I'm into the overall port selection, too. There's a full width venting system on the back of the device to help achieve the machine's cooling, which leaves either side free for the port connections. That means USB Type-C and Type-A ports on both sides, though there's only a 40 Gbps Type-C connection with PD on the left hand side. That's where the diminutive power socket, HDMI, and 3.5 mm audio jacks are, too, while on the right hand side you also get an SD card slot alongside the two 10 Gbps USB Type-A and Type-C ports. For me, there really aren't a ton of gaming laptops that feel this well put together. That feel like they can fit into your whole life and not just that part of you which loves to slap down bugs in Helldivers 2, commune with Illithids in Baldur's Gate 3, or manage the vagaries of fate and young millionaires in Football Manager.

This gaming laptop is ideal for those who want to be able to take their laptop around with them and use it for more than just gaming. Its subtle design and form factor make it very portable, and its RTX 5060 GPU has surprisingly strong gaming chops, especially with frame gen enabled. You can probably get a little better performance for cheaper, but probably not in such a great form factor and premium chassis.

Gripes aside, I can’t deny this is a fundamentally great gaming laptop with iterative upgrades across the board. It still sort of is my favorite gaming laptop, but it’s just the price that’s wrong for what you get, and that’s a heartbreaker. I know that companies have been upping prices in anticipation of tariff impact, but I can’t say for sure whether that’s happened here. And at the end of the day, none of that matters — what actually matters in gaming laptops is that you’re getting bang for your buck. And at this cost, you’re getting something equivalent to Mentos in Coca-Cola rather than a stick of dynamite. Still a decent bang, but not enough for the buck Asus is asking for.

The Asus TUF A14 is a unicorn of a laptop. It’s surprisingly powerful for such a compact laptop. It has great battery life, which is unusual in any gaming portable. Finally, it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, which is not something I expected given its broad spread of talents. In fact, I’d go as far as to say that the TUF A14 is one of the most wholly rounded laptops I’ve encountered recently. I could happily live with it as a day-to-day laptop for use in the office and when travelling, but once home, I could plug it in and play DOOM: The Dark Ages with all the lighting and detail effects turned up to 11 at over 100fps. What’s not to like about that?

Ryzen AI 9 HX 370: Der Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 ist ein schneller Strix Point prozessor für Notebooks welcher in 2024 vorgestellt wurde. Er integriert 12 CPU Kerne, 4 basierend auf die neue Zen 5 Architktur und 8 kleinere Zen 5c basierende Kerne (mit weniger Cache). Weiters integriert der Chip eine schnelle 50 TOPS XDNA 2 Neural Engine für AI Beschleunigung und eine schnelle 16 CU RDNA 3+ GPU.

Ryzen AI 7 350: Eine relativ leistungsstarke Krackan Point Familie Prozessor, die Anfang 2025 vorgestellt wurde. Die APU integriert 8 CPU-Kernen (4 Zen 5-Kerne mit bis zu 5 GHz und 4 Zen 5c-Kerne mit bis zu 3,5 GHz).

AMD Hawk Point (Zen 4/4c): Refresh of the Phoenix series with higher clocks on the AI engine. Includes Ryzen 8000 and Ryzen 200 parts.

R7 260: High-End-Mobil-8-Kern Prozessor mit 16 Threads. Taktet mit maximal 5,1 GHz auf einem Kern und kann dadurch in Single- und auch Multi-Thread-Anwendungen überzeugen. Nutzt die Zen 4 Architektur und hat einen konfigurierbaren TDP von 35-54 Watt. Technisch identisch zum Ryzen 7 8845HS.
