Apple iPhone Air
Apple iPhone Air

Quelle: Futurezone.at Deutsch

Quelle: Mac Welt Deutsch

Quelle: Der Standard Deutsch

Quelle: Futurezone.at Deutsch

iPhone Air review – It’s not what I expected
Quelle: Finder Englisch EN→DE
In its pursuit of making a premium smartphone super-slim, Apple has done something incredible. While I've been pleasantly blown away by the design, the iPhone Air is a difficult phone to recommend right now.Its super-slender frame is kind of cool, but the novelty wears off after a while. What you're left with is a fairly expensive piece of tech with concessions that many of us won't be able to ignore. This is particularly true for the camera setup and battery life. The low sales figures are proof of this, but I don't think it's a flop despite my current stance. I reckon it's the future of smartphones - the iPhone Air, like any new tech, needs to go through the paces to get better.

80% Two weeks with the iPhone Air: It’s not what you think
Quelle: Hardware Zone Englisch EN→DE
If you’ve read everything I’ve written up until this point, you’ll realise that the iPhone Air doesn’t actually sacrifice much in its pursuit of thinness. Durability is pretty much a non-issue, and performance is stellar. Battery life is decent, though much will depend on your usage behaviour. Casual users could find it completely acceptable, but heavy users will no doubt need a mid-day charge to get it to last the entire day. Personally, the single camera system is what will keep me from getting the iPhone Air for myself, not because it’s bad – it’s very good – but because I know there will be times when I’ll miss having a second camera. If you are alright with missing out on capturing the odd shot, you’ll be fine with the iPhone Air. But for a phone that starts at S$1,599, is this acceptable?

It's clear that the iPhone Air is a kind of "pen test" or public beta test of new layout technologies (perhaps in preparation for the iPhone Fold). Apple iPhone Air Camera test
Quelle: DxOMark Englisch EN→DE
The Apple iPhone Air did well in the DXOMARK Camera tests, but the lack of dedicated tele and ultra-wide camera modules means it cannot claim a spot among the best in our ranking. In camera terms the iPhone Air is essentially a simplified version of the iPhone 17 Pro, with only one camera module instead of the Pro’s three. Performance is very close to the 17 Pro’s primary camera module, producing bright pictures with very good image quality. However, the lack of tele and ultra-wide modules impacts the Air’s photography experience, especially when compared to some direct competitors, such as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, which include an ultra-wide module for added shooting flexibility. That being said, the Air’s single camera module captures nice photos in most shooting conditions, with usually pleasant colors and warm white balance.

Like I said from the very beginning, the iPhone Air is a product that I am absolutely in love with. Would I buy it myself? Absolutely not. Yes indeed, it's the internet's favorite kind of product review. But that's just me. I want the amazing lossless zoom that comes with the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and cinematic mode video capture is one of my favorite iPhone features. With the original iPhone nearly two decades old, there's going to be an entire generation soon that never experienced a time when it was extremely controversial just to have a camera bump on the back of your device. Everything that was good about form factors a decade ago has been sacrificed in order to fit more powerful silicon, better cameras, and bigger batteries into a phone.

In all, photos and videos shot with the iPhone Air match those captured with the iPhone 17, and that’s good news. But it’s really no surprise, considering both handsets have identical main and selfie cameras. 80% Apple iPhone Air review: Design taken seriously, with few compromises
Quelle: Android Police Englisch EN→DE
If a thin, convenient, powerful smartphone that prioritizes ergonomics over outright performance and camera ability appeals, I highly recommend the iPhone Air. You're going to compromise camera ability and battery life the most, but I think the design tells you that before buying, so it shouldn't come as a surprise. Throughout my time with the phone, I’ve repeatedly asked myself if I could personally live with it if I hadn’t purchased the iPhone 17 Pro Max. I’m genuinely very close to saying yes, and it’s only the basic camera that puts me off. I get a lot of enjoyment taking photos, and I’d rather have a more capable camera by my side. But that’s really the only thing.

The iPhone Air display provides a balanced and refined visual experience, offering smooth touch performance and significant gains in readability compared to earlier models. In readability, the iPhone Air makes a notable leap forward. While its reflectance handling isn’t quite as advanced as that of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, it still outperforms most competitors, maintaining strong visibility even in bright outdoor conditions. Its impressive peak brightness ensures comfortable use under sunlight, though in darker environments, the default brightness may feel subdued, requiring manual adjustment for ideal comfort. Color performance is one of the iPhone Air’s strengths.

