Apple iPhone 8

Das neue iPhone 8 verfügt über einen gänzlich neuen A11 Bionic Prozessor, der erstmals von Apple von Grund auf entworfen wurde anstatt bereits existierende ARM SoC Designs zu nutzen. Bis jetzt handelt es sich um den bei weiten leistungsstärksten mobilen SoC, der sogar seinen nächsten Konkurrenten, Qualcommm, und seine Snapdragon-Designs übertrifft. Außerdem ist das iPhone 8 mit 2 GB RAM und einer Speicherkapazität von 64 bis zu 256 GB ausgestattet. Betrachtet man das Gehäuse, entdeckt man nicht wirklich Neues. Apple hat das nahezu völlig raffinierte Design des iPhone 6 weiter verwendet. Das soll nicht heißen, es wäre schlecht. Jedenfalls leidet es nicht unter den Verwindungsproblemen, die beim iPhone 6 auftraten. Verglichen mit den 6, 6s und sogar dem 7 handelt es sich um das bislang verwindungsresistenteste iPhone. Gewiss handelt es sich um ein bewährtes, weiterhin unantastbar elegantes Design. Außerdem können User zwischen drei Farben, nämlich silber, gold, und grau wählen. Bei den Schnittstellen lässt das iPhone 8 weiterhin unnachgiebig die Kopfhörerbuchse weg. Daher muss jeglicher Sound über den Lightning-Port geleitet werden. Diesmal nutzt das iPhone 8 einen true-tone-basierten Retina-Display mit IPS-Technologie, der schärfer, heller und lebendiger aussieht als jemals zuvor. Man beachte, dass der Bildschirm des iPhone 8 nur mit 1.334 x 750 Pixeln auflöst. Es mag so wirken, als wäre dies keine gute Auflösung, weil es sich nicht um Full-HD handelt, doch rückblickend ist der Bildchirm wegen seiner Pixeldichte tatsächlich besser als die meisten aktuell man Markt verfügbaren Konkurrenten. Die Kamera an der Rückseite löst in 12 MP auf, jene auf der Vorderseite ist ein 7-MP-Modell. Im Allgemeinen macht nicht nur die Pixelzahl eine Kamera zu einem guten Modell, sondern auch Software und inkludierte Merkmale. Apple schnitt diesbezüglich schon immer hervorragend ab und lieferte unter guten sowie schlechten Lichtbedingungen schön und knackig aussehende Bilder ohne Detailverlust. Man beachte, dass HDR nun ständig aktiviert ist, was Bilder viel realistischer und natürlicher macht. User können sich darüber freuen, dass 4K-Videos nun mit 60 FPS anstatt 30 FPS, auf welche das iPhone 7 beschränkt war, aufgezeichnet werden können. Darüberhinaus können 1080p-Videos mit bis zu 240 FPS gegenüber von 120 FPS beim iPhone 7 aufgezeichnet werden, womit sich das Phone wirklich deutlich von anderen am Markt verfügbaren Flagship-Modellen absetzt. Obwohl der ganze Schnickschnack das iPhone 8 attraktiv macht, sollte angemerkt sein, dass es Apple oft bei der Akkukapazität mangelt, die mit nur 1.821 mAh weiter geschrumpft ist, anstatt zu steigen. Doch dass sich Apple weigert die Akkukapazität zu erhöhen, wirkt sich nicht nachteilig aus. Wenigstens sind die spezifizierten Zeiten gleichauf mit dem iPhone 7 der letzen Generation. Allerdings unterstützt das iPhone 8 nun Fast-Charging, womit User in unter 30 Minuten auf bis zu 50 % aufladen können. Ein weiteres neues Feature, das Android-Usern nicht neu vorkommen mag, ist die Unterstützung von kabellosen Qi-Charging dank der neuen Glas-Rückseite. Die einzige Beschwerde über Fast-Charging ist, dass User den Vorteil dieses Features nicht ab Werk nutzen können, da Nutzer des bereits teuren iPhone dazu zuerst in ein USB-C-auf-Lightning-Kabel und einen USB-C-Stromadapter, der üblicherweise mit iPads oder Macbooks mitgeliefert wird, investieren müssen. Das ist aber nicht so schlimm, denn Apple erwartet, dass jene die sich ein iPhone 8 kaufen bereits Mac oder iPad-User sind. Trotzdem wäre die Ausgangssituation viel besser, wenn diese mit dem Phone mitgeliefert werden würde. Da das neue iPhone 8 für Apple-Standards nur ein kleines inkrementelles Update ist, ist es für User, die bereits ein 6S oder ein 7 verwenden, nur schwer empfehlbar. Doch User, die noch ein 5 oder sogar ein 4S haben, können es in Betracht ziehen. Ansonsten lohnt es sich nicht etwas Altes durch etwas fast gleiches Neues zu ersetzen. I keep telling people to go for the iPhone 7 instead of the iPhone 8, simply because of the marginal difference in features and significant difference in price, and that verdict unfortunately hasn’t changed much. Granted, the iPhone 8 performs much better with a better processor and camera system, it supports wireless charging and has better battery life than the iPhone 7, but you aren’t missing out on essential features if you already own an iPhone 7. As a matter of fact, the iPhone 8 is made for those looking to upgrade from the iPhone 6 or older, and doesn’t want to pay an extra premium for Animojis and Face ID, it may be dated, but it is still a decent product.

