Delivering all of the above in a sleek 15.6in chassis is enough for the GX502 to be a worthwhile competitor, but a few niggles prevent the laptop from moving to the front of the pack. Fan noise is a primary concern, battery life is disappointing, and the absence of a built-in webcam is a strange one.

So, would we recommend this laptop to you, guys? Well, the answer to that question is not the easiest. With that said, we would probably play the safe game and tell you to just go for something bulkier. However, it totally depends on what you intend to do on your laptop PC. From our gaming tests, we could say that you can surely play most of the latest AAA titles at around 45-70 fps on Ultra at 1920 x 1080p resolution. And this was with the RTX 2070 graphics card onboard. However, we had the feeling that this GPU was underperforming in this laptop.

ASUS appears to be clearly marketing this specific model of the Zephyrus S for the hardcore professional. It does, however, strike a very strong balance between the working professional and the gaming enthusiast. There is very little argument that this laptop doesn’t hold significant advantages in many areas of both work and play and frankly, would be ideal for someone who wants a reliable working companion who is capable of fun when you clock off for the day! Admittedly, I would’ve preferred to see some better temperature levels as noise is perhaps the only key detracting factor from this laptop. For general usage, however, this will never be an issue.

The Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX502 is a portable powerhouse, boasting great gaming chops and incredible overall for non-gaming applications. In both style and performance, the GX502 straddles the gaming and productivity worlds nicely, while not necessarily excelling in either sphere. Gaming laptops with 20 Series graphics cards we’ve seen haven’t quite lived up to the hype so far, but the GX502 is the first one to deliver.