And after my review duration, I found this trend to be even more absurd than it was a few years ago. However, Apple certainly demonstrated its engineering skills with the iPhone Air. In this teardown video by YouTuber JerryRigEverything, it was fascinating to see how elegantly Apple used the limited space in the case. For instance, the manufacturer used 3D printing processes for titanium in the USB port to make it as robust and thin as possible. You will not notice any of this in everyday life. The iPhone Air is a very special smartphone because it is so beautiful, light, and thin. But it is also the iPhone without a wide-angle camera.

78% Apple iPhone Air review: The least sensible iPhone ever
Quelle: Tech Advisor Englisch EN→DE
Probably not. I really enjoyed using it, but the iPhone Air isn’t a practical phone for most people to buy and use as their primary handset. As gorgeous as the iPhone Air’s ultra-slim design is, too much has been sacrificed to achieve it. The camera system is limited, the speakers are underwhelming, and battery life is worse than any of the iPhone 17 models, despite being better than expected. When you can pay £200/$200 less and get significant improvements in all three of those areas, the iPhone Air becomes hard to justify. It offers a gorgeous display and brilliant performance, but that’s just not enough to make it a useful daily driver for most people.

iPhone Air Review: Strangely Mundane
Quelle: Lowyat.net Englisch EN→DE
Apple iPhone AirThe iPhone Air is, in a sense, the odd middle child. Sandwiched between the base iPhone 17 and the Pro variants, it needs to stand out, or risk being overlooked. And it does stand out. As one of the slimmest slab phones available right now, there is almost nothing quite like it. At the same time, it does seem like Apple went all in on the physical aspect at the cost of features. While its price tag implies that the Air is an upgrade to the regular 17, it’s probably more like a sidegrade – one that has yet to find its niche. In the end, the Air feels a bit like an unfinished experiment. It’s a bit rough around the edges, which is charming in a person, less so in a phone. For now, its unique look makes it an attractive candidate. But once the novelty of a svelte body wears off, you might be left a little wanting.

80% iPhone Air review: Apple’s pursuit of absolute thinness
Quelle: The Guardian Englisch EN→DE
The iPhone Air is a remarkable design seeking a problem to solve. I’m not sure many people have looked at their current smartphone and wished it would be thinner rather than having longer battery life and a better camera. The super-slender frame feels transformative when you first pick it up, but the novelty quickly wears off. As with Samsung’s equally thin Galaxy S25 Edge, the lighter weight is the most meaningful change making it easier to hold and pocket. The Air has a big screen but won’t weigh you down. The battery life is better than expected and should see out most days with some left in the tank when new, which may not be the case after a couple of years of use. Apple sells a smart MagSafe battery to add another 65% capacity to the Air, but slapping it on the back removes the benefit of the thin and light design.

80% Apple iPhone Air review: why I love it – but it might not be the phone for you
Quelle: Stuff TV Englisch EN→DE
So what to make of this phone? While the iPhone Air is a fresh alternative to the Pro, it compromises in some key areas for the extra-slim design. While the meagre battery life can be overcome most of the time (not least with Apple’s own MagSafe battery pack), the lack of extra camera tech cannot be rectified – next to the Pro, I found that a compromise too far. I really miss the ultrawide – much more so than I’d have thought I would – while the 2x telephoto is limited. As such, while the iPhone Air is a fantastically designed device, Apple itself does much better options if you are happy to go for a little more bulk. Roll on iPhone Air 2 – if Apple can add another camera and longer battery life to this phone, then it could be a fantastic third option to the standard phone or going Pro.

The iPhone Air is a head turner, and the first reaction I have seen from people in general who saw this device in the flesh and held it was, "It's so light and thin, it's unreal." Personally, this phone is a great entry in the line-up and should make its own fan following—if Apple decides to stick with it for more than two years. At a starting price of Rs. 119,900, the iPhone Air is in a league of its own, and I don't think it competes with the latest iPhones in any way. As the target audience is entirely different for the Air. To break it down, people who need the latest iPhone but do not have a budget can go for the iPhone 17, which starts at Rs. 82,900, while the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, which start at Rs. 134,900, are for power users who cannot compromise in any department, and of course, budget is not an issue.Who does the iPhone Air appeal to?

