EN→DEThe Dell 14 Plus is part of the new branding from Dell, and this design is really sharp for a budget laptop. The build quality is also pretty solid, with everything feeling tight and well built. The performance of both the AMD and Intel Core Ultra CPUs was fantastic and on par with what I’ve been seeing from both all year round. The camera and speakers are decent, not mind-blowing, but decent enough. The battery life is fantastic on both the AMD and Intel, though I felt the Intel held out slightly longer. The price points are what really make this worth buying. The 2-in-1 does cost a bit more, but if you don’t need that, you can just get the Dell 14 Plus laptop. The display does need more brightness. It works fine indoors and in areas without bright sunlight or bright direct light.

EN→DEThe Dell 16 Plus (DB16250) is a masterclass in industrial design, a laptop that feels and looks far more premium than its “Plus” designation might suggest. It presents a beautiful, elegant, and highly professional package that prioritizes a stunning visual experience and a refined user interface. However, beneath this gorgeous aluminium shell lie some critical compromises that prospective buyers must be aware of. This is a machine for the user who values aesthetic excellence and a top-tier display for daily productivity, but it comes with significant limitations in terms of future-proofing and eye comfort.

EN→DEDell’s 14 Plus excels as a dependable everyday laptop, blending a premium design with modern features, including Copilot+ capabilities and extended battery life from its Lunar Lake processor. Though slightly heavier than some competitors, this doesn’t hinder functionality, and while its display isn’t the brightest, it remains sharp and highly usable. Home users and students will find it a compelling alternative to the Editors' Choice-award-holding Apple MacBook Air 13-Inch and the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED Touch (UM3406), especially if Dell’s steeply discounted price is in effect when you happen to be in the market.

EN→DEAnd that’s the tale of the tape. It won’t win any design awards — or any awards, really — but it’ll meet your deadlines without drama. After my time using it as my daily driver, I have no overtly deal-breaking complaints! It’s a strong performer, has the longevity to keep up with my workload on-the-go, and the ergonomics for an enjoyably tactile typing and clicking experience. Don’t let it being the aesthetic equivalent of plain toast deter you — especially given that warranty coverage that comes with it.

EN→DEI can’t shake the feeling that the Dell 14 Plus is less than the sum of its parts. On paper, a laptop costing £1,049 with a 1TB SSD, 32GB of RAM, a 2.5K display and a full raft of biometrics should be an easy four-star bit of kit. But the bouncy keyboard, unimpressive battery life and drab screen knock some of the shine off. If I were in the market for a good compact laptop I would take a long hard look at the Dell 14 Plus, carefully note that I was getting 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD for the same price as some other machines only give you 16GB and 512GB and then I’d buy a Asus Zenbook or a MacBook Air.

EN→DEPrices for the Dell 14 Plus start at $1,099. My review unit's configuration is slightly more expensive at $1,180. The most powerful option comes with an Intel Core Ultra 9 288V chipset and 32GB of RAM. It is currently on sale at a discounted $1,280. All three come with a 1 TB SSD. Dell's latest machine stands tall as a great affordable option that performs very well amongst a sea of expensive computers. It was such a good experience that I am overlooking the few issues I had with it. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a next-gen laptop that won't make your wallet cringe at the price tag. For me, it is definitely a highlight of 2025. That said, if you are looking for something else, I recommend the Lenovo Yoga 9i Aura Edition. It has a significantly better display and robust AI features, although it is more expensive.

EN→DEThe laptop version of the Dell 14 Plus is a good buy, especially when you can pick it up for its sale price of $750. Getting a sharp, 2.5K display inside a sturdy, all-metal design with a modern AI processor for that price is a great value. If you want to spend even less, check out the Acer Aspire 14 AI, and if your budget extends past $1,000, then the Asus Zenbook A14 and Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 are two of my favorite Windows laptops. For the two-in-one shoppers reading this and being disappointed in that half of the Dell 14 Plus equation, I've also got recommendations. The Lenovo Yoga 7 14 Gen 9 is my favorite two-in-one overall, and I also like the HP Spectre x360 14, if you have more to spend and want a premium model with an OLED display.

EN→DEWhen I set out to review the Dell 14 Plus, I imagined it'd be a fairly standard follow-up to the now-retired Inspiron 14 Plus, but what Dell's produced is actually way better than I was expecting, and offers possibly the best value for its price range of any Windows laptop on the market right now. It's not perfect by any means, but for what you're paying, only the MacBook Air 13 with M4 chip offers a better value for everyday users.

EN→DEI wanted to like the Dell 14 Plus — I’ve always been a fan of the Inspiron series, but this one fails to stand out, and I swear it doesn’t have anything to do with its new name (maybe). It offers decent performance and solid battery life, but I can’t get over its subpar display, hollow audio, and shallow touchpad. If you want to stay in this price range but need better performance and battery life, I highly recommend checking out the MacBook Air 13-inch M4 or Asus Zenbook S 14 (UX5406). But if you do like what you see out of the Dell 14 Plus, I highly recommend getting the Ultra 7 258V model for increased performance.
