EN→DEIf you’ve read everything I’ve written up until this point, you’ll realise that the iPhone Air doesn’t actually sacrifice much in its pursuit of thinness. Durability is pretty much a non-issue, and performance is stellar. Battery life is decent, though much will depend on your usage behaviour. Casual users could find it completely acceptable, but heavy users will no doubt need a mid-day charge to get it to last the entire day. Personally, the single camera system is what will keep me from getting the iPhone Air for myself, not because it’s bad – it’s very good – but because I know there will be times when I’ll miss having a second camera. If you are alright with missing out on capturing the odd shot, you’ll be fine with the iPhone Air.But for a phone that starts at S$1,599, is this acceptable?

EN→DEThe iPhone Air is no doubt a statement device. Apple took the thin phone idea and pushed it to extremes the S25 Edge wasn't able to. Whether or not you should buy the iPhone Air depends on a couple of things. First, if thin phones are your cup of tea, then this is a no-brainer. There's no other product on the market that can rival the iPhone Air at the moment, as the S25 Edge, as thin as it is, feels much more like an ordinary phone in the hand, especially next to the Air. Second, you should be prepared to sacrifice two cameras and a loudspeaker in favor of rocking the skinniest phone on the market. If you're okay with those drawbacks, the iPhone Air could be your perfect phone, one that will turn heads for sure.

EN→DEHere the thing: If you're going to buy an iPhone Air, you're going to have to deal with battery issues. While the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is capable of getting through a full day, the iPhone Air cannot — or hasn't been able to do so in our testing, so far. It bears repeating that I have not tested this phone under normal circumstances, but such was the case with my Galaxy S25 Edge Review, too. I will continue working with the iPhone Air and we will update this review if and when we find out. But you're not buying this phone for that. You're buying this phone for how it looks, and it looks fantastic.

EN→DEMost in the Ars Orbiting HQ are in the "I don't see the appeal of this" camp regarding the iPhone Air, and that's a perspective I completely understand. A decade or so ago, during the heyday of the iPhone 6, 6S, and 7, most of us were of the opinion that we would gladly carry around a marginally heavier phone if Apple could just fit a bigger battery in it. But three days of continuous use have helped sell me on the value of the iPhone Air. The iPhone and iPhone Pro have a minor but noticeable heft to them, where the Air is just thin and light enough to feel heftless. It's easy to carry and pocket while still being sturdy enough to handle day-to-day use and abuse. And its battery life, while diminished compared to this year's other iPhones, does not regress all the way back to where it was in the pre-iPhone-X era.

EN→DEThe Apple iPhone Air is a brilliant phone and it will be perfect for some users who have been dreaming for the return of slim and lightweight phones since devices like the iPhone 6. It only has a single camera, so you miss out on ultra-wide or proper zoom capabilities and putting a case on it, despite you feeling like you'll want to protect it, will ruin exactly what it's about. But the design is an absolute delight to use; the battery life is more than respectable; the display is lovely, and the single camera is very capable. For the right person, the iPhone Air is everything it should be.

The iPhone Air is possible the most exciting phone in the iPhone 17 lineup (even though technically, it’s not an iPhone 17). But the iPhone Air is also the most polarizing iPhone, you either love it or hate it! I look forward to doing an in-depth review of the iPhone Air to figure it out!

Personally im a fan of the ultra thin phones. Its cool that Apple is out here trying something new. Even if they do make it invincible. They're trying to put me out of a job - but stronger iPhones are better for everyone!

Today is extra special, were unboxing the brand new iPhone Air, it is not often Apple adds a new model iPhone to the lineup. The iPhone Air looks to be the new premium, luxury iPhone. Today, the same questions dot the discourse around the new iPhone Air. “The base model’s a better deal; the pro models have bigger batteries and sharper cameras.” All true. But after a week using the Air in the real world, only one bugs me enough to push me to go Pro – and it might not be the one you think.

What’s the deal with iPhone Air battery life? Can a smartphone this thin actually last all day? Or at least, most of the day? Mark is here to report the results of the new iPhone Air battery test based on the standard battery test we run on every phone that comes to our lab. These numbers should give you a good idea of what to expect without using the new iPhone battery pack, as well as how the iPhone Air vs. Galaxy S25 Edge stack up in terms of stamina.

EN→DEApple's engineers deserve accolades for cramming so much phone into such a thin design. The iPhone Air is a wonder, but I don't think it's for everyone. You can't ask for a thinner, more impressive piece of hardware, especially one with such a fantastic screen, solid performance, and powerful software. Though I miss the expanded optical zoom range of the iPhone Pro's cameras, the Air still takes excellent photos and videos as long as you don't mind a limited field of view. If you normally prefer to take selfies, the Air should be more than enough phone for you. For $200 less, however, the standard iPhone 17 is a relative bargain thanks to its much longer battery life, more flexible camera arrangement, and faster mmWave 5G support, making it the best iPhone for most people and our Editors' Choice winner.

EN→DEMidway through writing this review, I moved over to do some testing with the 17 Pro Max, and when I came back and picked up the Air, I had chills. The phone weighs so much less; holding something with a screen-to-weight ratio like this feels incredible. I think 6.5 inches is the sweet spot for large-screen devices as well. The Pro Max feels like a behemoth, and even last year’s 16 Plus was pretty hefty in retrospect. Slimming down the Air and shrinking the screen makes it feel like it was designed with hands in mind, not just with the sole purpose of putting a giant screen in your pocket. There’s something about that that’s reminiscent of Apple from the past, and more than anything, this feels like a true successor to the iPhone X from 2017.

The most visible shakeup to Apple's smartphone catalog in 2025 is the iPhone Air. It’s a phone whose whole identity revolves around being skinny – and the compromises it makes to get there aren't as comprehensive as you might think. Right alongside the iPhone Air sits the iPhone 17 Pro (and its larger sibling the iPhone 17 Pro Max). It’s the least-Apple-looking phone I’ve seen in almost a decade, a monster muscle car whose ponderous plateau projects pure power. If you've ever wondered what an iPhone designed by Xiaomi or Oppo might look like (and let's be real: who hasn't?) ... you have one less question to keep you up at night.

Apple might not admit it (at least not yet), but the iPhone Air is more than just a slimmed-down version of the company's latest handset or a more sophisticated take on its usual Plus model. It's a super sleek preview of its upcoming foldable. Now this might seem like a stretch and there's something to be said about the difference between a traditional OLED display and one that's meant to be bent. However, the arrival of a foldable iPhone has become one of the tech world's worst-kept secrets. Still not convinced? Well, consider how the Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge informed the company's radically thin ZFold 7.

Mark gives your first look at the iPhone Air (not the iPhone 17 Air) from the Apple Event. This ultra-thin smartphone introduces a lot of superlatives to the iPhone lineup, with thinness being the obvious standout. But Apple had to get creative when it comes to iPhone Air battery life, iPhone Air cameras, and other way the iPhone Air compares to the iPhone 17 Pro.