This is a phone that’ll divide opinion, and rightly so. Sacrifices have been made to make it, and they fundamentally change what an iPhone is and what it can do. This is not a versatile camera system anymore. For many, the use of a single camera on a £999/$999 device will be an instant turn-off. For that, I say get the iPhone 17 Pro. But, for the right person (and I think that person is me), this iPhone Air is the most enjoyable phone experience I have had in the past decade. It’s an absolute joy to use. It feels new, it feels different to the dull slabs, and it feels like the actual future of the smartphone. Forget foldables, I am all in on thin. What is here is mostly great. The single camera isn’t versatile, but it takes great photos and videos.

The iPhone Air may not have everything going for it, but it stands out where it matters most. The handset is incredibly slim, strikingly light, and beautifully engineered, setting a new benchmark for premium smartphone craftsmanship. But it is not the only slim smartphone out there from a major OEM. Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge, launched at a starting price of Rs 1,09,999, is just 0.2mm thicker and 2 grams heavier than the iPhone Air and offers dual speakers, dual camera setup, a bigger battery, and faster charging speeds. These misses make the iPhone Air less convincing. However, when it comes to everyday usage, you don’t feel the smartphone lacking, except for the audio. Its titanium frame feels remarkably sturdy despite the featherlight build, and the 6.5-inch OLED display delivers true flagship-level quality.

80% Apple iPhone Air review: A new type of iPhone, but haven’t we seen it all before?

Despite its shortcomings, there is nothing fundamentally wrong with iPhone Air. In fact, it gets an awful lot right. In particular, that slender frame does feel lovely in the hand and it’s nice and light in the pocket. The camera you get is great, it feels smooth in operation, I have no complaints about the display and even the battery life isn’t too bad. And yet, as I’ve said before, I’m not convinced. You can save £200 if you opt for the iPhone 17, and get more for your money, with an extra ultrawide camera at the rear. Or you can go for the iPhone 17 Pro for an extra dollop of battery life, more power and a 4x telephoto lens – for a mere £100 extra. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, meanwhile, delivers the thin phone experience for much less money. So, should you buy the iPhone Air? Well, I’m afraid to say I’d struggle to recommend it. If Apple had managed to squeeze in even one more camera at the rear, I’d have been much more positive. As it is, I’d advise choosing either the iPhone 17 or the 17 Pro instead.

The iPhone Air might be the future, but is it the present? After using it for two weeks as my daily driver, it's clear that it can be, as long as you're willing to compromise. The phone's 6.5-inch screen finds a middle ground between big and small phones, the performance is there, and the battery life can get most users through a day. Beyond that, the design is simply stunning. You'll just have to trade cameras, sound quality, and battery capacity to get it.

The Apple iPhone Air is one of those things you have to see yourself in person to be impressed. At 5.64mm thick, the iPhone Air is shockingly slim, and at 165g, ridiculously light. The moment I held one in my hand, I was immediately blown away by the feel of it in my hand. And it doesn't feel fragile like I expected. Instead, it's pretty solid and substantial. And yes, I've tried bending it with a normal amount of force and it's really sturdy (and doesn't bend at all). I really like how the phone feels, to the point where I'm considering to make it my main phone instead of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. There are certain drawbacks, though. There's only one camera, like the iPhone 16e, though for standard shots, it is as good as the cameras on the iPhone 17 and the 17 Pro Max.

That brings me to the key question surrounding the iPhone Air - who is this phone actually for? The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are aimed squarely at content creators now, while the iPhone 17 is the phone for everyone (even more so now that it features a 120Hz screen), and the iPhone Air... well, I'm still not entirely sure. It wouldn't work for someone like me who's a phone enthusiast, because as cool as the iPhone Air looks, I want that extra ultra-wide/telephoto lens, and I care too much about battery life. I don't think my partner would be happy with it either, given how important battery life is to her. Even my mom would probably opt for the cheaper base iPhone 17 to get that extra camera lens, especially given the minimal price difference. To me, the iPhone Air is for the Apple user who wants a flashy smartphone that makes a statement, and that doesn't care about extra camera lenses and battery life. As cool as the iPhone Air is, my guess is that its audience is pretty small.

