If you need a new workstation with modern hardware and a nice display, the Lenovo ThinkPad P16v Gen 2 is easy to recommend despite not being perfect. The Core Ultra 7 155H can maintain respectively high clocks even in longer loads – 2.52 GHz / 2.65 GHz / 1.85 GHz for the P, E, and LP E cores respectively. The only downside here is the whooping-high CPU temperature of 101°C. Of course, in idle or under normal stress, the CPU thermals are lower. However, you can use the “Balanced” preset that still offers pretty high frequencies and sub-90°C chip temperatures alongside tamed fans. The keyboard doesn’t feel scorching hot even when the CPU is pounded with heavy stress and in this scenario, the fans aren’t too noisy. The port selection is modern – two Thunderbolt 4s plus HDMI 2.1 and an SD Express 7.0 card reader.
