Nicht nur bei den ultra-portablen Notebooks gibt es Luxus-Schätzchen: Samsung beweist mit dem Z700Z5A, dass sich edle Laptops auch in der 15,6-Zoll-Klasse bauen lassen. Design und Verarbeitung rechtfertigen ebenso wie die Ausstattung den hohen Preis. Einzig die Bildqualität liegt nicht ganz auf Top-Niveau.

The Samsung Series 7 Chronos is a lovely laptop. The high-resolution screen, good keyboard and stylish design, lifting it above the run of the mill. It’ll suit MacBook Pro fans looking for a Windows alternative, and Windows fans after a stylish, capable machine. It really is a shame you can’t get to the battery.

At £1,100 the Series 7 is an expensive laptop that is not portable or powerful enough. It didn't perform as well as the Novatech nSpire 2760, which is faster and cheaper at around £800, although that laptop is even heavier, has a lower resolution screen and a smaller hard disk. While on the whole this is a well-built and fast laptop, it doesn't quite justify the price.

The Samsung Series 7 Chronos is a great notebook that offers a lot of the kinds of thing I tend to harp on about, such as a big screen, a full keyboard, USB 3.0 ports and a multi-touch trackpad. With so many competitively priced notebooks around, you might baulk at paying close to a grand for a product that is not particularly thin or light, but it looks well designed, is well thought-out and well built. It is also extremely comfortable to use – and surely this is the critical buying factor for a general-purpose notebook.

With the Series 7 Chronos, Samsung has turned its talents to making a commoditised version of the Apple MacBook Pro. It has much of the same technology inside, and borrows heavily in certain design cues, but using cheaper materials to allow a lower price. Where the entry-level 15in MacBook Pro costs a handsome £1549, the Samsung can be had for £900. The screen is in some ways better (unless you specifically order an anti-glare for the Mac, at an extra £120) although build quality and ease of use trail some way behind the MacBook.

Samsung's Series 7 Chronos is a good, but not great laptop. It's got lengthy battery life and provides quite the hardware punch for a reasonable, if not bargain price. It's graced with restrained good looks, and has a lot of the features we love in a laptop, but its build quality lags behind (relatively) similarly specced offerings from Dell and Apple.

Samsung’s sleek, metal-clad 15.6in Chronos laptop is the most impressive MacBook Pro rival we’ve yet seen, offering a lighter machine with better specs for nearly half the price, even if it’s not quite as attractive or well-built. A quad-core Core i7 CPU, innovative SSD and HDD hybrid storage, discrete gaming-capable graphics and a matt, high resolution screen are but some of the highlights of this portable powerhouse. And with good ergonomics and battery life thrown in, we have no hesitation in giving it our wholehearted recommendation.

AMD Radeon HD 6750M: Dem Codenamen zu urteilen eine 6650M mit GDDR5 Speicher und dadurch ebenfalls mit von UVD3 und Eyefinity+.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