Apple iPhone Air review: Slimmest iPhone is more than just a design flair
Quelle: Business Standard Englisch EN→DE
The iPhone Air is not built to be everyone’s iPhone and that’s exactly what makes it compelling. It’s a niche device, but one that serves its audience well. If your priorities are design, portability, and comfort, the Air feels like a revelation. At 5.6mm and 165g, it’s a phone that almost disappears in your pocket yet never feels compromised in speed or display quality. For commuters, casual users, or anyone who simply wants a device that’s lighter to hold through long days of typing, scrolling, or streaming, the Air delivers a user experience unlike any other iPhone. But the trade-offs are real, and they make the Air less suited for certain groups. Power users who push their devices with heavy gaming, long video recording sessions, or professional photography will be better served by the iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max.

There’s a lot happening with the iPhone Air, and I genuinely appreciate the level of engineering that went into this device. The durability is not just a marketing claim; it actually delivers in real-world use. It feels solid, refined, and surprisingly comfortable to hold. If there’s one thing that consistently annoyed me throughout the review, it would be the software experience as most of my frustrations came from iOS 26 rather than the hardware itself. While other brands continue to chase the idea of the perfect foldable smartphone, Apple chose a different direction. Instead of folding displays and mechanical hinges, they focused on creating something slimmer, lighter, and sturdier. It’s a refreshing take and a welcome change in an industry that has been recycling the same designs for years.

That is because it is a product that delights the senses. It may lack a functionality or two, but it builds its appeal around aesthetics and taste. And that matters, particularly if you are looking for a phone that can also match your lifestyle. Just like someone who is a hiker and climber would want a rugged phone that they can carry through rocks, mud and jungle, someone with a different lifestyle, the one where aesthetics are important, might want a phone that compliments their life. For them the iPhone Air is perfect. The fact that it does so much even with its limitations and hardware handicaps is a testament to its ingenuity and Apple’s ability to squeeze magic from ordinary-seeming electronic parts. As a reviewer I see the iPhone Air to be what it is. It is a statement of intent, a device that gives a glimpse into the future of the iPhone. As far as buying it is concerned, I recommend it but conditionally.

It’s been difficult to review the iPhone Air over the last two weeks because every time I took it outside, it felt like everyone in New York City wanted to stop me, ask me a ton of questions, and, in almost all cases, hold the new iPhone. Their script went exactly like this: Apple’s ultra-thin iPhone Air has been the most popular smartphone I’ve tested in public since I reviewed the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 1 for TechRadar. For context, we just published our Galaxy Z Fold 7 review, so it’s been a while since I had gawkers (I say that with kindness). It’s the chicest iPhone that Apple has ever created. iPhone Air Review | SMASHED by Ultra-Cheap Skinny Android?
Quelle: Tech Spurt Englisch
While I really love the slim and light design, the iPhone Air is far too niche - for people who want an expensive, good-feeling mobile that they won't actually use much. The camera setup is inflexible and suffers from poor HDR capture, but can generally do the job for simple family snaps. As long as no one is moving too much. The true strength of the iPhone Air's optics is the video capture, which is still one of the best around. Battery life is a serious detriment, however. I rarely managed to make it through a day on a single charge. Slapping a battery pack on the back of the iPhone Air would sadly ruin the look and feel, so this is one for lighter users. And that's a shame, because Apple's skinny sod can actually play games perfectly well.

The iPhone Air is no doubt a statement device. Apple took the thin phone idea and pushed it to extremes the S25 Edge wasn't able to. Whether or not you should buy the iPhone Air depends on a couple of things. First, if thin phones are your cup of tea, then this is a no-brainer. There's no other product on the market that can rival the iPhone Air at the moment, as the S25 Edge, as thin as it is, feels much more like an ordinary phone in the hand, especially next to the Air. Second, you should be prepared to sacrifice two cameras and a loudspeaker in favor of rocking the skinniest phone on the market. If you're okay with those drawbacks, the iPhone Air could be your perfect phone, one that will turn heads for sure.

At 1,19,900, the iPhone Air isn’t the phone everyone should buy, but it might be the phone you secretly want. It doesn’t have the stamina of the Pro Max, the camera versatility of the Pro, or even the charging speeds of some Androids that cost less. What it does have is a sense of wonder. It’s like carrying around a piece of the future before everyone else catches up. Living with the Air means accepting trade-offs. But none of that kills the magic of a phone that feels impossibly thin, light, and still powerful enough for everything most people actually do day to day. If you’re the kind of person who once fell in love with the iPhone 4 just because it felt like an artefact from another world, the iPhone Air is your nostalgia and your future rolled into one razor-thin slab. It’s not the smartest choice, but sometimes, the emotional pull of an object outweighs the rational checklist. And if you’ve been waiting for Apple to make you feel that again, the Air is exactly that moment.

