Lenovo’s G570-4334 is smart, functional and has a decent turn of speed, though we had concerns about the screen – not only is it shinier than a soldier’s boot, the row of dead pixels that appeared soon after its first use was quite disconcerting. Nonetheless, you could do a lot worse for £500.

Compared to the previous generation benchmark scores are much-improved. The i5 processor and 4GB DDR3 RAM, as well as Intel’s tweaks to its onboard GPU all help the Lenovo G570′s multitasking abilities. Light gaming and movies are within the G570′s capabilities, and in general programs respond promptly and task flow jogs along nicely.

Unfortunately, even with all the fancy upgrades and the i5 processor, our review model just doesn't seem to cut it. There are some nice features, certainly, such as Bluetooth, an HDMI out port, and just over 5 hours of battery life, but performance is sub-par.

Lenovo's 15.6-inch Essential G570 laptop may not be beautiful, but it offers decent performance for a very affordable price, rather like former Liverpool footballer Robbie Fowler. The 15.6-inch Lenovo Essential G570's boring design could instantly send the most wired of coffee addicts to sleep, but this laptop does pack a powerful punch for a very reasonable price.

The Lenovo G570 is priced at Rs. 32,590, excluding taxes. Like most Lenovo laptops, the G570 does well what it’s supposed to do. The laptop lacks a USB 3.0 port, but it more than makes up with its features and performance. Essentials like the track pad quality, screen resolution and build quality are pretty neat, too. Lenovo’s Z570 comes in a similar price range and as far as personal choice is concerned, has better looks with its all-metal finish. The specs are almost similar, unless you opt for a different version in the series. For that price, the Lenovo G570 is definitely a good buy.
