It’s a bold new look that finally throws out the boring look of its predecessor and opts for something far more appealing. But pleasing the end user is only half the battle, as the other half is security, stability, and manageability by IT, and the Dell Pro 13 Premium hits most of these points. This review will be similar to my Dell Pro 14 review, as these are just about the same thing aside from the display and size. That’s actually one of the largest differences. The 14 I reviewed had the tandem-OLED display, while this one has an IPS display. So if you’re concerned about burn-in and prefer the IPS display, this one might be for you.

The cheapest version of the Dell Pro 13 Premium you should consider is the Core Ultra 236V (16GB RAM) with a 512GB SSD and the 400cd/m2 Full HD display, and that will set you back just under £1,950. Given the 2.5K screen only increases the price to £1,993, you should certainly tick that box, but that still doesn’t give you a display to match the Apple, Asus or Lenovo competition in terms of colour output or accuracy. Even the much-maligned Dell XPS 13 can be had with a 2.8K OLED touchscreen for £1,650. Everything else about the Dell Pro 13 Premium is bang on the money: It’s powerful, the speakers are great, it’s smart, well made and delivers impressive battery life.

Das Dell Pro 13 Premium ist in den Konfigurationen FHD+ und QHD+ erhältlich. Die letztgenannte Option wirkt sich auf die Akkulaufzeit aus, aber die Laufzeiten bleiben insgesamt trotzdem hervorragend.

Dell: Dell ist ein 1984 gegründeter US-amerikanischer Hersteller (Sitz Texas) von Computer-Hardware und gehört zu den grössten internationalen Herstellern sowohl in Bezug auf Marktanteile als auch hinsichtlich Notebook-Modellen. Die Produktpalette umfasst unter anderem Desktops, Notebooks, Speichersysteme, Monitore, Server, Drucker, Unterhaltungselektronik und Peripheriegeräte. Dell bietet Laptops an, die ich für verschiedene Einsatzbereiche eignen, z. B. Business-Laptops, Gaming-Laptops, Ultra-Portables und Workstations. Die Business-Notebooks von Dell aus den Latitude- und Precision-Serien sind eine Option für professionelle Anwender und Unternehmen.
2023 hatte Dell einen ungefähren Marktanteil von 17% am weltweiten PC-Absatz und war damit die Nummer 3 nach Lenovo und HP.
Für Gaming-Enthusiasten ist die Marke Alienware von Dell für Gaming-Notebooks vorgesehen.
Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
Intel Arc 140V: Schnelle integrierte Grafikkarte, die in den schnelleren Intel Lunar Lake Prozessoren zum Einsatz kommt. Die 140V verfügt über 8 Xe²-Architekturkerne (Battlemage), die mit bis zu 2.050 MHz laufen, und 8 Raytracing-Einheiten. Sie ist DirectX 12 Ultimate-fähig und unterstützt alle modernen Video-Codecs.

Core Ultra 7 268V: Ein höherwertiger Notebook-Prozessor aus der Lunar Lake-Serie. Dabei handelt es sich um ein SoC für den Einsatz in Laptops und Tablets der schlankeren Art, das über 4 brandneue E-Kerne und 4 etwas neue P-Kerne verfügt, die mit bis zu 5,0 GHz laufen, zusammen mit der vielversprechenden neuen Arc 140V iGPU und 32 GB integriertem LPDDR5x-8533 RAM. Eine neue 48 TOPS Neural Engine, TB 4 und PCIe 5 SSD Unterstützung sind ebenfalls enthalten.