The iPhone Air isn't for everyone, nor was it ever meant to be. Apple was forced to try something different given the sluggish sales of the Plus model. The iPhone Air feels like a Pro design model, in contrast with the usual Pro performance devices the company does. To achieve an extremely slim and lightweight body, Apple had to make some compromises, with the most obvious ones being camera performance. The battery handicap isn't severe as we feared. And even the camera on the back is capable of delivering excellent stills and videos, and the new selfie camera is solid. Obviously the setup is nowhere near as versatile as you can expect at this price point and it's a shame Apple didn't at least opt for the larger 48 MP sensor that the Pros carry.

The iPhone Air is visually impressive, light enough to carry comfortably, yet still offering a large screen. Performance is solid, though with two significant caveats: it tends to heat up, and its battery struggles to last a full workday, especially under heavy use. Internal competition within Apple’s lineup also complicates the picture: the basic iPhone 17 starts at around $1,100), about $300 less than the Air, while the Pro model costs only $120 more.

Review: Apple’s iPhone Air is a bunch of small changes that add up to something big
Quelle: Ars Technica Englisch EN→DE
Most in the Ars Orbiting HQ are in the "I don't see the appeal of this" camp regarding the iPhone Air, and that's a perspective I completely understand. A decade or so ago, during the heyday of the iPhone 6, 6S, and 7, most of us were of the opinion that we would gladly carry around a marginally heavier phone if Apple could just fit a bigger battery in it. But three days of continuous use have helped sell me on the value of the iPhone Air. The iPhone and iPhone Pro have a minor but noticeable heft to them, where the Air is just thin and light enough to feel heftless. It's easy to carry and pocket while still being sturdy enough to handle day-to-day use and abuse. And its battery life, while diminished compared to this year's other iPhones, does not regress all the way back to where it was in the pre-iPhone-X era.

I could easily see myself using the iPhone Air long-term, even after testing. As it so happens, I left the iPhone 17 Pro Max review for last, so it's the phone that my eSIM is installed in right now, and I'm loving how great the cameras are in Apple's best phones this time around. But there's no denying the appeal of the iPhone Air. Even as someone who doesn't really care about making a public statement with my phone, I just like the feel of the device in my hand. My only real issue with the phone is its price. At $999, you're paying a bit much more for what technically amounts to a downgrade. There's nothing about the iPhone Air that's objectively better than the cheaper iPhone 17, except the A19 Pro chip, which is only marginally better here anyway. Instead, you're paying for what, admittedly, many people will find subjectively way cooler.

Apple now makes its pro products unapologetically professional, which frees the company’s consumer products from the burden of complexity. I think this is a cue that, for the first time, the iPhone 17 Pro is not the “flagship” iPhone. Apple moved it upmarket, designing it for true professional users who demand the very best cameras and audio hardware. Speculation that the ultra-slim iPhone Air would be deeply compromised for the sake of beauty simply did not prove true. Yes, it is gorgeous and chic, but it’s also a phone I could imagine happily owning.

80% iPhone Air Review: Is This the Future?
Quelle: Mark Ellis Reviews Englisch EN→DE
My first weekend with the iPhone Air has been really enjoyable. It feels like the first truly new iPhone for many years. My concerns about the battery life have already been softened slightly. I wish I could say the same about the camera, but again – it’s early days. There are other things I want to keep an eye on. For instance, the iPhone Air contains the new Apple-designed N1 chip that looks after Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and it has an upgraded C1X for cellular duties. Combined, they’re essential to the everyday operation of the phone; will I notice their presence, good or bad? More thoughts to follow in the coming months. Stay tuned, and get involved with your own iPhone Air stories in the comments section, please!