While many people have complained that there are not enough changes in the iPhone 8’s camera as compared to the iPhone 7’s (which is true as the shooting experience and the specs on both the device remains largely the same), we would say that in terms of performance, the iPhone 8 is significantly better. It cannot be denied that the company has not taken a super long jump from where it was with its previous model in spec terms- many expected dual cameras and portrait mode and maybe even dual front cameras – but even then, we would say that this does qualify as one of the best smartphone cameras out there. Yes, it is single lens but is good enough to give those dual lenses a run for their money. And yes, we will be comparing it with the iPhone 8 Plus. Stay tuned.

After spending a week with the 8, I can’t think of a single compelling reason to upgrade from an iPhone 7. The 7 is still extremely fast, offers virtually the same design in a lighter package with a bigger battery, and will get almost every feature of the 8 with iOS 11. If you really want Qi wireless charging, you can get a slim $15 case that supports it. And if you’re dying for Portrait Lighting, there are tons of photo apps in the App Store that offer similar effects. Of course, if you're upgrading from anything older than an iPhone 7, the improvements in the camera and the overall speed of the phone are going to really impress you.

When I first picked up the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, I immediately decided they were actually just the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus. I was wrong: They're definitely much more than that. They're just saddled with a less exciting design. If you subscribe to the maxim that it's what's inside that really counts, the 8 and 8 Plus are big improvements. They pack more storage, great cameras, improved software and absolutely first-rate performance into some highly familiar packages. The iPhone X will continue to suck the air out of the room for the foreseeable future, but one thing has become clear after my week of testing: They might not have the X's style, but the 8 and 8 Plus are truly excellent phones that won't let Apple die-hards and new customers down.

After spending a week with the 8, I can’t think of a single compelling reason to upgrade from an iPhone 7. The 7 is still extremely fast, offers virtually the same design in a lighter package with a bigger battery, and will get almost every feature of the 8 with iOS 11. If you really want Qi wireless charging, you can get a slim $15 case that supports it. And if you’re dying for Portrait Lighting, there are tons of photo apps in the App Store that offer similar effects. Of course, if you're upgrading from anything older than an iPhone 7, the improvements in the camera and the overall speed of the phone are going to really impress you.

When I first picked up the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, I immediately decided they were actually just the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus. I was wrong: They're definitely much more than that. They're just saddled with a less exciting design. If you subscribe to the maxim that it's what's inside that really counts, the 8 and 8 Plus are big improvements. They pack more storage, great cameras, improved software and absolutely first-rate performance into some highly familiar packages. The iPhone X will continue to suck the air out of the room for the foreseeable future, but one thing has become clear after my week of testing: They might not have the X's style, but the 8 and 8 Plus are truly excellent phones that won't let Apple die-hards and new customers down.

