziemlich schwach ist und nur 66 Prozent des sRGB-Farbraums abdeckt. Der Prozessor dieses Geräts ist der Intel Core i7-1195G7, gepaart mit 16 GB Arbeitsspeicher und einer 512 GB SSD. Die Leistung des Prozessors ist wohl die stärkste Eigenschaft des Aspire Vero. Was den Akku betrifft, so ist dieses Modell mit einem 48Whr-Akku ausgestattet. Insgesamt ist es ein Laptop mit seinen eigenen Höhen und Tiefen, die es zu berücksichtigen gilt.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

Der Grund der Beliebtheit mittelgrosser Displays ist, dass diese Größe einigermaßen augenschonend ist, hohe Auflösungen oftmals erlaubt und damit Detailreichtum am Bildschirm bietet und dennoch nicht allzu viel Strom verbraucht und die Geräte noch halbwegs kompakt sein können - also schlicht der Standard-Kompromiss.