80% Apple iPhone Air review: the super skinny iPhone will surprise you
Quelle: T3 Englisch EN→DE
The Apple iPhone Air is a brilliant phone and it will be perfect for some users who have been dreaming for the return of slim and lightweight phones since devices like the iPhone 6. It only has a single camera, so you miss out on ultra-wide or proper zoom capabilities and putting a case on it, despite you feeling like you'll want to protect it, will ruin exactly what it's about. But the design is an absolute delight to use; the battery life is more than respectable; the display is lovely, and the single camera is very capable. For the right person, the iPhone Air is everything it should be.

iPhone Air review: Thinness with purpose
Quelle: Engadget Englisch EN→DE
While the iPhone Air's thinness may be its most striking quality, it's abundantly clear that this handset is so much more than that. Not only does this device represent a radical evolution of Apple's design chops, it forced the company's engineers to come up with more power-efficient solutions to make all this possible. And in that respect, the iPhone Air is a massive success. It's sleek, it's fast and it's wildly stylish in a way that both fashionistas and people who just like packing light can appreciate. One interesting wrinkle in all of this is that the true potential of the Air's success might not be truly felt for another year or two. While Apple might not want to say so just yet, I'm willing to bet that this device will also be the template for an upcoming foldable iPhone. You slap two Airs together, connect them with a hinge and a flexible screen and baby you got stew going. That said, for fans of previous Plus models, the Air's increased price, smaller screen and single rear cam certainly aren't ideal.

70% Apple iPhone Air review: What I like and what I don't
Quelle: Tom's Guide Englisch EN→DE
I’m torn about the iPhone Air, as it’s a remarkable piece of engineering. This design is amazingly thin and light, and Apple deserves serious credit for making it so durable. It feels so strong I don’t think I would bother with a case. I also like how well the iPhone Air performs. No, it doesn’t have the graphics might or sustained performance of the iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max, but it’s faster than the Galaxy S25 Edge and remains fairly cool under pressure. And it offers better sustained performance than Samsung’s slim phone. However, I don’t like that shoppers have to give up both an ultrawide lens and telephoto zoom with the iPhone Air. At least Samsung gives you an ultrawide camera that enables macro photography. But the iPhone Air’s main 48MP camera is very good overall.Apple left some other features on the cutting room floor as well, such as fast charging and Cinematic Mode for video.

I tested the Apple iPhone Air for a week, and I’m still not sure who should buy it
Quelle: CNN underscored Englisch EN→DE
The iPhone Air isn’t my next iPhone, but I can’t knock Apple for shooting for the moon with this take on a lighter and thinner counterpart to its beefier Pro versions. I hope this is the beginning of a new trend of Apple doing different things with the iPhone’s design, and I’m not talking about the oft-rumored folding iPhone. Instead, I’d say Cupertino’s engineers could win a lot of good will by making a Pro-grade iPhone with a screen that’s less than six inches. If the iPhone Air is enough of a hit to warrant a sequel, I’d hope Apple’s engineers find a way to sneak a 0.5x ultrawide camera into the next edition. I wouldn’t quite call the Air one of the best iPhones. Its battery life is a severe limitation, and the lack of ultrawide and telephoto cameras also makes it feel a bit underwhelming.

I'm a tech expert, and the new iPhone Air blew me away with its barely there weight and full performance power
Quelle: Business Standard Englisch EN→DE
This is one of the handsomest smartphones ever, with its thin profile and light weight reason enough to buy it, it’s so well-designed. Fears of brittleness or a disappointing battery were allayed each day I tested it. If you’re a photography buff, you’re probably going to want the Pro or Pro Max, it’s true, but the camera here is strong. I had to get past an inherent bias in my mind that said one camera couldn’t be enough. In a lot of cases, it was. Sure, there’s a premium for design compared to the regular iPhone 17, but when a phone is as capable as the iPhone 17 Air, as fully-featured, and has drop-dead glorious looks, it seems like a premium that’s worth it.

80% Apple iPhone Air Review: Fantastic Form, If You Can Live Without All the Features
Quelle: PC Mag Englisch EN→DE
Apple's engineers deserve accolades for cramming so much phone into such a thin design. The iPhone Air is a wonder, but I don't think it's for everyone. You can't ask for a thinner, more impressive piece of hardware, especially one with such a fantastic screen, solid performance, and powerful software. Though I miss the expanded optical zoom range of the iPhone Pro's cameras, the Air still takes excellent photos and videos as long as you don't mind a limited field of view. If you normally prefer to take selfies, the Air should be more than enough phone for you. For $200 less, however, the standard iPhone 17 is a relative bargain thanks to its much longer battery life, more flexible camera arrangement, and faster mmWave 5G support, making it the best iPhone for most people and our Editors' Choice winner.