Apple iPhone 8 Plus

Das iPhone 8 Plus könnte das Optimum in Apples neuer Phone-Produktlinie sein. Seine Dual-Kamera sorgt für bessere Augmented Reality Erfahrung wie das iPhone 8 und sein größerer Bildschirm bietet ein besseres Rampenlicht für anspruchsvolle Anwendungen, die durch den neuen A11 Prozessor angetrieben werden. Es ist deutlich billiger als das iPhone X. Das Apple iPhone 8 Plus nutzt abgesehen von der Glas-Rückseite das gleiche Design wie der Vorgänger. Dieses Merkmal ist mehr Notwendigkeit als Design, denn die neue Wireless-Charging-Option würde mit einer Rückseite aus Metall nicht funktionieren. Der Rest des Phones sieht und fühlt sich gleich an, obwohl es wegen der Glas-Rückseite etwas schwerer ist. Der Bildschirm ist besser, jedoch nicht radikal anders. Der A11 Bionic Prozessor verfügt über sechs Kerne, zwei davon sind "High-Performance"-, die anderen "Efficiency"-Kerne. Das sind mehr Kerne als beim A10 Vier-Kern- und beim A9 Zwei-Kern-SoC, doch die Sache mit den Kernen ist ein Ablenkungsmanöver. Es ist möglich einen schnellen Prozessor mit wenigen oder mit vielen Kernen herzustellen. Bionics ist die Wissenschaft der Kombination von biologischen und elektronischen Teilen und Methoden und bezieht sich hier auf die neue Neural Engine. Die Neural Engine ist eigener Block des A11, der für Machine-Learning reserviert ist. Beim iPhone 8 Plus macht er noch nicht viel, doch er trägt zur Szenen-Erkennung der Kamera-App bei. Allerdings umfasst iOS 11 eine API namens CoreML, die Third-Party-Developer bei der Integration von Machine-Learning in ihren eigenen Anwendungen unterstützt. Das iPhone 8 Plus verfügt über 3 GB RAM, um Multitasking zu bewältigen. Das 8 Plus verfügt über ein Dual-Kamera-Setup mit zwei 12-MP-Kameras, eine normale mit f/1.8 Blende und ein 2x-Telephoto-Modell mit f/2.8. Außerdem steht eine 7-MP-Frontkamera mit f/2.2-Blende zur Verfügung, bei der es sich um das gleiche Modell wie im iPhone 7 Plus handelt. Zudem gibt es einen neuen Farbfilter, tiefere Pixel und optische Bildstabilisierung für Photos und Videos. Die neuen Kamera-Modi, die diese beiden Kameras nutzten, erfordern zusätzlichen Rechenaufwand. Lange 4K-Aufnahmen scheinen für dieses Phone gar kein Problem zu sein. Das iPhone 8 Plus ist in puncto Geschwindigkeit und Bildqualität der klare Sieger. Für Videos gibt es zwei neue Features. Das Phone kann nun 4K-Videos mit 60 FPS und Zweitlupenaufnahmen in 1080p-Auflösung mit 240 FPS aufzeichnen. Mit 24, 30 und 60 FPS Optionen für 4K-Videos übertrifft das iPhone 8 Plus seine Android-Konkurrenten (und ältere iPhones), indem es Videofilmern einige Viewing-Styles zur Verfügung stellt. Die Akkulaufzeit des iPhone 8 Plus ist gleich wie beim iPhone 7 Plus. In Anbetracht dessen, dass das neue Phone eine Menge neuer Merkmale, einen helleren Bildschirm und eine besser Kamera bietet ist das gut. As I said, the one significant change here is the glass back. And this is needed to ensure the phone can make the best of wireless charging which Apple is ushering in with the iPhone 8 series. While Apple does not have a wireless charger of its own yet, I got to use the Belkin Boost Up wireless charging pad. Yes, it is quite convenient as you just need to place the phone on top for it to start charging — you need to be careful and keep it back in the middle for this to work. However, I found that wirelessly it takes a bit more time to charge that via the regular mode. Also, I am pretty sure you wont be carrying the wireless charger around in your office bag. This is meant to kept in one place: on your office table or chest of drawers and doesn’t really have mobile intentions.

As I said, the one significant change here is the glass back. And this is needed to ensure the phone can make the best of wireless charging which Apple is ushering in with the iPhone 8 series. While Apple does not have a wireless charger of its own yet, I got to use the Belkin Boost Up wireless charging pad. Yes, it is quite convenient as you just need to place the phone on top for it to start charging — you need to be careful and keep it back in the middle for this to work. However, I found that wirelessly it takes a bit more time to charge that via the regular mode. Also, I am pretty sure you wont be carrying the wireless charger around in your office bag. This is meant to kept in one place: on your office table or chest of drawers and doesn’t really have mobile intentions.

The 7 is still extremely fast, offers virtually the same design in a lighter package with a bigger battery, and will get almost every feature of the 8 with iOS 11. If you really want Qi wireless charging, you can get a slim $15 case that supports it. And if you’re dying for Portrait Lighting, there are tons of photo apps in the App Store that offer similar effects. Of course, if you're upgrading from anything older than an iPhone 7, the improvements in the camera and the overall speed of the phone are going to really impress you.

Apple: Apple ist ein US-amerikanisches Unternehmen, das 1976 von Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak und Ronald Wayne gegründet wurde. Das Unternehmen hat seinen Hauptsitz in Cupertino, Kalifornien, ist bekannt für seine innovativen Produkte wie das iPhone, das iPad, den Mac und die Apple Watch und stellt Computer und Unterhaltungselektronik sowie Betriebssysteme und Anwendungssoftware her. Apple ist auch ein führender Anbieter von Software und Dienstleistungen wie dem App Store, iTunes und iCloud.

Apple hat sich einen Ruf als Unternehmen erworben, das sich auf Design und Benutzerfreundlichkeit konzentriert. Zu ihren Notebooks ist zu sagen, dass sie überwiegend im hochpreisigen Segment angesiedelt sind, ein eigenes Betriebssystem aufweisen, jedoch auch Windows auf den neueren Macbooks läuft.

Apple ist eines der wertvollsten Unternehmen der Welt und hat eine treue Fangemeinde von Kunden und Fans. Das Unternehmen hat auch eine starke Präsenz in der Unterhaltungsindustrie, mit Diensten wie Apple Music und Apple TV+. 2023 hatte Apple einen ungefähren Marktanteil von 8% am weltweiten PC-Absatz und war damit auf Rang 4 nach Lenovo, HP und Dell.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

Apple Apple A-Series:

A11 Bionic: System on a Chip (SoC) von Apple, der im iPhone 8 verbaut wird. Basiert auf sechs 64-Bit-fähige ARM-Kernen (2 Performance, 4 Stromsparkerne) und damit zwei mehr als der A10 Fusion im iPhone 7. Im Vergleich zum A10X sind jedoch auch alle 6 Kerne nutzbar. Laut Apple 25% schnellere CPU Performance als der A10 im iPhone 7.