iPhone Air Canadian review: Holding is believing
Quelle: Mobile Syrup Englisch EN→DE
Midway through writing this review, I moved over to do some testing with the 17 Pro Max, and when I came back and picked up the Air, I had chills. The phone weighs so much less; holding something with a screen-to-weight ratio like this feels incredible. I think 6.5 inches is the sweet spot for large-screen devices as well. The Pro Max feels like a behemoth, and even last year’s 16 Plus was pretty hefty in retrospect. Slimming down the Air and shrinking the screen makes it feel like it was designed with hands in mind, not just with the sole purpose of putting a giant screen in your pocket. There’s something about that that’s reminiscent of Apple from the past, and more than anything, this feels like a true successor to the iPhone X from 2017.

86% Apple's Super-Slim iPhone Air Had Me on Edge... Until I Tested It
Quelle: CNet Englisch EN→DE
Amid the current thin phone craze, there's a glaring question: What's the point of a skinnier device? And how much do you have to compromise to have a phone that's lighter in your hand and slimmer in your pocket? Understanding the appeal of a thin phone like the iPhone Air may require a bit of reframing. It's easy to think of it merely as a less capable iPhone, especially when compared with Apple's higher-end Pro models. But form factor is king here. The iPhone Air isn't about having top-level cameras; that's what the Pro models are for. It's also not about packing the largest battery. In an ideal world, it would be great to have the most advanced specs crammed into the slimmest device. But we're just not there yet.

Quelle: Techradar Englisch EN→DE
The iPhone Air is Apple’s boldest design refresh in years – it’s almost impossibly thin at 5.64mm, yet still sturdy thanks to the use of titanium and Ceramic Shield. Its 6.5-inch ProMotion display and iOS 26’s Liquid Glass makeover feel purpose-built for this form factor – even after a week of use, this still feels like Apple’s most exciting design refresh in years. Battery life is solid if not class-leading, and the single 48MP camera limits flexibility, but for those who value design and portability above all else it’s sexy and stunning – and maybe a new kind of Pro.

Apple iPhone Air hands-on: Gorgeously sleek
Quelle: Canbuyornot Englisch EN→DE
The Apple iPhone Air is one of those things you have to see yourself in person to be impressed. At 5.64mm thick, the iPhone Air is shockingly slim, and at 165g, ridiculously light. The moment I held one in my hand, I was immediately blown away by the feel of it in my hand. And it doesn't feel fragile like I expected — instead, it feels pretty solid and substantial. And yes, I've tried bending it with a normal amount of force and it's really sturdy (and doesn't bend at all). I really like how the phone feels, to the point where I'm considering to make this my main phone instead of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Unfortunately, there are certain drawbacks that I need to consider, especially since I need the Pro Max's cameras for work. The iPhone Air only comes with one 48MP camera, and is limited to a 2x zoom.

The most visible shakeup to Apple's smartphone catalog in 2025 is the iPhone Air. It’s a phone whose whole identity revolves around being skinny – and the compromises it makes to get there aren't as comprehensive as you might think. Right alongside the iPhone Air sits the iPhone 17 Pro (and its larger sibling the iPhone 17 Pro Max). It’s the least-Apple-looking phone I’ve seen in almost a decade, a monster muscle car whose ponderous plateau projects pure power. If you've ever wondered what an iPhone designed by Xiaomi or Oppo might look like (and let's be real: who hasn't?) ... you have one less question to keep you up at night.

Hands-on with Apple’s new iPhones: Beauty and the beast and the regular-looking one
Quelle: Ars Technica Englisch EN→DE
We're a long way from the days when a new iPhone launch just meant one new phone. It shifted to "basically the same phone in two sizes" a decade or so ago, and then to a version of "one lineup of regular phones and one lineup of Pro phones" in 2017 when the iPhone 8 was introduced next to the iPhone X. But thanks to Apple's newly introduced iPhone Air, the iPhone 17 lineup gives new phone buyers more choices and trade-offs than they've ever had before. Apple's phones are now available in a spectrum of sizes, weights, speeds, costs, and camera configurations. And while options are great to have, it also means you need to know more about which one to pick. We've gone hands-on with all four of Apple's new phones, and while more extensive tire-kicking will be required, we can at least try to nail down exactly what kind of person each of these phones is for.
